I love how the worst he could dig up on mark was, "he has colored hair and his nickname is markimoo." Just shows how much mark has kept his nose clean throughout his career.
Yes, and it is also interesting that the worst you could dig up on him is when he mocked someone for having their hair dyed several years ago. Just goes to show how much Grade has kept his nose clean throughout his career.
Can't begin to tell you how hard I laughed watching Keemstar exaggeratedly eating a burger while going cartoonishly bug-eyed hearing a story about domestic abuse.
I find it funny that the edgiest RU-vid channel of them all ended up being one of the only to escape without any serious blow to his reputation: Filthy Frank.

For me, it genuinely seemed like Grade went from being a nobody, to having millions of subscribers, to ruining his reputation all within the span of 2 months. I know it was probably longer than that, but it seemed to happen very quickly in my eyes.
The real shame is that his content started off as pretty good. His over-the-top rants about mundane shit were pretty funny. He just couldn’t stop himself from picking fights and getting involved in drama.

Ahh the time when keemstar, leafy, and grade put themselves in a tight box and somehow they nuked themselves leaving Keemstar to be the only survivor simply because dude's a roach and roaches are not affected by nuclear fallout😂

Just a friendly reminder that Mark dyed his hair red for CHARITY event, and if I remember correctly red colour was his viewers decision. I find it hilarious that out of everything he decided that it's the hair that makes him not take Mark seriously XD

This video really took off my rose tinted glasses and made me realise that the stuff i used to enjoy when i was around 11 wasn’t as great as i thought it was back then. I just accepted that Grade was a cool you-tuber i watched a while ago that just kinda died off, until i saw this I forgot all about the drama. Mental how nostalgia works.
Yeah I realized this around senior year and realized how much the drama community was just awful. The humor back then was bad it’s not wonder people can be so insensitive.
@@Crissaegrim-xv9cu yeah that's why people should always be aware of the influencers they watch or even worship. In the end these are internet personalities, they're not without flaws as human beings and sometimes even the most genuine looking RU-vidr could hide dark secret, especially with the recent Mammamax controversy. There are a lot of people pretending to do the "good fight" while behind the scenes they themselves hold or do something shady. It doesn't mean there are no genuinely good RU-vidrs, but one should always keep their eyes open for people they follow but don't actually know.
He’s INCREDIBLY lucky Reddit and RU-vid didn’t de-platform him. If he had tried any of these today, he wouldn’t have gotten past the first video. Reddit karma manipulation is horrendously against TOS as is RU-vid ad manipulation.
I think it's a big problem with fame in general, there is a small audience and big audience mentality and you have to grow at a pace that's healthy for you and your content. But you'll never know who is going to blow up overnight these days. It's easy to get sucked into the power that you might think you have then be shattered by the realization that you constantly have eyes on you at all times. These people that blow up overnight might not be used to be criticized much at all and now suddenly everyone is bearing down on them. This is why I try not to sweat being a small channel for so long, it's slow but at least I know I can handle the attention I do get.
Last time he returned to RU-vid, he dropped a chain of jokes so explicit I'm surprised RU-vid didn't react as fast as them doing the same thing to The Act Man. Being a RU-vid poster boy sure must've been a magical thing for these type of guys, and I was once a fan of Grade until I dropped the flag in favor of Podel.
What made him so funny was how outlandish his reactions were to small things that never mattered. Then he started talking about drama, so his over the top reactions, just seemed, well, over the top.
His overreaction over mundane life situations were funny until it started to be about youtuber drama and arguments, feels like he's just trying to mock the opponent's argument at this point
His whole style was just jumping to conclusions and yelling. Which was entertaining when it was about dumb stuff like public bathrooms, but it obviously didn’t work when talking about drama
Grade was basically the first "pngtuber" I ever got into (even though it wasn't called that at the time). If we only get one video per year from him, hey, it's better than zero.

Holy shit man, this video brought back so many memories from when i was younger and watched all the drama channels religiously, i remember being there for every step of this journey, kinda insane
The reason why drama against Keemstar never works: His whole content is drama, by raising drama against him you are merely bringing what feeds him to his doorstep and completely covering all the delivery and shipping fees on his behalf. Why people dislike Keem is understandable given his controversial format, but if you really want to "hurt" Keem you just don't feed him by not paying any regards to drama.
I love to see people mald over Keem being an asshole on the internet yet being a multi millionaire who owns multiple houses in New York. Despite all the people who have tried to end keems career he’s won which I find hilarious.
The only way to hurt keem would be to have connections to organised crime and get him to sleep with the fishes...not that I'd know anything about that, heh...

