Thanks for the suggestion! I've just released a video on Spa, and then I'd like to do Monza, but then I'm open to suggestions. :) So I'll check that out!
Since these buildings around the circuit were used by the crew for recording and production of the tv show, I did a little research to see which episodes they filmed with a Testarossa. To my surprise, I didn't find any, there is an old episode, before the Clarkson era, where they make a versus between Testarossa and Countach and another more recent one with the same cars, but already in The Grand Tour.
I did the same thing as, like you, I thought it might be the Top Gear car park, which has featured in a few episodes. But yeah, no Testarossa appearances. :(
If you plate check that Iveco van at 10:00, S56 RLA, that’s actually a real reg that was on that Iveco van, although it wasn’t taxed or MOT’d after 2009.
I'm impressed you're this impressed at real life textures used in games, having played around with freecam in games like rfactor with mods it's super common. Most of the time crowd is real people, they use photos for textures, and google earth imagery as base to build on. Very common for so called BTB/RTB tracks (made using bobs track builder/race track builder) that has built in google earth import. You also very often find low poly scenery car that are textured using pictures of someone's car as well. Still, very interesting exploration of the scenery, I love doing that personally. Very curious about other real life tracks in GT5, I feel like these techniques notably the google earth base layer will be used a lot. Sadly it's not in GT5, but I bet GT6's Bathurst would be a super interesting free cam journey just judging by the massive satellite plane you can see in game. The odd building at 10:56 may be some commentary booth, perhaps for producers to watch over when filming? Now for the car guesses: 2:35 Ford Capri Mk1 for the white car 3:45 Impreza Mk1, you can see the red part of the taillight warps around the grey part on the edge so it's not a prelude 5:17 Citroen Xantia for the red sedan, and very nice guess on the van its a C15 indeed 9:46 Volkswagen Bora?
Ok so I tried to do this without listening or reading any guesses to prevent any bias, the comment itself is written afterwards. 2:45 Dark grey car, seems like an Opel Kadett (I think it was the first gen Vauxhall Astra in UK. The white muscle car resembles a Chevelle or an Oldsmobile 422 but the small air intake is throwing me off as I can only remember the Mustang and the Camaro having them. The red one, you got it. 3:45 I think it is closer to a Subaru Impreza 22B, altho' it's uncommon to see them in anything other than blue. 5:15 No, that is not a Megane, that is the iconic profile of a Citroën Xantia. In front of it is the undestroyable Citroën C15 6:05 It is in fact a Suzuki, but not a Vitara, it more accurately resembles the 2nd gen Jimny. 6:20 Spot on!! 6:45 Probably the same Xantia as in the other picture, same car, same color. 7:00 Left to right, just guesses, I can't be sure of most of them: 1.: An old Toyota Yaris or a Megane 3 with blacked out tail lights 2.: Volkswagen LT or Renault Traffic T1000 3.: You're right, it has to be a Mini 4.: This one is a mess 5.: My only guess is a Volkswagen Polo 3 6.: It most definitelly is a 1st gen Porsche Cayenne, second option a Hyundai Tucson 7:25 Yep, a BMW, that was easy. 7:55 That one yes, this is the Renault Megane, but as you noticed, the hatchback version. The Peugeot 106 is also right. I do also agree on the Ford Fiesta. 8:20 I think it might be a Polaris Sportsman or something along those lines, it also looks like it has a trailer attached. 8:25 Your guess is as good as mine, I'd say a 1999 Ford Mondeo. 9:40 Neither of them, that's a Volkswagen Bora. I love doing this, I'll be glad to give my guesses in the next one!!!!
Although it has nostalgic value to many petrol heads, in reality its a rubbish track no? I was excited to get it in games but when I did I never really enjoyed driving it all that much, best in the capable use of motoring journalists
Top Gear was a peak show back in early 2010's ngl. It's still around today but with different presenters, back then the show was honestly one of the best I've ever watched
Very interesting, thanks for showing us a whole new world in the GT games.. I would say the cars in the bitmaps are "incidentals" because they didn't have time to remove them from the "purposed" bitmap used to 3D model the building facia
that cfs would be Cranleigh freight services. i went to a college in Cranleigh and got the opportunity to sit in the passenger seat of one of those lorries and go around the outside of the top gear track and i also walked around the outside of the top gear track too. 😊 another time i got to drive some go karts on the over run too. good times they were and they were testing the mclaren MP4-12C on that day too. maybe they are tested there. the boeing jet was in casino royale apparently. apparently i was told that the runway was too short for the jet to take off but the engines are fake on it. not sure though 🙂
I gotta say I'd absolutely love to see more out of bounds footage from other racing games! Especially some Need For Speed games and maybe some classic ones
Here’s your list for the non said/question ones; 3:44 it’s a silver 22b just to be 5:53 the one in the green cover may just be a golf gti and behind maybe a charger 7:02 | left to right | black golf r maybe a ford van, mini, Peugeot, wrx wagon, maybe a Mercedes
Silver car is a GC8 impreza and the maroon car at the garage is a citroen xantia. Black car was a vw Bora. Pretty fascinating to see out the bounds of the top gear test track. Shame it wasn't brought into the later games. I'm sure NBA sports cars is the garage that helped work on the cars whilst at the test track. Look up the top gear lancia stratos replica video
the red car is a xantia, the silver car is a gc8 wrx, because of the wing size. the white car is a capri with a landau top, and the white jeep thing is a jimny, not a vitara the golf lookin thing looks more like a lupo, and the passat one also seems like a lupo. the black vw one is neither a golf or a polo, but a jetta
It’s not that or a Jimney because the rag top looks different on them. It has a spare wheel that’s a Vitara wheel too. Almost certain it’s a 2-door Vitara.
