On August 27, 2016 in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial, Grand Canyon Railway ran a special steam double-header on our daily round-trip train to Grand Canyon National Park. This train featured both No. 29 and No. 4960 in the first double-header since 2012.

The locomotive is basically a train. It is powered by the steam engine witch was an industrial revolution invention in the first one. In the second one the steam locomotives and steam boat where invented. They helped raw goods and humans be transported further and faster.

on the boiler it has a smile on it so I think 29 is really happy to be back on the rails under steam since 2008. that marks 8 years out of service!

Bruce Tharpe #18 has not run since 2011 after being sold to the Rio Grand Senic Railway in Alimosa CO.

Atchule 18 is running on the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad and still runs to this day .

in my opinion, this train is beautiful in every way. the flags cheapen the strong style of the train and its beauty. american trains are their own standard bearers. you dont need flags to prove it.

You guys need to start running steam power more often! I know its to lower greenhouse gases, and conserve fuel, but only once a month between April and October?! That's bullshit! I don't know what you may think, but I know for a fact that steam locomotives are not just machines; they're living, breathing, creatures! Can't you at least do steam runs year-round?