I appreciate all the work you put into the video and all its research! I used to be a Grade subscriber but I haven't watched him in years, so I learned a lot from this. I really enjoyed the watch :)
it's crazy how youtubers that i watched regularly years ago are now the subjects for in-depth analysis videos like this. personally, it puts into perspective the kind of people i was watching at the time and how things that they put out rubbed off on me, from grade to leafy to keem to ian and the shrimpson boys. what's especially interesting is the shit i didn't know, like with the troll and the extra lore shit involving grade and keem. like looking back at things with normal glasses instead of the "there'll never be anything like 2016 RU-vid" glasses. thanks for putting so much work into these video, tom.
@Bowl o’ Nugs oh, it's just that it's been a long time. I didn't expect that the people I watched back then to have such histories, even with the drama they were entangled in. The titles are too alt-right for my tastes, even though I know Leafy isn't apart of that crowd which his audience is so attracted to.
Watched grade back in the day didn't know anything about the reactor guy. Legitimately some of the best trolling with one the best reactions from the person trolled.
GradeAUnderA pushed for RU-vid to be friendlier to copyright claimers over people posting content that adds to the original content in any way. And then got his videos copyright claimed in spite of very little content actually coming from a different source. Gotta love it.
Maybe it's the spontaneity of the fact that it's a live stream versus something that could have been curated beforehand. Still, we watch people play video games all the time, and we watch for their reactions, so what difference does that make whether it's curated or spontaneous on the live stream?
I agree that they are both bad, but it does feel different when streamers do it. Watching a prerecorded video is one thing, but when it’s a streamer it kinda feels like you’re watching a video with your buddies.
@@ZachPlum i mean what if you actually liked Jinx or whoever makes reaction content. Plenty of people subbed to jinx at the time, you can consider watching it with him the same thing just thats ones prerecorded, the other live but ultimately its the same concept

grade was going through depression, and probably went back into depression shortly after trying to fix his life, uploading recently (with similar 'im back?' titles) and stuff. he is forever a someone i hold close to my heart. he probably couldnt understand the joke as that is one of the side effects of being a miserable old bastard. its just that when youre so down that every little inconvenience (even a tiny joke) makes you lose your fucking shit right? but when you react like that you feel even worse which creates a loop. ive been there, ive done that, and im even still there and doing that. we cant know anything for sure because this man is in unimaginable pain, amplified by the fact that if he werent in such a stoic frenzy and had the control to not act like that he could fully pull himself together. but this is why this situation is such deep shit. i hope this comment makes it to the right places because i dont even know if it is a smidgeon of understandable as i am drunk (haha balkan man drink funny) to forget about my feelings of not being able to feel my feelings, basically trying to numb numbness. amplified by the knowledge that being sober would allow me to pick myself back up. but maybe i dont want to, which proves my point, miserable people dont want to get better after a certain (uncertain) point. forgive grade as youd forgive me. i wish that man the resolution of his sins. the change in himself that he seeks.
you can see every phase of a man going insane on grade's channel, although it is taboo for me to defend him maybe, for fear of blindly defending a loved creator of mine out of nostalgia and getting blasted for it, and maybe i should conform, but i never have, i have the urge to provide for people that i genuinely respect and love (as there are so few of them) and although i dont agree with nearly half the things grade says i feel him and respect him as a person. i feel obliged to respect his presence as a human being. in a way he fills the void of an ever unpresent, ever troublesome elder brother that i just need to help because we are family. but because ive never felt what family feels like maybe i am just trying to boost his mood so he can keep being a monkey for my own entertainment. i feel some of you feel the insanity here. insanity is alright, not one sane person has ever made progress in this world as all sane people think in the norm and the current meta, like how when counter strike global offensive was a very new game, pro players (most of whom were veterans of the older counter strikes) did not utilise many molotvs/incendiaries even though theyre arguably the most powerful piece of utility. insanity is progress at the cost of the individual. most of the time it leads nowhere, but sometimes it is just enough to make a leap. so i respect this disgraceful maths teacher for being literally insane.

It was the same with Leafy. He was never even close to being 100% serious, he was just screwing around and talking shit, yet everybody took him completely seriously and demonized him for really nothing. There are creators that have said and done _much worse_ that are still on the platform now and are being paid millions by Google to do it.
@@Zeroshiki Honestly, Leafy was just shit. I mean, don't get me wrong, doesn't mean he can't stay on RU-vid or something. But the content cop, for instance, was a great example. He's just shit. What made me stop watch grade A. He made a video ranting about tipping and how servers are lesser for asking for them, then I'm the next breath had the nerve to ask people to support him on Patreon
If you're not from the US which most of the world is not then tipping is viewed as really stupid in a lot of places(because people are actually paid liveable wages at least in most first world countries) and is not the standard unless you're at a fancy restaurant or recieve exceptional service. Patreon is a little different imo but honestly I still see where you're coming from for sure and it's understandable why you stopped watching hahaha
@@austindecaux7895 Yeah in the UK (where GradeA is from) waiters are given living wages so it's not expected that you tip. Tipping is entirely optional and really only done if you're given exceptional service. I would be a bit annoyed if a waiter asked for a tip, since in UK you're expected to be humble and not ask for extra money, if you've earned it then you don't need to ask. In a lot of places, the service charge is already included and I find it quite deceptive when waiters don't point that out when I offer a tip, especially when it's like 25% already 😢 but I wouldn't think they're lesser for just asking, maybe if they demanded it lol. Waiters just want to make money like 99% of everyone else on the planet. Not talking down to you, just explaining in case any more Americans are confused at that view. It's so weird in USA that people are indoctrinated into paying workers wages for a company to the point that if you can't afford a tip because you're poor, then you're heckled as evil, as if it's _your_ fault a soulless multi-million corporation decided to have legal slaves.