I'd love to do some GT6 stuff but sadly I don't have a debug camera for it. However, you can take the normal camera past the finish line at Goodwood and there are some rabbits hiding at the end, which I covered in one of my Easter egg videos. :)
03:46 - Also possible that it’s a 90s Impreza WRX. -But more likely right with your first guess.- The more I look at it the more I think it’s a WRX with an aftermarket Syms wing. 05:16 - That’s a Citroen Xantia. 09:41 - That’s a VW Bora. 12:30 - That’s an ATC (Air Traffic Control) tower.
That silver car @ 3:46 is def a GC8 WRX, and I think they’re the same car on both photos at different angles. The wing on the side profile definitely screams STi GC8
Hmm, I believe GT5 has a feature whereby it resets your car if you do glitch out of bounds. I remember glitching out of SSRX to take a look at the infield track better, but sadly I just got reset.
@02:48 White Ford Capri MK1 & Dark Blue Volkswagen Golf MK3 @03:26 Red Fiat Punto @03:53 Silver Subaru Impreza WRX 1st Generation @04:09 Red Hyundai Coupe RD @05:17 Red Citroen Xantia @06:04 White Suzuki Jimny 2nd Generation @06:49 Red Peugeot 405 @09:41 Black Volkswagen Bora
Have you ever considered checking out the QA build for GT5? Noticed a lot of interesting small changes that have yet to be documented on RU-vid nor TCRF including an Alternative Top Gear track with scenary objects for the beta Top Gear Special Event.
@2:53 I feel like that is a Capri. They were europe/UK cars that we had in the US a little bit, but mostly seen or heard about in the UK. Would have been a classic by the time this was taken, like the Testarossa
6:03 that Suzuki Samurai looks like to be the same one Richard Hammond used for the Cheap Police Car Challenge, which aired around the same time. Playing Gran Turismo 5 at Top Gears peak in 2010 felt amazing! Definitely made great memories
Damn, they don't need to render the cars as part of the environment, just make the buildings has collision physics and areas driveable, adds some cars from the game instead or no cars at all and you'll have a photographic sandbox area. This thing is too dedicated for stuffs that are not expected to be come upon.
Amazing vid. I always held both Gran Turismo 5 and Top Gear on a pedestal for being the best automotive enjoyment I could find. Your deep dive into the out-of-bounds on this nostalgic map was awesome
Another awesome video, love the concept of these videos! I had a little game with myself and guessed the cars in the video 3:13 would be a mk1 Ford Capri and a mk3 golf possibly 3:32 as you said in the video could be a Ford ka or smart car but I also think it resembles a mk1 daewoo matiz 3:43 looks to be a Subaru Impreza 5:14 is a Citroen Xantia or maybe even a Renault 19 and a Citroen C15 van 5:50 looks to be either an old Mercedes 560 sec or a bmw E23 6:07 looks to be a Suzuki SJ or vitara (as mentioned in the video) 6:25 is definitely a Peugeot 106 6:53 looks like an old Suzuki swift, possibly a k10 micra or as said on the video a Citroen Xantia 7:00 Peugeot 107, Ford Transit, Mini, Chevy blazer or Ford explorer?, VW Golf and a Porsche Cayenne 7:27 Bmw 1 Series (as mentioned in the video) 7:59 Renault megane and a 106 (as mentioned in the video) 8:11 Ford Fiesta (as mentioned in the video) 8:30 possibly an EC9 civic 8:49 definitely a very fast boat man 9:43 VW Bora
2:50 the white car looks like a mk3 Capri, the black one looks a bit like an old Audi, either a 1st gen A4 or it's predecessor, the 80. 3:58 is 100% a Subaru Impreza, most likely a Turbo 2000, but also possibly an imported WRX/WRX STI. 5:19 the red car outside SGG looks like a Peugeot 406 7:10 from left to right, mk5 Golf, not sure, possibly a Vauxhall Combo, a proper Mini, too unclear, mk4 Golf, Porsche Cayenne. 9:42 VW Bora. You were close enough with mk4 Golf though, the Bora was the saloon version. The Bora's headlights are squared off. 12:30 is the air traffic control tower. I'm pretty sure they've filmed from up there before, I want to say when they had to Zonda R but I'm not certain.
What Gran Turismo is it? 5? 6? or will it be the PS4 Sport? It's great to find these secrets in the GT. 2:49 The car next to the Testarossa is a Ford Capri Ghia (Mk1) apparently from the 70s. 5:50 is a Mercedes Benz 450/500 SLC from the late 70's early 80's. Since I was little I acquired the ability to recognize any car just by seeing part of the bodywork. The rest of the cars you have correctly identified. Obviously, seeing that some are a bit blurry, it is difficult to guess. I congratulate you that you made a fantastic video. 💪👏👏
03:12- Ferrari Testarossa, Ford Capri and Vauxhall Corsa B. 05:33- Citroen Xantia and Citroen C15. 06:04- Mercedes and Suzuki Samurai. 06:42- Renault Midlum (inside of garage) and Renault 19 (outside of Garage). 07:00- Volkswagen Golf V, Mercedes Van, Mini Cooper, Vauxhall Corsa C, VW Golf IV and Porsche Cayenne. 08:20- Quad Bike with a Hot Wheels logo in it. 08:28- Possibly a VW Passat Variant. 09:45- Volkswagen Bora. 11:24- Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren on poster.
The Dark Gray car at 2:48 does remind me of a Facelifted MK3 Ford Fiesta. But it could really be any small hatchback from around the mid 90s to early 00s
