The majority of priests don't have music culture and the instruments are considered bad aestetics effect on architectural value of cathetdral (same behaviour into other churches).
It's a crap...... Charles Marie Widor who was organist at St. Sulpice in Paris and and exquisite composer, he managed to collect quite a large sum to be invested for a new organ for St. Peter's Basilica.........you know what happened? the bloody priests used the money to renovate the marble pavement....
Greatest Basilica in the world, and no have great Pipe organ? Why? many basilicas-cathedrals in the world have greater, - beter pipe organ! Basilica in Lichen Poland have great pipe organ with 6 manuals, main console, and in this basilica there are 5 pipe organs with Beautiful voices !
That's right, I totally agree! It is a large organ, but for the beastly size of St. Peter's Basilica it is small. Aristide Cavaillè-Coll presented an abysmally monumental project, but the Vatican rejected it; it is said that Aristide was very disappointed with the answers, with frustration.
