With Ihart’s 3rd year not being guaranteed I think the 29M a year isn’t so bad. Doesn’t affect us re signing Jdub and Chet, doesn’t affect shai’s money and we’re trying to win rn which he’ll help with.
@@michaelstark570 with Clax off the market it just made sense to splash out for ihart, even if he isn’t isn’t the greatest fit in the starting 5 he can still play meaningful backup C minutes, but I think him anchoring the middle will slow Chet to play more freely on both ends
The contract number almost doesn’t even matter because it won’t affect any of our big moves coming up in a couple years. It got him on the roster so it was the perfect number
If he doesn't work... Good luck moving 30M a year for a bench role player... This isn too bad this year bc of the situation... But is ihart and u are paying him more the a lot of better players...
@@felipebolzoni5245 first off all he’s gotta do is rebound, set screens, and pass decent to be worth the contract and do you really think Presti would’ve given him this money without being 1000% sure he’ll be able to keep Shai, JDub, and Chet together?
Idk how people are hating on klay lol. On his worst year, he still averaged 18, 39% from three on 9 threes a game. That’s still a great year. To get that for only 16.6 mil a year is great
Just a running joke, Klay isn’t nearly what he used to be and a lot more inconsistent but for sure he’s still a top top tier role player at this point in his career
OKC landing Hartenstein is an A+ and if your reasoning is it’s an overpay then you just don’t know what you’re talking about lol we can afford to overpay. Our roster would be the exact same if we were able to get him for free but overpaying is a requirement for a small market team like OKC
Yeah, OKC - Hartenstein is an A+. OKC needs the size if they want to compete deep into the playoffs on the west. The contenders on the west got Jokic, AD, Gobert + KAT, Lively/Gafford and emerging Wemby and Sengun. You dont expect to make it deep if Chet is their only big.
@@mungriyaw lack of size wasn’t our biggest problem against the Mavs even though box score watchers swear it was, but having an extra guy to throw out to bang down low and protect the rim would’ve been nice for sure. Lively’s not gettin 28 rebounds in game 6 with Hart out there
Paul George getting a higher grade than James Harden doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If you watched the Clippers last year, Harden was clearly still better. He's making less money on a shorter contract while PG will be making close to 60m when he's 38.
You know. Why OKC had to overpay him? Because they can't get any free agency. He's the best free agent That's the thunder sign in their history. So if you're a small market, you gotta overpay for the players you need. They overpay now so they can have them later on
With the roster they have now I don’t think they’d have a problem bringing anyone in during free agency. Hartenstein was a vital need and in most situations you have to overpay in free agency.
yesterday the clippers signed derrick jones jr, kris dunn, nic batum, kevin porter jr and mo bamba 😳 one or two of those guys might fall out of the rotation but damn... that's a nice way to add some depth after losing your guy
There's just no way you can't give OKC an A+ on the Hartenstein move. He fixes virtually every possible problem OKC had last year and the money doesn't even matter because his contract doesn't interfere with any core players on the team already. Overpay for the quality of player? Maybe, but it isn't an actual overpay with the extreme cap flexibility they had
I have to disagree with the Hartenstein grade. Thunder is a small market team. That’s not a bad contract at all. He doesn’t interfere with any of the other players contracts extension and he last year is not guaranteed. There no risk for the thunder giving him that contract
@@emilfrederiksen.1622 sure you can say it’s a slightly overpay but he fixes all the thunder problems and his contract doesn’t interfere with anyone else on the thunder. The Thunder have no risk in giving him this deal. How can it only be a B when there only positives?
I think the reason OKC had to play 5 out so much is because they didnt have a big besides Chet which is an incredible floor spacer. I think Hartenstein is going to give them defensive versatility on teams like Denver and the lakers in a playoff series. I see OKC doing a lot of 4 out this year.
iHart is a clear A+. The overpay doesn't matter in this instance, the cap space was there to be filled and he was the best possible player they could have got without giving up assets. Add that the team option on the 3rd year when they'll extend chet and dub and you got yourself a perfect deal.
