I just ended up settling for the the GPD Q9 cause it could do what I needed it to do. I didn't need all the fancy features this one had. Atleast enough to warrant the price of it.
+Witty Womble sadly I could only go as far as downloading Retroarch as the downloading of ROMs is a grey area when it comes to law so I won't be sharing where I downloaded them from. My video was just to show that they do work. Sorry about that
UPDATE: There is now a new version with the even BETTER Intel Cherry Trail Z8750 processor! If you plan on picking one up then this will give that extra processor boost! bit.ly/2nkvdyi
It looks like yours may actually be a revised version. Reddit says that if it has a matte lid that matches the rest of the body (the old glossy lid is really glossy and same as the GPD XD) and has Steam setup on the desktop then it also a revision one even though it doesn't have 3 lines of text. Some other there have had revision ones with matt lids and without the 3 lines of text on the bottom and with samsung storage, not the newer (slower!) toshiba storage. Using up old stock of parts I guess.
+Daryn Quinn yeah I read a few different forums and it was very confusing, but I also believe this is the revised version. Whatever I've got it's bloody brilliant! I can't stop using the thing!
I'll see if I can find it. I had one delivered from the EU warehouse this week which was a matte top (again only post Jan 10 ones have this) 3 lines of text on the bottom but with the older, better Samsung storage
Hey I have ordered one of these I am just waiting to receive it. Being a Zelda fan, have you tried playing Wind Waker via Dolphin on it? I would really love to know if that runs on here! Having Wind Waker portable would be amazing to me!
Can you test the dragon age games? Saw someone running inquisition, and it seemed playable, but i would like to know about the other ones. Could you also try the escapists? It should run good but you never know.
Does this unit run Dreamcast games well? I don't know if you have the game available, but could you show a test of Star Wars TIE Fighter? Thanks for the review!
I got the next version up (as I've only had it a couple of weeks) with the slightly better CPU and the aluminium top half. It's a lovely little machine, it has its idiosynchracies. It would have been nice if it had more storage space that a tidgy 64GB especially when half of that is taken up by Windows 10 itself and yes, L3 and R3 really ought to be closer to the sticks if not on the sticks itself. But on the whole, I love my little GPD Win! Up to incuding the point that I want to give her female pronouns! Yes, this little computer is my latest waifu!! She's certainly the best Cherry Trail device I've ever used, same CPU as Windows tablets yet runs _way_ smoother. A more up to date CPU (seeing as Intel have abandoned the Atom range and killed Vulkan compatibility, the bastards) a more up to date GPU, a Psion 5 style keyboard, larger internal storage and L3 and R3 buttons on the actual stick would make for the perfect handheld!
I had to get mine from a site called Geekbuying, they didn't let me down, they got the thing out to me though I doubt you'll get it in time for Christmas now. They billed me in US$ for the price of $349 which at the time translated to about £270 + non-sterling transaction fee. Ordering from Chinese sellers is pretty much the only way you'll get this, unless it's being resold on eBay or Gumtree (or CeX)
The difference is that the post Jan 10 was revised to solve some issues with the device that may cause problems. Note: may. The solution if you have the previous version is to have it full updated when it comes to the bios and drivers from GPD and from Intel and Microsoft.
that's the only letdown is the speaker which is a shame, it's mono it's underneath why didn't they make it's screen an inch wider install two mini speakers. I've seen tac switch mods already. those fix the l3r3
m0dm0use it's that size because it's made to fit in an average size pocket. Any bigger might be an issue and couldn't be considered a pocket pc. I do agree they could have placed the speaker in a better place.
