Now after watching this. I seriously think Konami is just lazzy now and is only doing bullshit, they can make more of this class of games...but their bad decisions and the kids (ejem...sorry..."expert reviewers") Dont let the sagas come with a nice return...

The attention to detail in this intro is absolutely phenomenal. It wasn't until the second time I watched this that I noticed all these labels on the floor, like "STAY CLEAR!!"
And. Is canon the use of physical ammo in the standart shot of Vic Viper? I always thought was a plasma type shot (by the infinite ammo), before replace with the laser.
@rickonami Sounds like you have a Gradius 2 itch you're scratching. Seems like with your talent you don't even need to make a remake. You could probably innovate and create a shooter done in the "Spirit" of Gradius 2. I made up a whole game with a team of Programmers and I did most of the Pre-rendered art ( the tough stuff). However the team lagged behind me and couldn't get the basic engine right because they tried to go too complex. Ofter simple is better. So much art wasted

Konami might still have some hope left. Maybe some of them might see this, and think "even after the earthquake, we still have a job to do, and that's making great shooting games!" and make a re-release of this and several other series. Wish that Treasure would team up with them, too. Why won't video game makers make games that are both nice to look at, and enjoyable to the fullest, these days? I mean, Gunstar Heroes (Treasure - Sega Genesis) and Contra (before the PS2 days), for instance....
Surely there must be a few programs you could use. Game Maker comes to mind, but I'm not too proficient in it myself. And as far as shooters go, you might have to look up some AI tutorials in order to make the enemies more aggressive, among other things. Just a few cents.

Cool, though I don't get it why many intros show you the stuff that's completely irrelevant to the game. If this was Gladius Astromechanics, the loading scenes would be much more relevant. Gladius itself is more about blowing up spacecrafts and dodging lasers.
This video kicks ass. I would love to see a HD remake of all the classic Gradius games that Konami has released under the name "Gradius". Right now I'm waiting for Otomedius Excellent to come out to fill my need of Gradius with a touch of anime girls XD

@rickonami I understand. Gradius IV was kinda bland. I agree Gradius V is awesome! Gradius IV was the only remaining one I could think of with an intro needing some HD love... 😍 Wait, how about Gradius 2 (MSX)'s intro? 😃
Intro is very cool, but I think, it's need to few remodeling cockpit window, for more of air-dynamic, and I would like to insert my soundtrack, if this is not a hymn of Gradius. P.S.: I bad speak English ((
I second that! The PCE version was like a revamped version of the arcade original with all the extra features. I don't know why the PS and the SS versions had all the cool extra bits stripped off.

@rickonami Yeah I figured so. I have done some intro's but they are kids work compared to this :D One cannot imagine how much u have to spend time on these unless haven't tried doing some.

If Konami ever releases a 2.5D remake of Gradius II, they should use this as the intro! I hope the remake will include all the extra features which were on the PCE version.
As someone who enjoys Gradius, I believe this is what Top Gun strives to be... without all the Cold War, strange Volleyball segments and Tom Cruise. But more of the Alien destruction and action! There were Aliens in Top Gun... right?

Nice intro. I mostly played Life Force NES and Parodius GB of the Gradius/Nemesis series, a little Gradius 1 as well but I know next to nothing about Gradius 2.

@rickonami Yeah, traditional is good, but maybe a set of subtitles wouldn't have been a bad idea, I guess. But you did your best, under the circumstances. :)
@conduclight For some of the other games, I suppose that they'd just give you an idea of what the player is capable (or not) of doing. And then, of course, there's Gradius. The Vic Viper's been through a lot of games, and is pretty much a legend, but only one game mentioned its combat specs. To some of us Gradius lovers, it makes us happy, and is a mark of respect, of sorts. Also, if you've played Zone Of The Enders: The Second Runner, nothing beats experimenting with the weapons, IMHO. ^_~
