Ikr what if Scoot is worse version of Morant and Miller is closer to Tatum or KD? What will ppl say then? I prefer Scoot but Miller has a high ceiling too. I remember ppl saying in 2017 Tatum didn’t have as high of a ceiling as Markelle Fultz
@@mbayadjii think scoot is great but he does not have an elite mid range, his mid range isnt even good. I do agree that he probably will improve his shooting a lot tho
@@mbayadji he could have the the prettiest jumper. 27% from 3 is 27% no matter how it looks. and a month with Steph isnt gonna change that. Russ played with KD for years and his jumper hasnt improved at all. Theyvare juat gonna back off him and force him to shoot. People just put too much stock into athleticism and forget skill and match ups are the number 1 factor. I think Scoot will be a good scorer on a bad team while Miller will open up the the court for Ball bc you have to respect his jumpshot.
yall sleeping on Miller HARD, bro is an amazing shooter at his position, for the 2nd worst 3 point % team in the NBA, he is a very good wing with defensive and offensive abilites like paul george, undersized point guards are so incredibly common these days, tall and 2 way capable wings are probably the rarest of breeds, miller over scoot.
I'm a scoot fan but He played 2 yrs on ignite and made very little improvement in his game. Brandon Miller proved that he had a strong mental fortitude being able to perform while dealing with very public off the court issues every where he went he had a hostile crowd and performed. Mindset sometimes is a safer bet than potential. Plus Brandon has the ability to be a 2 guard and he and melo maturing together can possibly be the best back court in the NBA sooner than later
I think it’d be better to run Melo/Terry/Miller/Miles/Mark for now with PJ coming off the bench and then having one of Charlotte’s 1000 SG’s (Mainly NSJ, Amari or McGowens) keep developing until one of them reaches a high enough level or get one in a trade/free agency. In my personal opinion Miller fits better at the 3 as it would allow Charlotte to construct a better defense later on (both NSJ and Amari were good defenders in college) and also because Miller said he’s a SF himself.
i get what you’re saying about bmiller performing well in college even through the legal issues but during the tournament he actually shitted the bed lol
A 5 year old throwing darts at names would draft better than MJ. He's the worst to ever be employed by any team any sport. BM will be a solid role player to a very good one, I guess
Grading Brandon Miller C+ is criminal. He is a legit baller with a lot of upside and for his age, he is very matured. The Hornets might be one of the worst franchises but come on. I'm sure their workout with the two obviously made a big change EDIT: YOU KNOW THIS IS A SATIRE STATEMENT RIGHT? FROM THE WORD CRIMINAL, YOU SHOULD KNOW IT AT THAT POINT ALREADY.
Clearly not man ncca basketball watchers but scoot w lemelo would be terrible for both that upside dies for one or both bc lemelo needs the ball & in transition as pg as he passes or scores from it & neither a stand & shoot guy so fit matters bc scoot would lose & be Marcus smart type w Charlotte at best w lemelo there as a dominant usage guard
@@bambambigelowlove5307no one expected him to become what he became u draft prospects based on what you think they will be. If you told me he would become a 2x MVP a DPOY and a finals MVP I would have probably laughed you out of the room. You can say this guy this that guy that but at the end of the day how do you know they would have turned out the same way.
Love it for the wizards, complete turn around lol cant beileive knick smith wasnt drafted higher, and cam fell so low. Was hoping ausar went to Orlando, another PG for the magic 😬
Arkansas fan here and nick smith did not play much and when he did he didn’t look like a top pick. It would’ve been real risky to draft him. He was great in high school but not sure how he will be when he moves up.
While scoot might be a better prospect in a vacuum without thinking of fit Miller brings shooting, size and defense to Charlotte. We do not need another guard but we do need bigs
Drafting for fit is what leads to teams drafting Ayton over Doncic because Luka overlaps with Booker, or drafting Wiseman instead of Lamelo because you already have Steph and Klay. You should almost always draft for talent over fit, good players will figure out the fit.
I would say they do need another guard, one they lack is another guard next to Melo, terry ain't it, it's the reason we got bouknight, they have have ton of forwards but don't mean thay can't get better there with miller, but you can't draft for fit u draft for higher upside, and another big man would be nice
A C - for Brandon Miller? Are you truely a reference for hoops??? Please make a video actually pointing out why Scoot Henderson is sooo much better than Brandon Miller. It seems like all the Scoot lovers can't substantiate why he is such a star by explaining the parts of his game that make him better than Miller.
