The Ford Sierra RS500 is a legendary performance car in both street and motorsport trims, and GT7 marks it finally making its debut in the Gran Turismo series. But as with any legendary car, the risk of it not living up to our hopes and hypes is drastically increased. So let's take it out to the freshly debuted Road Atlanta to put this whale tail legend to the test!

@@Official_MikeyT the AE86 tuned version based off the Initial D Anime has the group A Toyota Engine in it so there is 1 engine from Group A

The Cossie is the single best addition to GT7 ever IMO! I've driven an XR4x4 2.9 V6 in anger before but never the Cossie... so many fond memories of that Sierra so I was so excited that one finally came to GT :) Awesome review HSG. I also love that the model can be stripped down in GTAuto so you could essentially detune this to a normal 3 door hatch if desired too and it would damn near look the part on the outside :D

I've got 2 of these Sierras, one stock and one tuned, and tested them out on Road Atlanta. The tuned version flew around the track like a rampant rocket, even though I somehow forgot to buy customizable suspension for it 😅. It felt so good and the factory suspension could handle the 400hp and race brakes surprisingly well. It's such a pleasure to kick into the corners. I also noticed that one of the visual modifications, the rear bumper diffuser attachment, is terribly glitchy. If you drive in 3rd person with the diffuser equipped the diffuser is actually missing and can only be seen when the camera is viewing the car from a specific angle aiming towards the front left quarter of the car. Any other angle and the diffuser is missing entirely

Like someone else said in the comments, the glitch at 3:04 is the ai rubberband level dropping. I noticed that a few months ago when I was doing a custom high speed ring race. (I turned boost off but rubberband is still strong). I watched the replay and noticed the AI's speed changed quickly from 305km/h to 285km/h on the str8 before T1. Also, when they're in rubberband mode, they sometimes make FL laps nearly impossible to beat before they slow down.

I noticed the same at Le Mans. I was running the GT40 MK1 against the A220, and a bunch of other 60s and 70s cars when I noticed the Alpine went from putting down a crazy lap to suddenly going 15sec/lap slower. I watched the replay and it suddenly dropped from around 310km/h to 257km/h mid Mulsanne.

Wilk on the new Gr1 endurance race at Road Atlanta can somehow do high 1'06 laps on soft tires with his Peugeot VGT Gr1 even though the race is limited at 950pp. I can't beat his lap times on my tuned McLaren VGT also on softs no matter what.

I created a livery based off the Peter Jackson ATCC Sierras but without the stickers so just using the blue base paint with red and yellow stripes round the bottom

Disappointed you can't put 550+ horsepower and make it like a Group A Touring Car with a lightswitch turbocharger but love how the race exhaust comes out the right side of the car

With special parts it might be able to get close to that but we will need to wait and see if it has any sense you can only get such parts on the tickets

@@MiguelPerez-eh3on Titanium rods and pistons is highlighted in the settings sheet as is the carbon prop. No ultra high rpm turbo. No idea of knowing if there are special cams or bore available.

I am so glad that you mentioned "tail-happy", because it is on the edge of undriveable 🙈, I was so disappointed, been looking forward to rip around bathurst, but no. Maybe I just cant find out how to tune the thing?🤔, maybe I just suck at driving?🤔🤪 (probably) So, I got it, collection is complete, again, wasted a lot of credits on parts, even got a few cool liveries, but is forever doomed to the "museum" 😆

@@furi7619 yep, maybe, but we may have different preferences 😆, I try hard to tune cars to behave like ex. Mercedes CLK with full downforce, and slightly understeered, and the diff. Set so it can not spin the wheels out of corners. I like my cars running like they where on a rail, if the tail comes out in the first corner, and it can not be solved in the tuning section, then they goes on the shelf 😁, so, all 3 cars in the update are not funny at all. I like the looks of JDM cars though, and maybe in another life (when I get my self a manual shifter, and hydro brake), I will take up drifting, until then, I only drive the cars that "behave" 😁🙈

Yup. Was surprised at its inherent instability. The pro tuners will no doubt fix that for os numpties :-) God, rapid in a straight line. I was seeing well over 300 kmh at Le Mans.

@@supercededman I hope it can be solved, but Im not sure, some cars are pure deathtraps (to me anyway), but for what ever reason, some people seems to like "struggle"? 🤔, I just want things (that goes for all in life) to be smart/easy 😁, but the car has, as you say, a good topspeed, I hope some "miraclemaker" solves it, so you dont have to "tip toe" around corners 🙃

Love this car but for me the tuning is very limited. Road cars have been tuned to 800+ hp and even the race cars were 600-700hp.

Something you touched on that has always bothered me about gran turismo in recent years is the disconnect PD has with what the max hp the vehicles should be making fully tuned especially as they try to be more on an international level. It's no secret that 1500+ hp gtr's ,supra and vipers are all over. Granted that's pretty unusable on for straight wheel to wheel circuit racing but it's very common for drag, hillclimb, and time attack.

When fully maxed, this sierra doesn’t feel like it needs anymore power as it’s so light. It struggles to put the power down as it is

Mk4 Supras at over 1000hp can be used for track racing, I've seen many of those on track days and the like(which is more or less what GT7 races with street cars really are) and they're viable. It's really stupid at we can only do 800hp at max with that engine in GT7.

Found a glitch when tuning the rs500. With 310bhp, triple clutch, racing hard tires, and several other mods i don't remember atm, it's only 456pp. Won 550pp races with ease.

This was my favorite road racer in Project Cars 2 and one of the few easier cars to drive I that game. Here, I tend to have difficulty driving fast but in sure with time I'll Improve. A fun little car but a but underwhelming compared to my memory of it on pc2.

I'm not sure I'm deep enough into gt7 to decide whether whether or not this is just an extension of GTSport or a new look at an old classic. There are some things that itritate that don't need to be there. Hi-speed Ring is REALLY different from when I used to run an FTO up against the guard rails rather than use the brakes.

This car is almost undrivable for me. Snap oversteer all day and the front end just randomly wont steer when the suspension compresses

I like it because when I was about 5 my dad had a focus rs mk1 and we loved going to Ford rs meets and when we were on the motorway I remember seeing whale tail wings left right and centre and it was amazing
