Hi I rakesh and I am running the ftth services but i have problem with distance between the Olt and Onu my network are distance around 18km max but onu pon not stable we split first 1:2 50/50 coupler and 1:8 on both fiber 16 users

GPON Downstream transmission broadcasts unnessecarry traffics like HUB but its safer than HUB as it transmits all the packest with AES encryption which makes it impossible to sniff the packet by the ONU/USER the packet is not intended for.

Hello, Unfortunately this doesnt works for me even using the port forwwarding setup on my FTTH Internet Box. I noticed that the FTTH Box has (apparently a Public IP 172.xx.xx.xx that is different from the Public IP shown by the ISP assigned that is of 154.xx.xx.xx. The I can reach the 172.xx.xx.xx WITHIN or being BEHIND the 154.xx.xx.xx but NOT from outside of it. Any clue on how to get around this? Thanks. Cheers. Mertin

GPON technology works between OLT & ONT and from OLT to ONT we can only use optical fiber. However core link to OLT can be of any type either copper, fiber or even wireless.

1:52 ten years old slide? Now we have 10G (upstream and downstream!) ethernet in fiber with range up to 80 km. The only advantage of PON is passive fiber "network".
