@@hardgay7537 I mean yea when you say it like nut juice or nut milk if bro woulda said almond juice ain’t nothing bad about that but we prolly just call it almond milk since it is a milk substitute and resembles milk but idk I’m not a milk scientist
@@renameagain5808 I guess they're saying that almond milk isn't the most environmentally friendly non dairy milk, as there are other alternatives like soy and oat milk that are.
Actually, you only need almonds and water. They are sweet as is, never even thought of adding anything else, you get the perfect milk that keeps calling you from the fridge that way. Can’t stop drinking it, yum!!! I use about 25-30% almonds to water.
@@naelyneurkopfen9741 You don’t know what you’re talking about, you sound like a 5 year old. I use good quality water and you can’t taste it as water at all because of the high content in almonds.
@@worlddomination1152 yeah you need to give squirrel lots of nuts then boil it alive with a female squirrel (don't give the female nuts too) then squeeze the milk out of them like shown in the video
Same in Spain, and also for rice milk: rice, water and seasalt. But I´ve tried this recipe and I can say that this is the best almond milk I´ve ever tasted. And cheaper and probably healthier than those from the store.
That almond milk you used as an example as it just looks enriched. It has added calcium added vitamins and antioxidants, the only things I find off is the emulsifier which ain't that bad, vegetable gum, and natural flavor which Is the only thing I have a problem with. Usually enrichment is made mandatory by some governments do to deficiencies it has seen trending up and is for the good of the consumers.
Emulsifier is required ingredient. There are a lot of safe emulsifiers. Protein in your dairy milk is emulsifier. So is lechitin in your eggs. Without emulsifier, your milk will have its fat separated from water. You don't want that.
Most of those ingredients on the almond milk in the store(and any product in a store) are just what's in the main ingredients in the one you maid they just listed them to flesh out the ingredients list and make it seem like it's giving you a lot of nutritious stuff when they just listed the chemical and vitamin of the main ingredients
It's not to make it seem like more it's a required law to state anything that is in your product for health and safety, there are exceptions like Secret recapiy and what not but those are still under extreme scrutiny and monitored.
I wonder what would be OP's ingredient list. Considering all the solids he filtered out which would be the percentage of almonds in the finished product (2.5 sounded low to me but I've never made homemade almost milk)
Actually, the majority of the listed ingredients are simply the minerals/vitamins added to give the milk a nutritional profile similar or better than dairy milk.
i love how you didn’t make a case at all for why i shouldn’t buy almond milk, you just showed me a harmless list of the ingredients and that showed a time consuming process to make something that takes me a couple of dollars at the store to get for WAY more convenience
@@XMrRex maybe not in a short but I would prefer being told WHY the big name scary sounding chemical is bad instead of just them pointing and going "is bad"
@@XMrRex he doesn't even give one reason why, just says "this bad" and shows the ingredient list, majority of the ingredients shown there weren't even bad, lots of them were just vitamins/minerals, only ones that aren't really is the sodium bicarbonate (aka "Baking Soda"), the gellan is there to stabilize some of the ingredients like calcium, and absorbic acid is just Vitamin C, only one that's vague is natural flavour
One of the main issues with a lot of these being homemade is what I learned with Oat milk. The store bought ones are fortified with a lot of the vitamins you normally get in animal milk that is for baby animals. So if you make your own it won't have the same nutrition benefits.
I worked at a cold pressed juice shop and this is EXACTLY step for step how we made our almond milk! Only exception is we would put "Blue Majik" in it too, resulting in a beautiful baby blue colored almond milk with added protein!
I hate when people overreact when it comes to the ingredients list, firstly most ingredients sound scary when really they are likely already in your household and secondly most ingredients are added for a specific purpose wether it be increasing shelf stability or keeping a color the same
Plus it’s way more expensive to make almond milk. Do these people know how much a bag of almonds costs? I prefer oat milk anyway. And if you don’t want sugar in it, get the unsweetened version.
There's literally not one listed bad ingredient in the example almond milk tho, aside from maybe the "natural flavoring" which could be anything "natural" The vitamins added seem like a bonus since you need them anyway, may as well have it with your cereal or whatever like normal fortified milk. The other ones are just flavor enhancers (like you said yourself, "sweetened if you want"; you can also add a bit of salt to give it more flavor) And then a few simple preservatives, not even slightly dangerous ones too. That makes it stay good until time of purchase and opening by the consumer. Just saying there's MUCH worse brands out there, adding some terrible things to their nondairy beverages. Your recipe looks fire tho! 😍👍😁💜
Not one bad ingredient, really? It contains cane sugar! Its the second thing on the list, this litterally means this "juice" has more sugar than almonds in it. Its just sugar water! Unhealthy BS product!
Yeah, in fact I would say it's better because they added Calcium and vitamins so it is closer to the nutritional value of dairy milk. Also they went out of their way to use only non-animal additives.
Walter nut Maple syrup and vanilla extract. Looks at ingredients list on side of bottles for both.😮😮😮 Ohhh no known your nut milk has 15 ingredients rather than 8.
EXACTLY 💓 💯 Thank you 😊 If people only knew how simple it is to make nut milks. I'm sure they would be happier saving money and drinking a more nutritional version of it.
