You should consider having a chronic pain patient on your show. the things that they have gone through to get the medication that help them it’s heartbreaking. The message needs to get out there.

I had a NDE after a car wreck at 18. I'm not afraid of death. At 39, I'm afraid of dying before doing the things I'm fairly certain I was sent back to accomplish.

Ive watched so many NDE videos and i know 3 people who have also had a NDE and its amazing the consistency of the information recieved.

I’ve had an NDE and since then understand I am not the person I see in the mirror. That person is just an aspect, a physical expression. But the real me is not physical. It changed everything for me.

I’ve spent a decade photographing the supernatural, angels, other spirits and such. It was and is, an unexpected gift that I was given and I’m grateful for it. Near Death Experiences happen to millions of people every year. Depending on what research it’s 1- 10 to 1- 15 have these experiences. That in itself is pretty incredible.

They are very lucky they dont have severe pain but that can change. I suffer from a genetic nerve degenerative disease and without without opiates I would have checked out long ago. Joe says he enjoys life and that's good but severe ongoing pain will take all that away.

If there is such a thing as being able to choose to come back as a bodhisattva.... then what terrifies me is to come back as a person living in a war torn country. A martyr of some sort. I don't understand how anyone can think that there's nothing after this physical life. There is so much proof! Dr. Raymond Moody has done decades of research on near death experiences, for one. I love people that have never experienced life long chronic severe pain talking about opiates. Also, how they never mention the hell someone has to go through and the amount of money you have to spend to finally get something that might work.

I dont fear death...I fear dying. Im older and have had a few nde's that showed me a wonderful afterlife , but the process of dying can suck. Pain and anxiety of dying is horrible. Once through that, im not scared. Nervous, yes.

It’s very disturbing that you think only terminal cancer patients shoukd be allowed opioids / opiates. Some of us have chronic, never ending pain. such as from failed back surgeries and other nerve related pain that nothing else works for. There are thousands of suicides caused be ceasing of or refusal to prescribe these meds. We may not be terminal but sometimes we wish we were. I’m sure most deaths by o.d., are street related, people looking to drown out their brain by getting high. People in serious chronic physical pain just want some relief. I managed to have a fairly decent life for years with opiate pain control. Then a new doctor took over. I went through the worst hell over and over. Now I’m allowed Tylenol 3s that sometimes take the edge off but mostly I’m ready to throw in the towel . I’m in my 70s and wouldn’t mind spending my last few years in relative comfort. Law makers be damned! They have no clue what they’re doing. And most physicians are brainwashed or just too afraid to stand up for what is right.

We don't come back here. We don't reincarnate. You get one shot at this life and it is what it is, there are no re-dos. That doesn't mean there's nothing after death. I personally believe our true nature it eternal, with no beginning and no end, but the idea of just being reborn as another human seems ridiculous to me.

People have understandably mistaken lifes relationship to death. Life and death are not opposites. The opposite of death is birth, and life is just what happens in the meantime.

he says we're here on a special place to learn grow and develop. but what about the babies who are born and die within an hour? or the people who are born completely paralyzed with no function and no real brain function or understanding of anything. it's a pretty hideous place with babies currently getting blown up by bombs. i'm sure the parents of these kids would disagree that it's a special place. it's a terrible place. a great place if you delude yourself and are privileged enough to have some sort of normal life.

So my belief of the afterlife is this: Death is a human construct, We are all the same instance of life seperated by what we call "death" We will experience eachothers lives, and the lives of every living thing to ever have lived. We will experience every horror, every joy, every sadness, every agony, and every beautiful moment, for eternity. Thats what i truly believe. Ive also been thinking based on other things ive come across, that perhaps the universe is an egg. OUR egg. And "god" or a "higher power" watches us, and waits...waits for us to experience every life imaginable, and mature so that we become a "god" or a "higher power" ourselves. To make a whole new universe and do the same. But thats a little far fetched haha.

Imagine callimg yourself an expert on surfing, or on the Amazon Jungle, or on NDEs, or on death, but you've never surfed, never adventured throughout the Amazon, never experiemced a NDE or OBE, and never accomplished one iota of anamnesia (full journey remeberimg). Today's pure science can be wonderful. But much of corporate-driven, political-driven science is toxic waste.

What can we learn from earth though? Because the stuff you learn on earth is only useful on earth. We were incarnate into flesh and solid reality but that's not what we are so in many ways it's not our natural state or environment. What is the point of experiencing something artificial? It's doesn't make sense when they say the only point of life here to is to overcome and evolve out of this physical plane. I think this is not a school...its like entertainment for our real selves. Like how we watch TV and get lost watching drama played out, this is just an experience to entertain ourselves but instead of watching, it's a full immersion into the experience.

