No wonder they call it the real driving simulator, it took me 10 sec to figure out which was the game and the real deal..I applaud you PD for your accomplishments
What I like about this video is it highlights an area were it's unmatched.If you look at the parts were the game is behind the real footage and you look at the elevation changes,then glance at the game and pick out the same point it's mind blowing. So many other game/sims just look way off because their missing the detail.And I think it helps make GT look as if your travelling down a road.And I don't get that from other racers.
Wow while watching this video sometimes i look away and look back and mistake which image is real life, at times the one up top looks fake lol. They have done a phenomenal job on getting the since of speed accurate, and the level design is almost point accurate. Its also nice to see that the simulation car and real car handle almost exactly the same.
u can tell the makers of GT5 spent a lot of time making the maps..they are basically in sync for the entire time...the real driver does a bit better tho :P
playing this game in 3d and never go back to 2d flat picture screen. 3d just gives me immersive sense of speed and helps me when to brake the car on the corner.
Fair point, but my original point was saying you can get a much better game that gets much closer to the real feeling of how a car moves upon the surface with other games rather than GT and Forza.
It is pretty impressive they got those signs and writings from the surface right, so maybe someday there will be even more advanced Nurburgring to play at, I'm only glad that PD can actually make tracks right unlike the another racing game developer. If PS3 would have larger amount of memory those details could have been added, who knows.
Polyphony stepped it up a bit with the modeling of the Nurburgring in GT5, but it still looks a little too clean. The real ring is grittier, the paint on rumble strips is all worn to hell (it is in some parts of GT5 mind you) and the grass in some areas is pretty chewed up. Next installment they should think about adding in those tiny details to further blur the line between real and GT5.
Yeah, iRacing does simulator some car parts more better, but there's a pretty good reason for that, GT5 has more than 800 cars to use. (I dont count duplicates as cars because the base model is the same) While the iRacing, no matter how well did they convert their cars into the game, the virtual car wont feel like the real one, ever.
it's easy to beat stigs times in any game especially forza because you have a restart button allowing for unlimited amount of retrys and being able to take a car past a limit without consequences. gt5 has some of the closest lap times to real life. forza's nurburg people can't even break 7 minutes with zondas.
Generally speaking, they do look awesome.. Some of the most realistic and lifelike graphics of this generation!!!.. But I'm guessing these 'experts' are talking about the few flaws, namely the sometimes rough looking shadows, and rough outline around objects in front of smoke..
You're right, in FM you cant EVER break the 8 minute barrier with a stock GTR, even the real life one made it within 7.27 if I remember it right. (besides FM has the Vspec GTR which should be even faster than regular GTR, still no under 8 minute) In a nutshell, FM's Nurburgring is actually a Fantasy track, not a real one.
Ach, that makes perfect sense, that is why he chose other people to "discuss it about" because I have personal experience from real life driving like 21 years. And I could not agree about FM4 being more "sim" like or even looking better. Hell, I got both consoles wired to my 50" HD television, takes only 1 press from a remote control to see the difference in each, and so far I can tell, FM4 looks more false, if and when comparing to real life.
Wow mate! Christ it was just a joke! Also just to add, i do get out into the real world, i do an hours cycle a day and participate in sports such as clay/skeet shooting, fishing and i do a lot of camping.
Meaning, how many of those Racing Cars found in PC "sims" you've driven in real life ? And take a guess how many cars I've driven in real life that can be found in GT5 ? 77 cars in total, and everyone has been working like it should, IF you choose the right tires that is.
Holy..... If only FM fans could even watch how close GT5 looks to real life recording instead of bashing GT5 about everything, never seen similar videos made with the Forza game, ever. Even I do play both, I could never say Forza being better "simulator" or a driving game, because it simple is not. Good driving there, wish I could be that good.
funny you should say that. i play gtr2 on pc, and have tried rfactor, and i also play gt5 on playstation. none of my family can get into gtr2, telling me it feels nothing like driving a car, yet for them gt5 is like breathing. they all drive their own cars....
Rally racing... ...and night, and wheather (though not on all tracks). Good thing Forza Horizon will have night. I expect they bring that to Forza 5, it still is a good game which I like playing.
physics are very simmilar but i racing simulates brake fade clutch malfunctions etc things gt5 dosent have but in terms of physics physics there very close =D
@Specialforumla14 the nurburgring is very bumpy as I have driven it a few times in real life with stock soft suspension. So it will be much worse in a Zonda which I was surprised he launched it ibto the Karussell
I feel sorry for the FM4 hardcore fans who believes that FM4 is a "sim" at all, my 7 year old son is currently playing that Simulator without any driving aids with a LMP race car and guess what, he is actually winning races, so, how many 7 year old person you know has ever won a race in real life ? A simulator my ass.
NFS is an awful game though, it was fun when I was about 12 haha. Forza gives you just as much realism as GT5 with more features. You can even engine swap in Forza and make your car look how you want. In real life they do crazy designs for track cars, so in Forza you get to have your own unique cars. Both are great games expecially when using a steering wheel, I just wish GT5 had more customization. Though GT5 has rally racing which I love.
I'm confused. Bought GT5 when it came out, and was rather disappointed after years of delays. I don't remember any in-car views where you could see the driver. Have they updated with patches or something? Haven't played it for a long time. In fact PS3 is in daughter's room for Netflix. I'm a Forza 4 guy, but would play GT5 if they improved it.
It's pretty clear you havent tried GT5 with the G27 Logitech wheel ? You know, I was a paying customer of iRacing until last year and so far I can tell, iRacing and GT5 has only differences in actual gameplay, where iRacing can host more players at time on track, while GT5 can have only 16 players at time. And that is the biggest difference I've encountered so far, the actual physics are pretty much the same, besides, GT5 lets you use cars you could buy in everyday life, iRacing doesnt.
im not saying that sounds better than real life, im just saying that GT5 engine sound is more realistic than Forza if you compare them to real life. there is no game that surpass reality.