But that’s the thing. I think there are intangibles such as work ethic, maturity, determination and motor that are always found in great players. And that’s what sets scoot apart from Miller. While the talent is close as you said, those intangible qualities can’t be taught and like I said are common in all great players.
@@zachdavis3817 ok so Scoot has intangibles huh and work ethic??? Miller obviously has the work ethic as well b/c at the beginning of the year people complained that Miller couldn't finish at the rim. Miller improved in that area throughout the year and that was no longer an issue. Scoot can't shoot that's the motto right??? Well he was in the G-League 2 whole years where was his effort to improve shooting??? Scoot has a montage sir of air balls from the 3-pt line. That's not good to me. But we'll see b/c you all that root for Scoot (punn intended lol) exclaim he is (already b4 we see him play) one of the best PG's in the league. Even though he wasn't the best PG in the G-League and there hasn't been a player solely from the G-League that has transitioned well and really panned out in the NBA yet. So history is against your bias for Scoot but we'll see...good luck.
Hoops Reference should rename his RU-vid to Mixtape Menace. He did this sh*t last year with Keegan Murray and Jaden Ivey. He prefers athletic guards that do not know how to play team-oriented winning basketball over two-way forwards. It's absolutely ridiculous
I can see it already. I can see Wemby turn up to Spurs training and Popp pulls him aside and says listen to me, you're gonna cut out that shooting and dribbling bullshit, build some muscle and keep your ass in that paint
Brandon miller gone be a 20 plus ppg scorer he gone space the floor relieve some playmaking from lamelo and be solid on D Charlotte finally making smart draft choices
Scoot would be the first pick in many different drafts and I do think he’ll be better than Brandon Miller, however the “always talent over fit” is such an overrated argument because if it’s a terrible fit (which I believe scoot in Charlotte could’ve been) it will hamper that players development and they’ll never reach their full potential. In cases where picking “talent over fit” has actually worked out (there isn’t as many as you’d think) it’s usually because the incoming prospect is good enough to replace the current player at their position but Lamelo is obviously their franchise player so what’s the point. I for one was not excited to watch him and Scoot struggle over ball handling duties and trade rumors for years.
Well who has the higher upside lamelo or scoot, bc that's what you need a all nba type, so you draft the best u can. If you taken someone at number u better be sure a multiple all star player who can lead a team as a number 1 or 1.5
oh and dude, scoot is a terrible fit in portland...we needed to trade him and we didnt because our gm doesnt do his job, doesnt care, and jus lied again n again to dame and everyone..its quite insane. SO now Dame could be leaving and our team isn't gonna make sense and have zero defense. its so fucked up man. we should be stoked, but if u know ball and the lies cronin did, its crazy. they wanted to keep dame, now they horribly forcing him out..forcing out the most loyal best player, who he didt help..why would he help scoot? grahe wont, and players will leave..like grant
@@TheSadistNat1on yea i don’t expect scoot and dame to be together over a year at the absolute maximum. I think Scoot, Shaedon Sharpe, and whatever you get for dame is an incredible start to a rebuild tho.
@@devinmccurry5546 Dawg Lameo is a 6'7 point guard, he would DOMINATE any other point guard who are avergly 3-4 inches smaller and even more, Miller is a perfectly sized, good defender, long arms, amazing shooting, it's such an easy no brainer, miller was the right pick.
Idk there is just something to be said that almost every NBA executive and team saw miller as the better choice. I wanted Scoot but I think there is a reason B Mill was taken before him.
Scoot will have a better HOF Career imo forsure but trust me the Charlotte Hornets need to play it safe , 6’9 swiss army knives that play like Paul George are not easy to pass up either
Maybe scoot is the more talented player NOW but 5-10 years from now, I think B-Mill will be a better player because of the fit which is why I think charlotte this time, made the right pick. If they (Charlotte) are smarter this around, I’d trade Hayward for another all star or a big then trade Terry for more depth
Cam Whitmore will be the biggest mis the top 19 teams lost out on! I watched him all season after his thumb injury. He is NBA ready and incredible. Should have gone top 5
yeah its like what happened to michael porter junior mpj was seen as a 15 y/o kevin durant and projected as the first pick for so many but teams passed on him until the nuggets came with i think the 14th or so pick and stole him and now hes part of a finals team
@@brome42 they both fell cuz of injuries, cam whitmore also reportedly has a "bad" ego and had terrible interviews. He was also consistently terrible at defending at most nba workouts, combine all of that with a injury history and theres really no surprise that he fell.
