That is the ULTIMATE example of trust and mateship right there. Steve saw that Wes was in trouble. He never hesitated....he was right there, on the croc, protecting his friend. And then Wes, in turn, was right there on the fence....I would guess in EXCRUCIATING pain from having just been attacked by Graham, but he was not leaving without Steve. I'm sure if Steve would have been attacked, he would have gone back in, injuries or no, to protect Steve. And now, all these years later, it was nice to see Steve's son, Robert, working with the SAME crocodile and Wes, right there, by his side, ready to protect him too should he need it.
Crocodile Hunter got him out of there and Wes lived to train Rob. Graham is really dangerous he bit Crocodile Hunter and he bit Wes I seen the scorecard 12 times the Irwins captured Graham or did a feed without getting bit by Graham and two times Graham attacked them and Crocodile Hunter and Wes got bit. You don't mess with crocs they are dangerous. The Irwins are well trained to take on Graham should he ever attack them again.
CeltycSparrow Tbh, I'm not sure if Wes even felt the pain from the wounds. Mostly due to the adrenaline of the moment and his determination to help Steve if he needed it
Steve didn't know it but in saving Wes, he would live on to play such an important role in Steve's kids lives, his best mate was destined to help raise both his kids, what a job he's done passing on all that knowledge and experience to the next generation. But I bet there are quiet moments, such as in Harry Potter when Sirius Black says to Harry, it's almost cruel I had so much time with your father, and you so little. Robert was so small when Steve passed. Thank goodness for these videos, I bet Robert & Bindi have watched them so many times ♥
Yeah he was so wrong about that. They may have enjoyed the excitement of a little slip in safety, but actually losing Steve? Nah uh. Nobody's happy about that. Everyone wants him back. he's so loved and missed, even 12 years on.
Wes mentors steves son now, wes is a boss true friend to be wounded and still be ready to back Steve up...,that's why steve calls him the back up .... best back up in the world
Absolutely incredible how people can abuse their puppies for going potty in the house yet Steve and his team would never lay a hand on an animal that can, will, and has attempted to kill them. Been 9 years too long with him gone.
abusing a puppy for that or anything is unexcusable, difference between abusing and punishment, You don't allow dogs or anything else to do whatever they want or you end up disgusting and with a disgusting home.
Chris Cosby True. There are ways to discipline and teach your puppies/dogs without being abusive but I know a couple of people who think any type of stern attitude toward a dog is mean. That’s ridiculous. And those people are the very ones who have dogs who run all over them and destroyed their homes as well. Gross!
now he is teaching Rob how to fight Graham. Graham got the Irwins twice he bit Steve once on the hand and he bit Wes on the butt and leg. Rob needs to be careful or he will be added to Graham's scorecard.
How boring would that have been, wouldn't be his style at all! He had to go out in a surreal way, with his khakis on, which he did :) I can't imagine him an old man slowing up, plus he was in a lot of pain in the end with physical injuries, esp his neck and shoulders. To know he's no longer in pain, and went out in the craziest way possible, well you gotta admit he had style :)
He used the people " loving it when he almost dies" to his advantage to do all he could for wildlife and the world is a better place for wildlife because of it. Great guy
when i saw this episode for the first time ans saw the damage Graham did to Wes my first reaction was ouch that had to really hurt. I'm glad Wes is OK. i don't blame Graham he was only doing what crocs do naturally. it's instinct.
5:55 Karl: Zoo Director Wes Mannion is recovering in the hospital. His boss Steve Irwin a.k.a. The Crocodile Hunter has become his hero. Steve: I got to save my best mates life. And Wes is tough rugged made of the right stuff and he made a full recovery really quick. Me: What a hero!!! Good on you, Steve.
What I've found fascinating is that after this incident every time Wes is around Graham he seems to be trying really hard to get him, he must remember biting him and is pissed off that he got away, I've even seem Graham completely ignoring the food and just going for Wes, what a naughty boy
This man loved animals more than anything but still loved humans more to beat the hell out of the crocodile with a stick who was trying to kill his best friend. When it comes down to it he didn't have a doubt what he had to do it was instinct and they were right not to blame the crocodile he was just doing what they do
iv seen so many movie and documentary titles that are exaggerations or misconstrue events. it just goes to show the intensity of these peoples lives that they have no need to do anything of the sort for a good story . helluv a guy Steve!
