The Mercedes 190E Evolution II is a justified legend, both in real life and in the GT series, and for good reason. An excellent touring car with one of the rarest road homologations ever built. And now that it has made its return in GT7 Spec 2.0 - and for the first time ever in full HD glory with a detailed interior, it begs the question of if it was worth the wait?
Well, let's jump out to Catalunya in my lightly tuned 300 bhp version to find out, and review the 190E 2.5-16 Evo II!

You need VR to really appreciate these cars. It's like taking a vacation from normal life for an hour.

The 190E in my opinion is one of the most beautiful German cars ever made. I'm glad it made its return because it's such a good car to drive. But it will become undrivable if you tune it up without giving it the proper setup. That happened to me but I eventually found a Nurburgring setup and now it's a monster and almost replicates the performance of the touring car version.

Absolutly especially the 90's. The updated Alfa, the C Class Merc and the beautiful Opel Calibra V6.

Only saw one of these on the road back in the day. Did drive a 190e years ago, but it was an ordinary 2.0 automatic model. Still a nice comfortable cruising car with good reliability.

It’s great to have the 190e back. Fingers crossed we get a few more proper saloons in future updates. I’m looking forward to the special projects version, I’m struggling a little with the racing suspension once it’s turbo’d.

legend. my hope for gt7 would be updating it to GT2 levels of road cars (includingt todays era!) and just expanding the event sections for including every class thats out there

Finally this car is in Gran Turismo back. I own a Mercedes 190E in real life too. I made customized it like my Mercedes 190 too in brilliant silver.

Speaking of the 190E 2.5-16 it looked absolutely fabulous out on track; Klaus Ludwig won the DTM overall points title in 1992 I think it was and more importantly F1 pundit Martin Brundle once quoted that this very car has the best handling chassis of every four door saloon in the market from years gone by.

I think another reason it's so iconic is because it was so out of character for Mercedes-Benz at the time; their bread-and-butter was big, soft, conservatively-styled tanks, and here was this hard-edged boy-racer-looking thing with a rev happy engine (developed by an outside firm...and an English one at that!). I keep hoping that GT or Forza (or both) will someday add the Audi V8 Quattro to their rosters so we can enjoy all three of the early '90s DTM amigos, but as more time passes the more I worry my hoping is in vain...

I love this legend, did several 90's DTM liveries, like the Berlin 2000 liveries of Ludwig, Lohr and Rosberg. Also the special 2 tone metallic liveries from Schneider and Asch. Saw several of these cars drive on the Ring in the longdistance racing, and during the Scuderia Hanseat drivers training.

It's one of the cars that have some intrinsic defects when you Tune them up! First problem is the Turbolag which makes the engine feel a bit unresponsive throughout the lower RPM Ranges! (Can luckily be somewhat fixed with some gearbox adjustments!) Second is the handling: I can't really describe in words how It feels to drive around corners, but at certain ride heights it seems like the car is just steering by itself and generally try's everything to throw you forcefully of the track! Almost like halfway through the corner you suddenly feel some sand inside the driveshaft... it just feels weird!

This car is unfortunately undrivable. It also seems be bugged. It simply doesn’t steer or rather stop steering. I move the wheel, but the ingame wheel doesn’t respond. I hope for a tune that makes it drivable.