For a person like Miller who is confused between a favorite player and G.O.A.T, C+ is a generous grade… what else is new with the Hornets they suck at draft since they gave Kobe away
Trust me, most Hornets fans wanted Scoot but I am very tired of channels/media acting like Brandon Miller was the 34th best prospect in the draft or something
I haven't done extensive research on the #1 overall pick but injury conerns have to be enormous. His height paired with his thin frame make his first SEVERAL seasons career defining. If he's carefully protected he might have a chance.
I don't understand why everyone is sleeping on PG2.0. Miller is going to be an absolute stud and the sky is the limit. Could very well be an MVP candidate one day.
Drafting for fit severely limits your teams upside. Not necessarily, its not like Henderson is leagues beyond Miller. Plus, Miller has higher potential in the future and Hendersons play style raises injury concerns.
Fit is a lot of the time what's going to make a player become the better player. You don't try to fit 2 of the same puzzle piece together for a reason. Both Miller and Scoot will be fine
@@PleaseEnlightenMe82anybody who followed the team knew we needed paolo. 6’10 shot creator. Everything else was just distraction… other than Franz and the number 1 pick they’ve missed on everything else. Probably these 2 as well
The Hornets pick is definitely a contentious one. I agree that, especially at the top of the draft, picking for fit is a mistake, but I don't think that is what happened in this case. Charlotte hosted both Scoot and Miller (separately) this past week for a 2nd workout for each. It was reported that Charlotte likely Scoot a lot, but that Miller had blown them away in this past workout with his shot making abilities. I think they genuinely drafted who they thought was the better player, and that player also happened to be a better fit. Whether Scoot will be better than Miller is certainly debatable, but can't fault the Hornets for getting the guy they liked more.
It really makes no sense to "grade" a draft right after it happens...maybe after three seasons then we'll have a good idea which teams made the right picks and which ones didn't. I'm sure in 2019 most everyone gave NOLA an A+ for Zion Williamson but that one hasn't panned out at all.
Idk how Miller is a c-, scoot is gonna be good but miller is still a stud a sharpshooting wing who has huge upside. Miller and scoot are both great prospects
Kind of wish the Thunder would have kept Lively. Really could use some more size. Wallace seems like a home owners policy, not flashy but important to have
The pick made more sense than drafting a Center just to have a Center. Cason Wallace fits the exact mold of player Sam Presti loves, a switchable, versatile, smart, player who can defend, play make, and shoot when open. Lively is more of a project than anything else and the Thunder have enough projects right now with Poku and Dieng. Just getting Chet back for next season will solve a lot of issues with rim protection and seeing as only 3 Centers were taken in the draft at all, the Thunder could easily sign a decent undrafted prospect like Adama Sonogo from Uconn, or Oscar Tshibwe from Kentucky if they really want a true Center.
Bro idk if y’all know how draft trades works bro when teams do trade the other teams select the player they was going to draft anyways so okc wasn’t trying to get lively
😂😂😂imagine giving the Hornets an C- for drafting Brandon Miller... Hoops Reference lost all credibility last year with Keegan Murray. That trend continues this year
The magic don’t need another star. They have Paolo and Franz. And from what we saw last year Fultz still has all star potential along with all defensive capabilities if he keeps getting better. It was better for them to play it safe because they already have 3 all star upside guys.
Anthony Black definitely has an all star/ all NBA caliber ceiling. He looks like a casual with this video. He gave the Brandon Miller pick a C- like Scoot is just worlds better than Miller. This video has me shaking my head quite a bit to be honest
@@ziggzagg8878 he looked pretty dumb with this video like if they were to have picked scoot that would be a terrible fit together the hornets have their main piece they dont need another 1 number scoring option they get someone that can still give 20 a night butt also spacethe floor and give some good d so i think its actually a pretty good pick would have rated it like a b or b+
Agree! Paolo, Franz and Fultz are going to be special for years. WCJ is a perfect fit as well. Honestly, I hoped the Magic would trade their picks for a veteran shooter, but since there weren't many of those available, I'll trust that Jeff Weltman and John Hammond knows what they are doing.
