Grace Moore - Lover come back to me (1930)
New Moon is the name of two different film versions of the operetta The New Moon with music by Sigmund Romberg and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and others.
The original stage version premiered on Broadway in 1928.
The 1930 version of New Moon is a 1930 black and white American musical film"New Moon"
This 1930 film, directed by Jack Conway, starred Grace Moore and Lawrence Tibbett and had an entirely different plot to the original play and is set in Russia.
Distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer
Grace Moore (December 5, 1898 - January 26, 1947) was an American operatic soprano and actress in musical theatre and film.
She was nicknamed the "Tennessee Nightingale." Her films helped to popularize opera by bringing it to a larger audience.
Grace Moore died in a plane crash near the Copenhagen, Denmark airport on January 26, 1947, at the age of 48.
Among the other plane crash victims was Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden,
who was at the time second in line to the Swedish throne and who was the father of the present King of Sweden,
King Carl XVI Gustaf. Moore is buried in Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.(Wikipedia)

I love the late 1920's and very early 1930's musicals because they are historic films of the singers ACTUALLY SINGING. Not lip-synced. Look at how effortless her singing is. Compared this to today's singers with their flapping tongues and wiggling jaws and neck veins bulging. Miss Moore was a stunning singer. She was equally great on Broadway, in film, and at the Met where she had a big career. You know how she put her detractors in their place? She SANG them into their place.

George Burns was asked how he made Jack Benny laugh. He said, "We were at a Grace Moore concert, and I said, 'Now, Jack, when she starts to sing, if you were to laugh, it would be very rude'. On her first note, they carried him out. I don't make him laugh. Grace Moore makes him laugh."

She was a star of the Metropolitan Opera. She and Jeanette MacDonald were unique in having a visual appeal and personality which most opera singers don't have, Nowadays Lesley Garrett is the only one to have that

A lot of the opera cognoscenti looked down on Grace in her time. There was almost a revolt (Beecham (?) and Lady Cunard) when Covent Garden invited Moore to sing, but she filled the house. Bless her.
