Recently, I had the opportunity to use the Nugget Finder 12” Z Search (tester) coil soon to be released for use on the GPZ 7000 gold detector.
NB: The coil used was a test coil and the final product may have a different appearance.
I was not paid to produce this video. I’m simply a keen gold prospector who jumped at the opportunity to use the Z Search (test) coil and see what the (test) coil was like.
Settings Used:
High Yield
Difficult
Threshold Level - 28
Threshold Pitch - 40 (personal)
Volume limit - 10 (headphones)
Sensitivity - 14
Volume 8
Audio Smoothing - Off
Ground Balance mode - Semi-auto

G’day BW. It sounds a bit ‘warbley’ to me, so not as quiet as I would like. If it’s any help, I put the settings I used in the ‘description’ section of the this. Click on the ‘v’ to view.

Hi Annie Not sure if this give me inspiration or not if we are to start with a basic detector lol, my wife and I are about to retire and would like to try gold detecting as we travel Have watched some of your other vids and love the about where and how to fossick, great stuff thank you We where looking at a mine lab Equinox 800, any tips or hints would be great Love your work :) Cheers Mark

G’day Mark, thanks for your feedback. Gold detecting is a great hobby in retirement. It’s tough deciding on first gold detector - a lot depends on budget $. You need to research detectors, the Equinox 800 is more on the coin & relic side of metal detecting ie: parks & beaches. Gold is found in highly mineralised ground and in some remote areas if you are very keen. There is the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 ($1,000 approx) but for a more serious gold detector there is the Minelab SDC 2300 ($4,000) with small coil designed for small nugget hunting, or the GPX 5000 ($4,890 approx) that you can buy several coils and swap attachments. The latter was my first gold detector. Maybe the best thing is to hire a detector and have a lesson with a reputable dealer and really see if it’s the hobby for you. Not sure where you live but most states have detecting dealers that do this and others that run tag along tours. 😀⛏⛏

Hi Annie....great video...thank you! Just wondering if you think the Z search coil could breathe a bit of new life into the VIC goldfields by finding stuff that the orig 14" coil couldn't ....?

Thanks Loz. Yes it did. I wonder sometimes if I didn’t have headphones would I hear those faint signals. I pull out headphones and listen on WM and can hardly hear the targets.

@@GoldNuggetDetecting actually, i dont honor the coil at all...that speck would have been singing on a 19"...I am blown away at how you caught that!!!!! 9,999 out of 10, 000 would have walked on!!! You have a very, very good ear, and I have watched tons of these vids...Great catch!!!!