"The crowd love it when I nearly die" Basically his career in a nutshell. He always put himself in stupid situations knowing it was a good way to engage the crowd- even if he really knew what he was doing, he calculated all his risks. Of course, the key word in that quote is "nearly".... :(
Now that there is one tricky crocodile. Even though Steve and Wes probably had a lifetime's worth of experience handling (and avoiding being eaten by) crocs between them, Graham still somehow managed to get a piece of not just one of them, but BOTH of them! What a sneaky, patient, awesome little bugger.
@@RealSameerRaza technically that would have been the British, and without them we wouldn't have ended up with this man, so, thank you, British Empire, I guess... Wait... Fucking, Brits. You made me appreciate you!
"The crowd loves it when i nearly die" Steve... you are not stupid at all, YOU ARE THE BRAVEST AND MOST NURTURING MAN THERE HAS EVER BEEN! you just want to love your wildlife. You have nothing but my respect. R.I.P.
I think the list of australia zoo's monster crocs are as follows: Graham, Agro, Acco, Casper, Murry, Monty and Charlie. Out of all of these Graham is probably the most dangerous. he doesn't have the sheer size and power of Acco, or the extreme aggresive nature like Charlie and murry. Graham is the most dangerous because's he's arguably the fastest striker of the group, and has gone maneater, he's the only one to injure the staff like that.
When crocs attack Australians they say well that's his job good for him and they reward him. The rest of the world when animals attack, we put them down to sleep. Best regards from Mogadishu.
if wes was there he would've jumped onto the stingray and died along side him... they're in it or their out together. .... now i believe steve wanting to have the best show for us to see killed him. wanting to ensure it's perfect cost him. and that's exactly the person he is. if it aint 100% it's not worth 1c. R.I.P
when hes giving the interview he reminds me of that American bloke talking about a dog and goes crazy barking while his wife is just stood there like its normal hahaa
Love you always Steve! I miss yoooou sooooooooooooooooo very much! You were always the very coolest and bravest person in the whole world! 🌎 ❤️ ♥️ 💙 💕 💜 RIP 🙏🏻 🪦 😌 ☹️ 😔 😢
Thinking on it now, Graham was probably sitting in the water during that flood just watching. Graham: "Oh, Wes, Wes. I’ve been waiting for this day, you see Wes I’ve been scoping your ass out since 1994. So let’s get it over with and do this the hard way."
In the trenches Stevo and his best mate Wes they have each others back true friendship ! Who best to go to war with you know either way you're going home, to fight another day ! Wow best adventure yet God bless ❤
When I first watched Steve Irwin I under age 10 and saw him on the movie a wiggly safari. Then as I got older was when I watched this, croc diaries. I'm the same age around Bindi so I kinda grew up with her. As Steve was describing the adrenaline that night it was no surprise to me that by the time Wes was out despite his injury he was on the fence ready to dive back in while Steve managed to keep his life at the same time while saving his mate. That's what makes them so good to watch. Putting their lives on the line to save endangered apex predators from going extinct forever from the planet. To show no anger towards the massive beast after that incident shows that they respect the animals they work with and if you don't respect animals especially apex predators then you're gonna have more than a nasty wound on your hand and your life on the line. It's an old saying that people rarely obey. Animals are just like people. Respect them and they'll respect you. All because of a flood they had to risk it and nearly paid the price for it but on the end it was a happy ending for both men and beast. Wes got his leg, both men got their lives and Graham got his territory even if it was unexpectedly expanded by flood waters. People might think their crazy but sometimes it pays to be crazy because this is what they do this is who they are and they wouldn't change it any other way. This proves crocodiles are way more viscous than alligators.
Graham has bite both of them now. When he was a bit smaller and in another incloser he bite Steve on the hand pulled him in the water and that guy jumped into save Steve
