When we were in the Grand Canyon in Sept 2010 we took a heli flight with Papillon Helicopters. The flight started at the South Rim Airport and took us to the North Rim and back. This was a truly amazing experience. I highly recommend doing a heli flight when visiting the Grand Canyon. Yes the view points along the South Rim are nice, but a birds eye view overlooking the entire canyon is much better.
The Heli flight itself was very smooth. The pilot did explain the sights and it was an overall great experience. Be sure to book in advance.