I live in Austria and it's actually called "Almond Drink" here instead of milk! First time looking up an american recipe confused me a bit why I couldn't get Almond "Milk" in our stores haha
@@bianka4001 yes. We call it the same in Europe. Actually, Here it is illegal for brands to label on the drinks as milk if they are not 100% dairy. So, Oat/peas/soy drink or vegetable drink is the right away to call it.
@@Nyah_Tea Austria is in Europe in case you don't know. Small country so not everyone knows it. But thanks for the heads up regarding the law. I didn't know the specifics of that.
So many videos as this. All of them blend (soaked or not) with skin. If you soak for however may hours, have a look at the dark and dirty water. Walnuts do the same. If you can, peel almods after soaking. It's really easy then, extra clean. Soaked nuts are easier to digest, plus they make extra protein (learnt that from a nutritionist). Bon apetit ❤
You mean, just like in the milk he told us to reject precisely because of the added ingredients? Which one is it now? Do you want to add ingredients or do ingredients scare you?
The store bought ingrediant list looked great. It's exactly the same recipe but with cane sugar instead of maple syrup, extra vitamins and minerals added to make it as healthy as cow milk, and some plant-based emulsifiers to improve and stabilize the texture. If I had soy lecithin in my kitchen I would use it in this
Looks beautiful and creamy. Almond meal dries out very quickly on a low oven setting. Leave it in there for 15 minutes after you turn don't have enough. Aldi have really good priced bulk nuts. Hard to find Australian brand competitive prices.
Thanks for the compliment on the creamy almond milk! You're right about almond meal drying quickly in the oven, so it's important to keep an eye on it. Aldi offers competitively priced bulk nuts, which is a great option. Enjoy your homemade almond milk and keep exploring local brands for even better deals! Cheers! 🥰
But you can afford to buy almond milk? 🤔 bc if you're not even buying almond milk, what difference does it make? But if you ARE buying almond milk, this is definitely better on the budget provided you already have a blender.
@@osllq9355 hi there. Where I live. I can buy a litre of almond milk for £2.50. enough almonds to make a litre of milk would cost me close to £20 .plus the other ingredients. Not really cost effective. Def better then the store bought stuff ingredient wise though.
@@osllq9355 almonds (where i live) are fairly expensive. Absolutely more cost effective to buy almond milk. Certainly a moot point if you dont drink almond milk though
The “calculation” video calls half a cup of almonds a serving, but he uses a whole cup in this clip. So double that number. If you only use half a cup of almonds to make 1 liter, then it is technically “cheaper”, but the final product would be closer to almond water than “milk”.
😂 this is how you milk an almond, love it, wish i had that line when my coworkers where giving me a hard time about not drinking cows milk one actually said to me “you can’t milk an almond” 🤔 👍🏽
Hey nice recipe. I have a few nitpicks though. Just because something has a lot of ingredients doesn’t mean it’s unhealthy.. all the unfamiliar ingredients in that particular almond milk are completely fine. Also, store-bought almond milk is usually fortified, and homemade is not. So its also something to take into consideration..
Good blender will make it better and faster, but you can always try with blender you have. If you are looking for one you may may check here:froothie.com.au/products/the-optimum-9200a-2nd-gen-rated-1-by-product-review-choice And yes, cloth will do the trick 🥰
A fine mesh strainer, cheese cloth, paper towel in strainer with bigger holes or just a clean kitchen towel will do too. A "nut milk bag" is just more expensive for nothing.
Thanks for your comment! We couldn't agree more - almond biscuits are truly delightful! They have a way of making us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. So, go ahead and pair them with a glass of almond milk for the ultimate almondlicious experience. Enjoy! 🥰🍪
And end up with calcium deficiency. If someone relied on dairy for calcium, replacing it with unfortified almond milk may have bad consequences in the long run.
@@rohanharridge5579 The liquid naturally found within a coconut is “coconut water”. When you blend coconut water and coconut itself, the product is called “coconut milk”. But as OP said, the label of “milk” is often misused, because milk comes from mammals exclusively. All these other man made blends are not milk!
The sweat and bacteria from the hands get to the milk. I do not think it is hygienic. I use a strainer although I cannot extract all the milk, but it is cleaner. My family would not drink it if I use my hands to squeeze out the milk from bag, unless I heat it again .
You can make a mean frosting out of almonds. My grandmother makes chocolate cake with sweet yellow almond frosting on top. Reminds me I need to ask for the recipe.
@@FroothieTV well ill be damned. but it doesnt take into account locality, so that might still be an issue for a handfull of people. very cool to know its so competitive nonetheless, im probably gonna be making mine at home from now on!
I have been making almond milk now for at least 6 years. I put mine in a litre glass bottle. I blanch the almonds then soak them in a jug in the fridge for 24 hours. That long or even 48 hours with 2 changes of water. It lasts at least 6 days. Better on its own no vanilla.
Is Almond milk really milk? Isn't it a juice? Nut juice? What is the limit of using words like juice, milk, h*ll is ketchup tomato smoothie or juice? I'm confused.
Tomato smoothie 😆 good one! We call it milk for convenience. Its a great milk alternative for people with the lactose intolerance. You can call it juice 😆
