I'm a Alabama State University Alumnus and proud of the class act performance by Grambling State University. The SWAC conference was well-represented by both the band and the football team that gave Arizona something to remember. Sooner than later there will be a major upset between a HBCU football team and a Division 1-A school - it's just a matter of time!
Dude what planet are u on ? GSU can't out drill Southern . Same routine every week . And dancing while the focus should be on the ladies dancing is horrible . However I did give them the edge last yr at the BOTB based on song selection . Typical but good performance nonetheless . I'm sure it's entertaining to those who aren't used to seeing HBCU bands
Lionel Reese it was entertaining in front of black folks and SU has lost their spunk on the field sadly. Go watch 2013-2015 bayou gsu has out drilled SU MAMY TIMES since Haymer took over sadly
Lionel Reese FOR HISTORY LESSON GSU DOESN'T HAVE A DANCELINE. ODC IS FEATURED NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS. AND WHETE IS THE RULE WHERE YOU NEED TO STAND STILL FOR DANCERS?? GSU STYLE HAS BEEN THE SAME FOR 50+ YEARS NO ONE SAYES ANYTHING ABPUT SU SAME ASS SHIT YEARLY. DR GREGGS HAD THEM POLISHED NOT GHETTO
Drequynn Rod , let's be honest. I am speaking as a completely objective bandhead who has been in the game for about three decades. GSU had ok sound in this show, compared to what they have had in recent years but their excessive dancing was definite overkill and sloppy, at best. Bands that dance to that extent are making a clear attempt to appeal to the crowd's most superficial sensabilities, instead of by wowing the crowd with more precision marching and musical excellence. It's almost like a comedian who overuses curse words to invoke a reaction, without having the cerebral substance to go with it. I root for all HBCU bands, especially when they are showcasing our children in front of massive white audiences, who may have never had the experience of an HBCU before, in any setting, musical or otherwise. It is exactly, for that reason, that we need to be cognizant of doing shows that exhibit so much more than our ability to dance and 'get down'. I'm sorry to say it, but this was a 'dance show' and overall, not impressive. There was so much more opportunity for excellence. Lastly, I must say, that SU absolutely DESTROYS GSU and anyone who says otherwise, is either not musically inclined, had no true understanding of marching band, has never seen SU, or all of the above. I wish GSU all the best and I hope to see them achieving much more in musical and marching excellence and a lot less in 'shaking it' for half of their show.
A. Day a rock side to side is dancing SU haven't been drilling lately watch 2017 both gsu an su had a excellent season btw this clip is old af a like two seasons I'm proud of gsu and the rest su shows aren't the same at all nor are gsu's but both bands did nice af at bayou 2017.
Well, poor thing can you even hear? Oops, I forgot you said Southern would run rings around Grambling. The horns blowing on a cruise ship are in better tune than Southerns horns.