The media really dont like the mavs at all man, ESPN has really brainwashed people into disliking Luka and the mavs will never get the credit and respect they deserve because of it.
Ya they needed a big badly and showed in the playoffs the lack of moves at the trade deadline killed your momentum in the playoffs Gordon Hayward gigantic number 0 in the playoffs really helped them…anyways good pick up
Fans of big market teams just dont understand! Small markets gotta overpay to get anyone! Give Sam Presti and the Thunder organization a big market like LA or NYC, and they win a championship years ago. The fun is in the challenge, though. Winning one championship in OKC is worth more than 10 in any big market.
@emilfrederiksen.1622 That's crap!?!?!?! How can you say that? Is it not common knowledge that big market teams have the advantage??? I mean... do you honestly think it's a level playing field? I'm not saying that the Lakers championship in 2020 doesn't mean anything, but it means a lot more if they were the Trailblazers. Killing me man.
@fathertoad9571 San Antonio is, I think 7th largest American city - population wise. But SA is definitely considered a small media market. A lot of "smaller" cities -population wise - have larger media markets...more corporate based businesses. That IS why SA is considered small market. When the NBA talks about small markets, yeah, San Antonio, OKC, Portland, Utah, Memphis......
I feel Like the Hartenstein deal is secretly amazing because even if he doesn't work out there that is a pretty large contact for matching salaries in a trade with all those picks they still have
To pay Hartenstein 29 mil a year to fix only one issue (probably the only real issue they had last year, rebounding) is a little much but they did have to hit the salary floor. They can also always stagger the minutes between him and Chet, also Chet defensively is better at the 5 but if KAT was able to transition to the 4 then Chet definitely can if it’s not for the full game
Chet’s def playing the 4, as good as Chet is defensively he’s to small to keep up with certain teams and there rebounding wasn’t great. He will be a great 4 still yall matchup really good against teams like the nuggets and wolves now
The Hartenstein move was one of the best imo, did you watch them in the playoffs? When Chet was out the game the entire team went to crap. iHart playing 20 mins a game will keep him fresh and he gives them an insurance policy for Chet(who missed his entire rookie season). But they had to pay up he's only 26 and the market for a good Center is thin. Win now mode for OKC.
For sure tho, but it depends on the result how can CP3 impact on Spurs gameplay. It'll be an eye opener for castle to orchestrate plays when there's CP3 who can execute properly. Base on his plays in GSW I take he can still give a thing or 2 for the lad. The PNR and lob is a given when there's a guy like Victor, what castle need to learn is efficiency and high IQ plays cause Paul has only 1.3 Turn over per game Fcking insane, and his plays shows otherwise.
I didn’t realize okc was paying hartenstein 29 mil a year that’s crazy lol maybe I don’t understand player value but there’s no way he should make more then 20 mil a year lol
didn’t realize klay was a sign and trade and that we got Green. Love that deal, was hoping to get him in the PJW deal. Pretty much gave up PJW and some 2nds for Green/Williams/Curry and a 1st
Its easy for Obi hes the backup 4 and Jarrace will play the backup 3, Mathurin will play the backup 2. There isnt really a log jam if you watch the Pacers and know what positions they play on a nightly basis. PG Hali/ TJ/ tbd SG Nemby/ Mathurin/ Shephard SF Nesmith/ Walker/ Furphy PF: Pascal/ Obi/ (James Johnson hopefully) C: Turner/ Jackson/ tbd While with this being a full 10 man rotation with the benefit of having Shep to come in with others in foul trouble. Plus Obi made over 100+ 3s while shooting 50+ percent from the field and 40+ percent from 3. He found his fit and got a bag for it. Also would like to add 9 out of 13 current people on the roster are under 25.
No there’s a big log jam. You think Sheppard is going to play no minutes after playing well in the playoffs and starting in the Eastern Conference finals? There’s no way. Sheppard has proved himself Jarace hasn’t yet.
