What a nice trip down memory lane.......I sailed with my mother & sister on the Santa Paula in March 1969. My very first cruise. Nothing but great memories.
Traveled on both the Santa Rosa and the Santa Paula. Last time was 1962, and was sad to see the line go away. Today's mega ships are glitzier, but lack the personal experiences that the "Santas" did.
I was "aboard" the Santa Paula in the mid-90s after she became the "Ramada Al Salaam Hotel" in Kuwait -- or what was left of it after it was torched by retreating Iraqi forces. The charred wreck was a sad sight, and I only briefly set foot on the deck as I didn't consider it safe to explore further. The wreck was broken up and scrapped sometime in the early 2000's. :^(
Outrageous, not a sign of trainers, body piercings, tattoos, baseball caps ( back to front ), etc? What is the world coming to? Ps. I can’t see any water slides, disgraceful!
