Sometimes there are songs you take time planning to release and sometimes there are songs that come to you because you feel a sense of responsibility to use the platform you have to bring change.
This song came to me unexpectedly last week feeling the lead up to our state election and the chaos of the world with little care for land and minorities by the people “leading” it.
I wrote this song to urge us all to consider the land we stand on, the logging of the world’s second biggest temperate rainforest; takanya right here in lutruwita, this country’s continued refusal to stand with the people of Palestine and the ongoing shameful treatment of First Nations people on their stolen land.
Right now, maybe more than ever in my lifetime I see artists around the world being censored for speaking out against these big companies funding genocide and the destruction of these lands. Which means it’s now more important more than ever to use your voice and speak up for the VOICELESS.
Please look outside yourself when voting on Saturday, vote with compassion for the land, for those struggling, for Palestine, for First Nations people and for future generations.
keep speaking up 🖤 we need YOU.