@@tyjohnson9974I agree I’m a bit shocked the Pacers didn’t include him in the Sikam trade so they must still value Jarace highly But again how is he going to get minutes with Topin and Sikam in front of him hopefully he either shows out in camp or maybe the Pacers use him as a trade piece and he goes to a team where he gets minutes
@@jalenjohnson0339 I think the way is for him to get minutes at the 3 which is definitely possible but from the way Sheppard played it looks very hard for him to pass him up
how can you give the Klay deal a B+ and the IHart deal a B? Hartenstein is the only thing OKC was missing last season meanwhile Klay brings 3 point shooting but they have also lost out on defense by letting go of DJJ. a lineup where Klay, Kyrie and Luka are starting won't work in the long run, teams will score 150 points on them.
Indy also added James Wiseman today, so uh... yeah... Taking the Pistons route of just overloading their roster with as many big men as possible for some wacky reason. Denver keeps allowing their key rotation pieces they need to contend to just... walk away for some weird reason. First Bruce Brown, now KCP. That's a huge issue for them.
This is how I find out Jalen Smith went to the Bulls? Damn, he's a really solid player with high potential, in my opinion. I wish we would've kept him.
PG is def an A grade, yes in a few years he’s gonna be older making a lot of money, but you’re worried about right now if you’re the 76ers, you want a championship right now and he is the perfect fit in their lineup
I'm telling you, everyone counting out the Hornets. Give us one healthy season and were in the playoffs and now with the personnel changes, were on the come up fast.
I agree with you man with the Pacers like where the minutes for Jarace man if Toppin and Sikam are in front of him if I’m Jarace I’m asking for a trade so he could at least get some minutes
Man it hurt losing Derrick Jones jr had a great season for us and gonna miss them lobs.. but I’m happy with bringing in klay and naji Marshall really hoping a change of scenery gets klay back to the old him. He had some flashes last year of old klay but only a handful of times. Can’t be worse than having Tim hardaway jr out there. Losing Josh green after his playoff performance kinda sucks he’s definitely improved but happy Jaden Hardy is finally gonna get his time to shine‼️ GO MAVS
The PG contract doesn’t matter b/c while the sixers did overpay for him you’re paying him that money for the player he is now and if the sixers don’t make a serious title run in that time frame they’re probably gonna be moving off of Joel anyway so it makes sense to go all in now and if over the next two-three years or so they don’t make any real noise they’ll be looking to rebuild or should be at least and if they do make a serious title run or even win one then the money is negligible
We wanted the best available center. If we wasn't going to pay him someone else would have. Plus signing Ihart doesn't affect anyone on our roster. We didn't want no one else in free agency anyways.
you really shit the bed on the Magic breakdown. You are talking about shooting with the magic review. With KCP and suggs in the backcourt, you have 2 2nd team defenders. add in Franz very underrated defense and Issac coming off the bench, this team is going to be a monster on defense.
I've said it many times and I'll keep on saying it, this guy's ball knowledge is absolutely horrible, klay signing with the mavs is literally an A+ move and absolutely nothing less, especially for only 16 mill a year, low risk very high reward move, dude can go off at any moment, will always be lights out from 3, and can still play really good defense, it's nothing short of an exceptional signing for dallas
He doesnt like the mavs bro, he doesnt like luka either. In the regular season he had Shai over Luka for the MVP and when Jokic won he said Luka didnt deserve it over him
definitely some bias in that ihart grading.. yes its an overpay but this will soon be a norm with the way these salaries are growing, and when this was the final piece you needed based on last season's shortcomings, plus they still have a lot of assets and even some cap space, then it doesn't really matter how big the contract is
L on the Thunder grade. He solves their rebounding issues and he fits the kind of basketball they want to play. Great defender and good on offense. He and Chet can play with and without each other. It’s also, OKC. They have to overpay a little to get free agents like that. Especially to get them to leave a place like New York and the situation he was in as well. They had the cap space too, and the 3rd year is non guaranteed. Essentially a two year deal. So why not? This is an A+ signing for me.
