I heard this song two nights ago for the first time. Carefully listened to the words a few times tonight. What a beautiful song of Aussie culture. Makes me feel I've belonged here all my life. Graeme you bute. My new favourite song.
Graeme Connors, well we've lost our mate Slim, and to me your our next poet who can turn your poetry into song,I mean true blue Aussie poetry,I saw you in concert many years ago at Twin Towns on the gold coay and mate I was one of the best nights of my life, thanks you mate, god bless you
Haven't heard this in years. This beautiful song won a golden guitar in the 'heritage' category I think years ago. I lived in Townsville and Mackay during Graeme's golden years and saw him live many times. What's fun is that this came up tonight on my RU-vid mix of Paul Simon songs. When I was younger I thought Graeme was trying to be Australia's John Denver, until I grew up and realised he was more like our Paul Simon. And today RU-vid agreed with me.🤣
I didn't marry a dingo but he taught me country life and saved me once I was caught in a swollen creek under a motorbike he came back and helped and abandoned the cattle we were getting in . My hero.
First heard this at Chinchilla concert around 1993. Grareme was looking for one last song to include on his next album. The standing ovation he got after he played this song gave him his last song for that albulm. Have tried to ser him every year since.
