This is an epic project video! Great that CE could make a guest appearance and lend his professional expertise to the rebuild. He is a gentleman and a great asset to have around with all things hydraulic. 5 stars CE. Nice to hear Mrs. JC in the audio and filming the process like a BOSS. Thanx for sharing this JC, you guys are always entertaining to watch. 2 thumbs up from here! Work safe Doug@ the "ranch"

I would say that your Gradall is probably your most useful tool in your arsenal of tools! I couldn't imagine doing what you do without it and the time it saves!

The Smith & Smith show did a heck of a job, CE looks like he could take the seals out and re-put them all back in blindfolded...you can tell the man has been doing it along time, he made it look like a piece of cake, I was with Mrs JC there, I was looking at the seals and was like wait a minute now....lol Pretty smart little home made tool he made himself there, does that job pretty slick and probably as a fraction of the cost an actual tool would be. I am sure your pleased as punch to have the Gradall back up to snuff besides a couple of the things you still want to do, but the blue monster ought to be right back to working its tail off. I am sure you both needed to sit back after this, looks like you guys put in a good chunk of work that day.. and the Milwaukee did a fine job putting that back off and spinning it off, impressive

Keeping things clean is a must. I build aircraft EHSV valves and actuators. It is amazing that something as small as a human hair (eyelash) can cause a failure and at 40,000 feet. We got a unit back from an Airbus A340 that failed in flight. When we tore it down literally piece by piece we found an eyelash had caused an internal seal leak. Burrs and sharp edges are rough on them too. Looks like JC has worked up a sweat while CE is cool and collected. Good job guys.

I wish CE SMITH was closer to me. I'd have him help me redo the seals on the bucket truck's hydraulics. He really knows what he's doing replacing that old seal.

I like the black (graphite) grease...was watching fly Sparks garage (RU-vid) & they had some PB blaster grease - I'm thinking it should work good for stubborn grease fittings (Hate those)...the portable fork lift work bench vise sounds like a Win to me - l'd put legs on in case the gradall had to leave to get or do something else
@j.c.smithprojects
@j.c.smithprojects 5 лет назад
i like the idea of a work bench with a big vise that can be secured to the gradall or stand on its own.

Hopefully you gave your workhorse some new fluid and filters... After time just like brake fluid hydraulic fluid picks up moisture.. Airframe and PowerPlant mechanic I started my career out on the ramp and then went to hydraulic shop and now I'm in the avionics shop cleaner job better pay but I sure do miss getting my hands. Have you had any problems with the high pressure lines collapsing internally from wear? How would I get a hold of you to find out what vehicles you have for sale? I prefer fleet maintain vehicles even with the higher mileage you know they're well taken car of most of the time.. You do quality work and I prefer to give my money to a guy like you on you tube..

@@j.c.smithprojects he was using it on to remove the rod nut on the grapple of the hydraulic ram off of A635 tiger cat skidder. It gave it a work out for sure the nut was a locking nut that is peened over at the factory. It didn't take it all the way off the battery shut down because of thermal overload.

There times when extream caution should be used when one is working with his hands aligning a part and another is working remotely aligning the same part hydraulicly. 26:24
