I was there to witness this...truly amazing knock in a game that meant we won a series in the West Indies for the first time in over 30 years... Amazing player and will be sadly missed. RIP
This innings should be mentioned in todays news more than it has - his best ever and so typical. Having to dig England out of a hole and playing with the tailenders, scoring a century with 19 the next highest score
My favourite innings of his ❤ my dad and I were huddled around the radio as he reached his hundred as my sister insisted she wanted to watch tv. Such sad news that he’s gone - thank you for the great memories Thorpey.
I can't think of the words to do Graham Thorpe the justice he deserves as an England batsman. I think this innings showed every great characteristic he had. He had the ability to score tough runs, dogged, yet easy on the eye. Karachi has been mentioned a number of times, but I'm also sure he scored a ton in Sri Lanka and followed it up with something like 40 out of 70 odd as England lost 5 wickets chasing it down. Excellent against pace, class against some of the great spinners too. He was the all round batting package. I'll watch a few of his highlights over the coming days. Rest in peace Graham Thorpe. A cricketing hero to many.
RIP Graham and put this innings in to context it was 33 for 3 when he came in when he got a hundred it was 197, 100 runs out of 164 it if was Waugh Lara Kallis Ponting we would have called it genius this man was a genius ❤❤❤
Typical Graham Thorpe innings Very good against pace bowling and brilliant player of spin Excelled in a crisis situation but was very good when team needed quick runs
