It's nice to watch a reactor who really gets it when it comes to Grace! You, FABLE, and Grant Tribe are my favorite reactors because you all realize what an extraordinary talent she is. I tend to think age is a factor in the sense that older listeners, like myself, who have gotten past our shallow party years and experienced life more can appreciate her more easily. She is next level talent!

I was late to the party for your last 2 reactions but here for this one. What amazes me is that she has such good taste for music. If she didn't like the song it wouldn't sound so good. And to do it at this age is unreal. She gets so into this song that I feel I can see that "old soul " So many singers put feel in their voice but sometimes to me it feels a little fake, forced, staged, whatever. I've never felt that way with her. She makes you feel like she's feeling at the time. This is also one of favorites.
Well, you know what my friend, that is one of the reasons I'm not into singers, at least in general. They are fake to me, at least nowadays. Back in the 90's even, there was more emotion, but it's a forgotten art. Today, it's all about getting to the top, being the biggest, hitting the highest note, being the sexiest, having the coolest house, fastest car, most bling, most girls on your arm. There is no heart, there is no soul, and there is no meaning in today's music. Grace Vanderwaal, cover or original, brings the emotion, the meaning, the soul into everything she does. She is a true singer, a true songwriter, and most of all, she is another rare beast in today's industry, one that has been illusive for well over a decade, at least. She's a genuinely real true to herself person, and that is why she is able to accomplish what she does, she's not hiding behind a facade or a fake image. She is not trying to be the biggest or richest, she's not trying to hit the highest note, she's not trying to be the sexiest, and she's not trying to sacrifice her art for any of that. She writes what she loves, which is why we love it, is because indeed she does have great taste.!
I like the interview after this performance where she said that she discovered this song by chance and had to ask if she could perform it and when she got the chance she said "I gotta learn it!!"... When I first heard it I instantly fell in love and it seemed to be so out of her normal but at the same time seemed to be perfect for her. I've seen videos of her performing this at concerts and it doesn't seem as good because she didn't appear to be so into the moment. But this performance and when they used her song in the Windex commercial, are the two things that stick in my mind the most and I could listen to them over and over again all day long and never get tired of them. Her drummer gets so swept up when he performs with her and I can't help but think it helps her too.

J, you are a true fan of this incredible artist from her begining to the present 2022 and beyond like I am, no other singer has had the effect on me as Grace's voice has, she is in my opinion the icon of the future, I've listened to every song from the back porch of her home in Suffin to her concerts, I was fortunate to have seen her live in concert at the Depot in Utah during her the YSOB tour, and Las Vegas in witch she was so popular another week was added to her incredible performance on stage where she couldn't even go into a casino at just 12 yrs old, her many accomplishments are undeniable, SINGER, SONGWRITER, ACTRESS, MODEL AND PHILANTHROPIST, show me any other artist who has done this in the short time that this genius has done, a prodigy that keeps getting better and better at what she was put on this earth to do, AN HOUR PAST RAIN!!! When I first heard Leon Bridges sing his classic song RIVER, I really thought it was beautiful and spiritual, that was before Grace sang this song and I could see that Grace closing her eyes with her emotions on her face made you feel this songs words deep down in you soul, only Grace has that quality as an artist in today's music, it doesn't matter what she sings, you become part of it!!!
We get it. I watch her 1st performance on AGT and pretend it's the first time that I'm seeing her. I was watching it the night that the video hit 100,000,000 views. I almost didn't watch your video because so many people react to her only because someone tells them that it will get a huge number of views. Grace did an interview before this performance of "River". If you haven't seen it, it's a must-see. She describes why she wanted to do this song cover!

I agree with you, I have the same preference, the 4 covers are great, River is a beautiful song with a well-crafted lyric that makes sense and when it comes to singer-songwriter Grace Vanderwaal, what is already good is beautiful because it gives the song a shield , a personal label. A song like this probably who wrote it had a personal experience, lived something that took him to a deeper level of spiritual growth and Grace manages to capture and contextualize this moment lived by the author for her musical moment and seek in the soul the translation of the expression contained in the text in one of the most beautiful voices on the planet, congratulations and "success always"!!!

This is the song that she covers that I always refer to when I'm turning people on to her....what puzzles me is people push her to change for the sake of obligatory change , this time of her career needs to be further expounded on not pushed to the back burner.

Another favorite female singer of mine is Janis Joplin, she had tons of heart when she sung too. Grace to me is above Janis. We lost Janis when I was stationed in Thailand for the Vietnam war, loading B52s with bombs.
