Thank you for sharing, I am in SE Texas and purchased a Grammmo Parkrett Leo `Sabre’ semi-alba in a small 3 to 4in pot had for 3 1/2 weeks. It’s on my patio In filtered shade, this is great info on repotting when needed and not too small of a pot👍🪴

Perfect timing, then! If you go back and watch my repotting video from April of this year, look at how much my plant grew in one season! If your plant has any speciosum in its ancestry…😳. I’ve since learned these can grow as large as a small yard! Not sure at what point I couldn’t bring mine in for winter.

@@TheOrchidHut not ready for repot, but great info, will have to check not sure about Speciosum cross.

thanks , would hesitate before over potting . Your pot has lasted a year and done well . Changing the pot every year is not so bad . I just have , speciosum bulbs , minimal roots , need to water more . Also got some seedlings , doing well so far .

Good luck with your orchids! I did repot this one, but did not over pot. It’s still going well with 2 new growths on the way this spring.

Your hand in front of the plant 🤣that puts it in perspective. And green flowers I think I want one of these as well (robust rootsystem is an understatement)

Thanks for watching, Ynse! I will need to do a bit more research on the 3 species that were crossed to make my Gramm. I’m almost dreading to see how large they get in the wild!

Good and interesting info. I can work with that in future although mine will get a bit bigger in future. Hope to find here more compacter species in the following years but getting this one was a stroke of luck through an import from Thailand. Grammathophylum are just not grown or sold in Central Europe.

Best wishes for finding something more compact. Mine appeared to be more compact when I purchased it, now I realize it was just a ‘baby’ instead! Plant imports are very tricky, I imagine. I’m off to watch your video now.

Once it flowers do I cut the stem or leave it for a rebloom?

How would you water this? From the top or the bottom?
@TheOrchidHut

I water from the top - trying not to splash between the leaf joints. My environment is VERY humid…. Thanks for watching!

Would I take care of a mini version of this in same way🎂⁉️

What is the tag name on your plant? Believe it or not, this one is considered a miniature as well! It was much smaller when I purchased it. I’m assuming care would be similar, but you may have to research your particular orchid.

@@TheOrchidHut disscription HR24728 Gram.scriptum (‘short spike mutant’s sib). I have been trying to get more info about it. It’s only about 10” now with one spike two tiny blooms on it. But now I only see regular size ones,and I’m very disappointed. I can’t keep such large plants in my apt. The seller knew I was looking for mini cattelya and she showed me this with the compact cattelya.
