When we used to work out of town we had a check list of potential problems such as axtra hydraulic fluids and filters. Extra fuel and fuel filters and the most common hoses that have the greatest chance of blowing.
Best guys in this business are best at solving tough problems and sometimes multiple at once! No wonder Stan is so successful. Keeps calm and just dives in and figures it out!
With the grade change all around the tree infront of the garage I'd be worried about it being hazardous from having too many roots removed. You might want to consider taking that one out now proactively, 1, to prevent it from becoming a hazard as it will die from the root damage/soil compaction of running machines over it, 2 it will be easier to final grade out in front of the garage.
@@Dirtmonkey skid steer with a harley rake, stuff like that. It was my neighbors project, and he invited me over to watch/ learn. He used to do that before he retired!
That, was an awesome intro. I think you missed the thumbnail on that one. Not a bad job considering all things. That's was so cool about owning your own stuff, there's always something to do. Have a good one my brother, thank you for taking us along for the ride.
Thanks stan!!!! Would you mind do a video where you come along for the ride and talk to us about what is going on. Love when you do those kind. Have a blessed day!
Great Vid with lots of ideas for an issue I'm planning in the iron range of the Upper Peninsula MI. Stay well and keep your crew safe while pushing snow this year PS can't wait for those vids Merry Christmas
Wow,that ride-along was kind-of a rough ride!! Hit me head three times on the widow!! I always hate 😒 it when I am up the creek without 😒 an o-ring!! Fun video!! Thanks 😊.
Stan I just want to say that as a fellow youtuber I really appreciate all the work you do in producing videos like this. People dont realize the work involved in getting all those camera angles - Drone footage - and explaining what's going on - Oh and not to mention the works gotta get done the break downs gotta get fixed and the camera equipment has gotta make it off job without getting destroyed and then the 2hr editing process begins! Folks dont realize how doing a video on these jobs REALLY SLOWS production down. Thank God your on your own property and dont have a homeowner standing there or under a time crunch. Very nice videos man and i have learned alot from you - I only hope one day my videos will be as good and informative as your are! It Def a process and i have a lot to learn fosho!
You nailed it Ray, but technically we spend about 6-8 hours in editing each video. and it sure does slow down the project a ton. Work has to stop to move the cameras- its is a labor of love for sure. I wish you the best with your channel and your work!
Love watching you video's. I am a mechanical draftsman/designer by trade but my cousin and I co-own the old family home stead with access to a skid steer and attachments usually only used for moving manure or snow. Property needs work and your videos give me some insight on how to do the work as a novice/armature not a pro like you. Thanks for the advice, instruction. Who picks your background music it's great. Your Canadian Friend/Fan.
Dan the man picks the music and does the first edits, then I take it over from their. Its a team effort. best of luck with your place! Having access to a skid steer is huge!
Rinker Do is the technical term name . We can improvise to create the Rinker Do as Dirt Monkey does in this video. Thanks for the chuckle today much like someone calls a part a thingamagig in the mechanical area. Love your videos fro years now though i am 99% of the time a Lurker. O7 to you Sir!!!
I think the driveway is fine where you have it, just need to remove 5-6 trees on the edges and that one right in the center at the top and then some stone. Oh, an extension on the culvert would help biggly. After that, you'll be all set. Thumbs up as always.
That's a challenge with that Minnesota sandy soil. You need some rock and clay in that soil mix to best compact it and then run that serpentine driveway into Shangri' La Duce instead of the driveway you can see up and into your property from. I want a Skid Loader from Santa for Christmas after watching this.
Glad to finally see you with a 4:1 bucket. Hopefully it tilts as well. If not you are missing out. I don’t know why you don’t have teeth as it helps with break out. In Australia it’s very rare not to have teeth or tynes. Nice machines. I’ve had 6. A new 135HP has just been released soon catching up to a D6.
It might be a bit pricey, but shave the top of the hill to give the fill needed to reduce the pitch of the slope and then cap the top and sides of the driveway with a 4-6 inch thick slab of concrete...That should ensure that the fill stays put and gives a low-slope, easy to maintain driveway that's easy to plow/snow blow in winter since there's no risk of the plow/blower digging into the dirt/stone of the driveway... This way, the ONLY material that you need to import to the site is the concrete (and maybe an inch or 2 of good compacting base material for the slab if none can be found onsite)...
662k subscribers! I've been with you a long time, it has been fun to watch h your videos grow and change over the years. Great video as always. Thank you and God bless fellow Pollock.
I've been thinking of regrading the driveway at my family cabin. It has an 11% grade slope around a sharp curve, I'd like to reduce that to 7% or less. With how the property is allocated, I might have to cut in an entirely new driveway next to the existing one. Our cabin is a landlocked property so we only have access by driving up the mountain and back down our neighbor's driveway. We're about ⅓ up the mountain, high enough to get a steady breeze but not too high as to be seen atop the hill.
5.1k views 600 likes! Wtf people if you watch it like it!! Don't you relize we get this content for free! Stan has spent thousands and thousands of dollars on video equipment and even pays people to edit. The least you can do is like his amazing content so he can get compensated for his time and amazing talents. Love yea Stan happy holiday if i could like 100 times I would!!!!
It is hard to hear you talk while the skid steer is running, or it might be my hearing aids not separating the sounds well. Good to see machines in action.
It’s interesting the difference in terrain around the country. For us here that’s a pretty mild driveway to cut. It’s not unusual to have a 75-100’ elevation change on a lot that gets prepped for a home. Wheeled units are completely useless unless its flat here. Cool video.
Lesson 1 always have zip ties with you. Lesson 2 take hydraulic fluid with you. Keep on making this videos! I keep on learning alot from you. Stay safe and a happy newjear!!!
