Hello Chris, Great video, thanks. You adjusted the CV to stop the juddering at slow speed, does that close up the pulse width and give it more voltage ? would a stay alive do the same thing or is that a different issue? Cheers

I have not really thought to much about the mechanism - just followed the guidance given in the manual to deal with a particular issue with this model - I tried each of the 6 motor sets in CV50 and found CV50=4 to be best then some finesse was found by trying different values for the minimum PWM in CV113 until I found one that worked - In general we do not have to do this for the majority of motors, and the little Farish can motors are acceptable on factory settings - removing the slow speed judder is just a polishing exercise. A stay alive does a different job and provides power storage he model would benefit from this- however it is a question of space, connections and cost to fit one Cheers Chris

Can you set a CV to give the 08 a momentum effect as if it has a large flywheel like it''s 4mm scale brother?

CV3 and CV4 set up the acceleration and deceleration delays respectively - the higher the values used the more you will give a model inertia - just be aware that the loco must also stop on short tracks - experiment to get values that suit your operation style and size of layout. Cheers Chris

Nice video. So does CV 30 apply to all NMRA standards decoders? In alll my years of installing decoders in H0 I’ve not come across it. Also it was interesting regarding CVs 50 and 115. Presumably that is for Lenz silver decoders?

CV30 is something Lenz have used - it is not a Mandated CV but some other manufacturers have error read-out CVs. With the DCC standard there are three levels of CVs - Those that all manufacturers must use (eg CV1,CV8 CV29) Those that are optional (eg. CV3,4,5,6) and those that can be freely allocated by the manufacturer - this allows DCC decoders all to work together whilst allowing each manufacturer to install competitive features In this case Lenz motor control is in CV50 with fine tuning in other CVs - In the case of the Farish 08 this is just tinkering it runs OK, but the tuning in CV50 and CV113 improves matters. Cheers Chris

Hi I have just got into n gauge and have successfully managed to fit a lenz silver mini+ into my 08 after following your excellent video. Would it be possible for you to do a tutorial on setting up the coupling control as mentioned at paragraph 5.11 in the manual. I have tried but can't get my head round it. Thank you Steve

Electronic couplers are an awkward subject. It is one of those devices that Roco and Piko have perfected HO (I haven't seen much success in N), but still takes a lot of testing as a personal install - I am still covering the basics in this film - perhaps one for the future

Converting this re-tooled 08 is a breeze, there's even enough room for speaker and a sound decoder... Not so with the original Poole built 08's.. you have to shoehorn a 6 pin decoder in that, and isolate the chassis as that is one side of the motor contacts ! - but its doable

I believe the 2022 version has been re-tooled to give room for sound. earlier versions may need more substantial modification to make room for a speaker and decoder. Cheers Chris