Maybe these people who have had NDE's are experiencing short term consciousness. Maybe our consciousness lasts for a few hours. Nobody has been dead for days and came back... Think of watching a fireworks display, after it explodes, there's a trail of smoke that drifts off and eventually disappears. Maybe our consciousness lasts before it fades away.

We're not here to learn anything. Ego is an illusion. You can't get anything right or wrong. You don't think thoughts or make decisions. This is not an experience. You ARE the experience.

Life after death? If so, will it be a good experience? I'd like to believe that both are true, but just because that's what I'd like it may not be the case. If you consider the transgressions of many infamous people throughout history, did they have a good experience after death? You wouldn't think so. It could be that we are part of a system that guarantees certain things, like billions of galaxies each made of billions of stars and even more planets, but it's likely that few of them produce life. Perhaps the same is true about the intelligent life forms that have evolved in this system. Maybe not all of them live on after death. Some may not be viable candidates for that path, just as not all the planets are suitable for life.

I must comment that your previous guest was Ronnie Coleman. 13 spine surgeries and he takes heavy duty pain killers. At least according to his very own documentary. So scoffing at pain management as if it is only for certain pain isn’t accurate. I wouldn’t deny Mr Coleman relief from his suffering. Most people who do suffer actually entertain suicide as the relief. In fact most cancer patients end up being euthanized to end their suffering. So is that assisted suicide or murder?

The Hardest Problem of Consciousness We often hear of the hard problem of consciousness. Why is there qualia or experience of anything in the first place? I would submit there is an even harder and more important question - why do I seem to be a specific individual experiencing a specific subset of qualia? This is the most important question that must be asked and answered but rarely is. As a matter of fact there seems to be a huge blind spot when it comes to this in discussions of consciousness. If material reductionism is to be relevant to the big questions, then it has to explain not how brains generate consciousness but how the specific brain in my head could create the specific consciousness I seem to be looking out of the eyeballs of this specific body. Why do I PERSONNALLY EXIST as an individual in the first place? Out of the infinite matter in the universe how is it that only the three pounds in my head could create me? What is different about that three pounds for this to occur? Consider that billions of bodies showed up before this one. Billions showed up after this one. None of them seem to have created my existence. This body could be running around without it being ME just like these billions of others All bodies are made of the same elements. All brains have the same basic anatomy. If all brains are basically the same and are creating consciousness then there should only be ONE consciousness looking out of every set of eyeballs simultaneously. A hopelessly superimposed existence from every possible viewpoint at once. I’m sure that materialists would claim that no, no, brains are so complex they are all different. Ok, so what would have to be recreated in another brain for me to exist looking out of another set of eyeballs? When the ontologies purporting to explain consciousness are examined critically it becomes obvious that all materialist/reductionist strategies fail completely in attempting to address the individuality question. What is the principled explanation for why: A brain over here would generate my specific consciousness and a brain over there would generate your specific consciousness? Integrated information over here would generate my specific consciousness and integrated information over there would generate your specific consciousness? Global workspace over here would generate my specific consciousness and global workspace there would generate your specific consciousness? Orchestrated quantum collapse in microtubules over here would generate my specific consciousness and orchestrated quantum collapse in microtubules over there would generate your specific consciousness? Materialism already fails since it cannot find a transfer function between microvolt level sparks in the brain and any experience or qualia. In addition it’s not possible for materialistic ontologies to address this question of individuality since no measurement can be made that could verify my consciousness vs your consciousness and therefore no materialist ontology could make any coherent statements about the subject. How could pure awareness even be individualized? Physicalists demand measurements but with consciousness there is nothing to measure. There is electricity in the brain they say. We’ll measure that. Is electricity consciousness? If so then once I again I should exist everywhere at once since electricity cannot be individualized. My blender uses electricity. Is it a genius? Unless materialists can answer these questions their premise collapses like the house of cards it is. As far as other ways of thought are concerned only Dualism and Idealism can account for our sense of individuality. Dualism assumes we are all individual spirits/souls matched up to a body through some undefined process. Idealism, which states that consciousness is primary also answers the question of why I seem to exist as an individual. One consciousness exists looking out of every set of eyeballs and in the process the illusion of individuality is created in each case. In actual reality I am you, you are me, we are one.

My daughter is a survivor of stage three bladder cancer. She had it as a baby. As a result of radiation treatment to the area, her organs didn't grow to their proper size. As a now 28-year-old, she takes mild opioids to control what would otherwise be constant pain. She is not in any way “abusing” opioids. Just as you, Rogan, have a lot of ignorance on subjects such as vaccines, homelessness etc, you also have obvious ignorance on the *vital necessity* of opioids when people have conditions that cause them chronic pain!

The belief that there's no afterlife is wishful thinking. If there's nothing after life there would be no suffering or joy. You wouldn't even know it. You wouldn't suffer or be rewarded 🤔
