Oh, I didn't expect Грай here, thank you sooo much for recommending them and for your reaction to this beautiful song. :) Грай is great representation of our slavic folk/pagan metal! Mara is more than spirit, she's goddess of winter, raw nature and death, she has different names in slavic langyages, for example in my language, polish, it's Marzanna. In winter she is above the ground, in forests etc and she rules winter and death, but when spring should come we were making dolls/puppets (I'm not sure which word fits better here) in her image, which we burned (fire kills, but also frees soul from body) to end winter, and then we drowned them (water is source of life, it resurrects) so that she could be reborn as goddess of spring, hunting and fertility (I know only polish name of this goddess of spring and it's Dziewanna). Mara's soul went to underground, where she took care of souls together with god Veles (god of underworld, death, protector of souls and domestic cattle, he also gave people small gifts in December), and goddess of spring was created from her body. Slavic mithology is very interesting. :) If you like it, I want to recommend ukrainian folk/pagan metal band Свентояр (Sventoyar) and their song "Крашен Вечiр" ("Krashen Vechir" which means "Beautiful evening"), it's kinda interesting, because instrumentally it's cover of Limp Bizkit's song "Boiler", but lyrics are from ukrainian folk song, they also have such amazing folk string instrument in band which is called dulcimer, but in slavic languages it's more like cymbals (I know, in english it's different instrument). There is official music video for that song. I hope you can react to it, even if this recommendation is only from commemt. ;)

Wow, tamashii, what an interesting and cool posting! I'm very happy you enjoyed my recommendation, and thanks very much for the information about Polish culture. I have always been interested in in cultural anthropology, so your posting was especially interesting to me, thanks! You may be interested to know that the area of the city I am from in America, Chicago, has the most people of Polish descent of any city in the world except for Warsaw, and Polish is the third most commonly spoken language here after English and Spanish. :) Large immigration here started in 1830!

@@mikeg.4211 Aww, thank you, I'm glad you like my comment. :) But info I wrote are more about old slavic culture and beliefs, except polish name of Mara and goddess of spring. :D I can also say that Veles in polish is Weles, english "V" have similar sound to polish "W" or russian "В", in many slavic languages with latin alphabet it's "V", but sound is very similar. ;) I remember from first year of primary school that we made such doll of Marzanna and drowned it, unfortunately now it's only something for kids, most people in Poland don't know anything about our slavic roots, even if catholicism here is mostly just old slavic beliefs in new christian name... Many things are like before chrustianity, they took slavic beliefs and added to it new names and meanings... Yeah, I've heard that many polish people are in Chicago. :) I don't know why there, but... :D I think I have some family there as well, but I don't know them, I just heard that some people from my family living in Chicago. Btw... how name of this city should be pronounce correct? I mean "ch", it's more "ch" sound like in "chicken" or "sh" like in "show"? I've heard both versions... And sorry for my english, I know I'm not good at it...

@@tamashii6670 Many places in America have kept their original native names, like "Chicago", which is a native word meaning "field of wild onions". It is pronounced "sheh-KA-go". Cheers for Poland! :)

What a great thoughtful and intelligent reaction! This kind of intelligence and thoughtfulness is what sets you apart as premiere reactors! You got it exactly right, and even picked up on a lot of nuances. I loved it!

Great reaction to this wonderful folkmetal band. The growler in this song is the bassist. In other songs of Grai he has greater part of growling. And sometimes the lead singer also growls too. She does an amazing job as singer and entertainer in concerts.

Oh, the snow-white one, oh, the winter came unsummoned. Oh, the dire one, oh, with silver snow she covered My pour soul and heart, oh, the winter froze my spirit, Turned my tears to ice, and took them to chain the river. Oh, the snow-white one came and brought the thoughts of sandess. I can see no sun, and the full moon rules the heavens. Wandering the night, I can hear the death is sneaking. And a storm of white's keep on dancing, wildly shrieking. Oh, the dire one came and filled my core with sorrow, Oh the freezing one, oh, the winter came unsummoned. Winter brought me down, took it all and left me nothing, Oh, the snow-white one. Snowy spruces are swaying on a freezing wind, and It's the dire one that keeps howling loud in me, and With an icy shards she keeps knocking on my window, Oh the dire one. Oh, I can not sleep, soul is hunted down by winter. She took him from me, took my sweetest friend from me, and18 Baned his soul with cold, with her evil charms and sorrow. Oh, the dire one led him to the arms of Mara.

Идите учить славянскую мифологию... башкой махать в ритм может каждый, а вот взять и перевести на свой язык, проникнуться и понять глубинность текста... это вам не сникерсы жевать и колой запивать..