Stan , an important thing to remember when filming from inside a machine , is that the machine noise drowns out your voice , especially when facing away from the camera's microphone . Extremely difficult to hear what you're saying .
Dang you can do a lot with that little thing. I have a full size dozer, a skid steer and a track hoe working on my driveway now for 3 days and have half of what you did. Its a crazy steep one too @ about 600’ long.
Standley I do not know dirt perfect but he has a regis reak with love made buy AMI it does one great job ok this is Bob from Vero beach fla. God bless have a great day and Marry Christmas
Great video Stan. Thought you were busy with work, but found out that RU-vid canceled my subscription to you again! I’ve got a lot of catching up to do lol
Please voice over when you're in the bobcat or equipment. It's so quiet I can't hear a word you're saying. Other than that you and the whole dirt monkey squad are the tops in my book. Merry Christmas Happy New Year hopefully we all stay happy and healthy.
Half a tank of gas, a full pack of cigarettes, it's midnight, and we are wearing sunglasses...hit it!!! Blues Brothers is what came to mind, when you said that!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Stan You’ve got a real change you’re in the land of hard freeze and long thaw! To do it right won’t you need a tile drainage with silt sock down each side then geo-fabric with repair over 53’s?? And a heavy crown? That grade is a killer!
Gee Stan you just made it easier for those thieves to come in and take whatever they want now. In all seriousness it's sad how the world thinks anything they want is theirs come in and just take it. Just like selling catalytic converters is illegal in quantity yet they're being stolen all over the place and sold somewhere imagine that. A machine shop down the road from me had every vehicle hit that was sitting in their parking lot one night.
Hey, so that's the same thing I wanna do in my back yard. Relandscape the whole thing so some of steep spots are more manageable and build a deck and green house where I'm gonna excavate and move to level other spots.
Im thinking the Long Term Plan would be the better Option. I mean overall its your choice. I think thing the Long Term Plan would look alot nicer. Then having one big pile of fill Dirt piled up straight from road using the existing Driveway. Even if you did like some sortof Retaining Wall for it. I think it would just look bit out of place for the area really. Plus It might Cost alot more to. At least I think it would.
I know that you've had your fair share of skid steers over the year's! Not sure of you are willing but would you be able to do a maintenance / upkeep video on the ASV verses your other machines? I've been looking at them and watching other ASV owner video's. I'm concerned / hesitant on the overall maintenance on that track system! I've heard amazing things about them but I've also heard about costly repairs / maintenance on the boggy wheels, linkages and such. Great to see some dirt moving going on. Hopefully people will stay out of there seeing that work is getting done.
Hi had HydroMac track skid steer‘s and the drive wheels went through the tracks which allowed mud to squish in and fill up the track system other manufactures do the same thing. I switch to ASV because the track cleans out better and it does not have the holes in the track to allow the mud in. And that mud is like sandpaper when it dries and that’s what Destroys your track system
Your channel used to interesting, but little by little, you have been dropping cogs. , Ok, the guy with the drag snow plow that kept shearing pins, wasn't really your problem, however the fix was simple. But the show where the dump trailer would not always fully dump. Was the start of you loosing your cogs. What a stupid situation to present,. Have you figured it out yet? Now you present this dumbass video,. Where is the danger with this driveway? If you compare the level of the road, and compare it to the height of the top of the drive way, you would see that proper grading your dangerously steep drive is nothing at all. Stick with landscaping and leave cause instruction to people who know what they're doing
Surprised you kept the tree in front of the storage shed. Also those scrub trees along the drive path , do you have plans to remove them to widen? On a side note whom ever is editing your videos is doing a great job. Love watching this channel.
Agreed..I like doing jobs like this, but always have an initial understanding with the homeowner about trees in the way. Also the expense of having a wheeled or trench roller, and if the native material isn't good structurally, we haul in good stuff and compact for longevity. If they're not good with that, on to the next.
Looking forward to the rest of this journey and how it comes together God bless yah and Merry Christmas to you and the Dirt Monkey Crew. From Gaffney South Carolina viewer
Happy Monday stan, ho are things going, how was the weekend. Today just flew on by, i got to cook the entire culinary class pancakes today, and i did it by myself, i thought that they all deserve some good food since their making cookies for the entire school. We have almost 5,500 cookies since i last checked. And my teacher ordered lots of hot chocolate for the entire school and is making it fresh on our last day which is a Thursday. Gonna be nice. Hey say Christmas is gonna be warm. I hope not. I was really hoping for a white Christmas. But hey, you can’t control Mother Nature. But yes, i got my mom some accessories for her new grill. She doesn’t know what i got she got. Oh and my dad for his Christmas, he is getting a dewalt circular saw 6 1/2 inch blade. And a dewalt impact gun, I’m making sure they have a nice Christmas. Well stan, i hope you have a good night, god bless and go get em, your pal and friend, Alexander costa
If I ever meet Stan in real life I will have to pull the Hey Stan come here and smell this...with the way he has to smell things I think he would... The Pollock in him would also return the favor...lol
@@Dirtmonkey Anytime Stan. its too bad you guys dont have the mine tailings to work with down there. I can only imagine all of the things you could put it to use for. some mines its even free to come and get it and they even leave a loader by it to load your dump truck. it makes great driveways as iy packs fast and hard, requires zero maint, and no mud at all or potholes.
You almost need a bulldozer to push the bigger piles of dirt and be able to feather it out as you go down the hill. The skid steer would be good for making the pile.
loooking at the floor kevel of the garage compared to the ground it looks like years of leaves built up that you bladed away too made decent soil under there