Sorry, your take on the IHart deal just sounds like a hurt Knicks fan. No chance there is any downside to this 2 year deal. There is no such thing as an overpay if you have to spend to get to the floor and that cap can't be spent on anything else. Who cares if they spent 15M or 29M. It isn't our money. Just because a player gets paid more than your expectation doesn't mean it is a bad deal.
“B For hartenstein. Yes they become the nba favorites”. Isn’t that the ENTIRE point of making this acquisition? To put them to the top? All season okc was crucified for not getting size and when they do they get no love. Using the contract as the excuse is also bad.. okc basically has to use that money anyways and the contract ends when their max contracts are handed out to Chet and Jalen Williams. This is all upside with almost no downside. Uniformed take there
i disagree with the paul george signing they didn’t sign him for the full four years they are willing to bite the bullet of the last two years bc they are in a closing window right now anyway
You think OKC gonna win it all next year ? 😂😂 you just showed you know nothing about NBA. OKC WILL NEVER win title over Boston, Denver, Dallas, Minnesota or whole bunch of other teams even if this have all the picks in the whole NBA
Lol you lost your dang Mind ! Klay is an A compared to all these Signings and CP3 is almost an F because dude cant stay Healthy and is 137 years old Somebody call Joe Louis 😂
zero chance klay comes off the bench. but luka is a much better defender than he used to be. and our bench and big men will shut that shit down. B+ grade? horrible take.
@@EliPlaysGamesY kyrie is a pretty solid defender lol and klay ain’t the worst either to say they’re the WORST is crazy and uneducated as fuck lol it’s also the best offensive 3 in the league
Orlando spend 66 mln for 31 year old nice shooter and good defender Why? Simmons from Portland ja better choice good shooter spacer and better on the ball magic needs someone like simmons no another defender
This was a waste of a video. Every move so far except from 1 or 2 were good moves helping their team move in the right direction of being contenders. It was just a bunch of yapping with analysis that was hit or miss. I already knew when you called the PG or Clay move anything else but A+ you have no idea what you were talking about. Clay is an amazing 3rd option on any team. People criticize his defense but thats all based on effort. People talk about Lebron's defense every single day damn near but he played amazing defense in the Denver series so what are really talking about. People criticized the Kyrie trade but look at what he did the playoffs.....people was just yapping. You take the championship contender Sixers and add another star who not only adds defense but shows up when it matters......how is that not an A+ trade? They didn't give anything in return either so they just upgraded. In the rest of the trades, the Celtics showed that having multiple assets then using them right can lead to a ring. In their case, they did it in a dominate fashion the ENTIRE playoffs. Guess what? The whole is league is trying to catch up so keeping talent and bringing in more pieces to help accumulate assets is the goal of most teams. If they do that and team gets better overall, how can any of those trades be anything other than an "A." The new CBA is changing how trades and roster construction is done so these teams making all this progress is great in itself. It was like you just woke up and said well the trades aint hitting like previous years so lets grade the trades so far. Alot of these teams are better after their trade but I need to find something to criticize and over exaggerate. OH! Clay is worse than previous years so let me slight him even though I know that he can singlehandedly take over a playoff series. Also! the PG trade wasn't that great even though the Sixers just got better without giving anything. OKC? Yea they didn't just get a young, athletic, and impactful big who showed he could show up when it mattered. Not only that, he fits in with the age of the team aswell. Wait....let me ignore the fact that OKC could have won this year without any trades if they simply had more experience. It makes perfect sense to slight the Isiah signing aswell like it wasn't huge. The point is given what the Celtics showed this year you can't grade any trades or signings. Its either it was good or bad for the team as a whole. The rest is just talking for the video. 2024 for most teams is just asset accumulation while some are going for win now pieces.
