Looky here, the HiAce itself. The HiMedic was added last year, and now the standard HiAce has arrived? This is real Unexpected for a van to come. It was very common from the country I’m living. Been seeing them in traffic most of the time. They utilized it as UV Express commuter transport vans, and a lower-spec Ambulance (which is clearly not the same as HiMedic). What’s different about the HiAce from my country is that it gets a 2.5 2KD-FTV and a 3.0 1KD-FTV in which both of them are Diesel engines, and a Manual Transmission. Yes, a bunch of HiAces from my country often gets a Diesel and a Manual, and the Automatic gearbox is only available for the higher trim model named the “Grandia”. In this case, GT7’s HiAce is the Japanese-spec DX with the 2.0 1TR-FE and a 5-speed Automatic transmission. HiMedic gets the 2.7 2TR-FE. So as a Filipino like myself, I accept this. It’s crazy seeing common cars from my region coming to a racing game, so this is good for me. Funny thing is, players can actually turn it into a Drift van. So if y’all haven’t known, thinking that they’re “unfair additions”, Gran Turismo had a group of Common “traffic” cars ever since their previous titles like GT2 and GT4 as far as I remembered. That’s why it continued to happen with new groups of “common traffic cars” in GT7.
So This van, I have many thoughts about it. A Joke in Japanese Racing games like Wangan Midnight and Tokyo Xtreme Racer where This van is faster than all high performance JDM cars, A Joke and a Running gag dubbed as "Kidnapper's Van" in Anime and Manga, a Campervan, and what else lol. One thing for sure this van and "Truck-Kun" in Japanese Animes and Mangas surely , just surely a surreal comedy for them lol.
In May I rented a car in Japan and around the Nagoya & Osaka area there are about five billion Toyota Probox on the road. Hoping it gets added to GT7 in a future update!
The Hiace with the LS7 V8 swap is insane. It doesn’t have the highest top speed due to its aerodynamic drag coefficient, but the acceleration is crazy with full weight reduction. There is quite a bit of oversteer even on racing tires. Probably due to the fact that the back end is very light and there is not a lot of weight pushing down on the back wheels to aid traction. I would recommend trying rear ballast to help with the handling.