Dynamic, athletic undersized guards rarely win championships in the NBA as the number one guy. That's why you take an athletic wing player that can shoot. Scoot may have more raw talent, but Brandon is the prototype of what wins in the modern NBA. If both players hit their ceiling it's a Russell Westbrook/Paul George type debate. One is more accomplished individually, the other is still excellent and has led teams to deeper playoff runs as the number one option.
Here’s my question. If someone does the best they possibly could on something, wouldn’t they get an a+? You only face the scoot pick an a is if there were better options on the board that would have earned an a+
I have a bad feeling that the Thompson twins may get shown up a bit against stronger competition, not to the point where they are bad players, but in a redraft they go mid first round
Is the skill difference from Sccot and Miller that big? Lol i dont think so. Scoot may be better, but i dont think its that much with what you graded it
The magic already got their number one option star in palo, and nice 2- 3 option premieter threat in wagner, they just need someone to help run the offense and help lead, on both sides of the floor, and their guards just hasnt been developing properly outside fultz
Not arguing the fact that scoot is better than miller. I wished we picked scoot too but I guess a good fit is the number one priority for a bottom dwelling team rather than drafting top level talent.
Pistons shooting is a lot better than 31 and 34% once Ivey got control of his game he was 🔥🔥🔥 and well, I can't really defend Cade but he shot pretty consistently after his 0/21 (horrible I know) start. Conventional wisdom says pistons need shooters around cade/ ivey but honestly I think they'll have an effective 2 man game and having a legit defensive WING (hendricks, walker, black aren't wings) will plug a more important hole for this roster
Imo, Charlotte should've taken Scoot and traded Lamelo Ball. Lamelo is doing well but I don't see him worthy of building a contending team around. Scoot seems to be that player and I think they're gonna regret their decision for years to come.
Lively is actually very underrated finally they can sit Powell who should of been out the league awhile ago. He so bad. Lively is like DeAndre Jordan 2.0 with a little Anthony Davis shot Blocking.
How do you give anthony black a b- for not having "star potential", but give bilal coulabali a b+ and taylor hendricks a A-. Bilal and hendricks are going to be the 2 biggest busts in the draft especially bilal. Anthony black is going to be like a scottie barnes, josh giddey type player with better shooting.
Why would you take scoot who is 6’2,ball dominant and not much of a 3point shooter over a 6’9 2-3 that can shoot and get to the basket if you Charlotte you made the right decision.
Mitch literally said shooting was the reason they chose miller over scoot. I want a scorer, not a highlight maker. Scoot will give you Westbrook highlights and miss outside shots constantly. Miller will avg more ppg than scoot over a career. Also, the Hawks took the 6'1 Trae over 6'7 Luka and regretted that. In basketball, height is a MAJOR factor.
Exactly. Scoot's upside is Russell Westbrook or Ja Morant. His downside is Emmanuel Mudiay. Just because an guard is hyper-athletic doesn't mean anything. Dude still needs to figure out how to play in the league
People act like drafting for fit as an automatic L. Sure- if the guy who “fits” is a scrub. but Brandon Miller is an incredible talent worthy of the Top 5 pick.
The fact that you couldn’t knock Millers game is why exactly why the Hornets took Miller. He is a heck of a player. Drafting upside is what the Sixers did and failed out all those years.
So happy my Magic took who I wanted at #6, Anthony Black. We needed an elite passer and distributor. I preferred Gradey Dick over Jett Howard at #11 but Howard does have better ball skills than Dick...with NBA bloodlines.
Utah jazz picking up Hendricks was a great pick in my opinion. Him alongside with Kessler and lauri is a crazy trio. He’s more versatile than kessler tbh
Rockets and Pistons both had a great draft! Let's go Pistons! Anthony Black, Cason Wallace, and Marcus Sasser, Jarace Walker, and Taylor Hendricks will be good NBA players
You missed the Miller pick. He is better than Henderson. Henderson really looks like a bust unfortunately, he really lacks confidence and his lack of size and poor shot is a real problem.
The honest are doing what the nugget did, build a team from the draft and you pick the best to fut your team not just who is the best raw talented player.
No you don’t. That’s what gets Suns Ayton over Luka. Warriors, Wiseman over Lamelo. Think of what the kings did, couldn’t have Fox and Tyrese so they flipped Tyrese for Sabonis and now they’re actually in the playoffs.
