I'm from Australia and I have been fortunate enough to have driven through this area on 3 separate occasions. The first time was in 1976 and the last about 10 years ago. It is truly a spectacular landscape and an experience I shall never forget. I do hope to do it again in the future. Stay safe everyone.
Thank you for the tour, I am disabled at 67 years old live in kentucky, and, cannot go to these places myself. At least you took me with you! Thanks again. Doc Mike USN
During my 38 year OTR truck driving career I practically begged to take every load out west...I didn't care...Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah...you name it! There's just something about the desert that draws me to it. You would think with 880 miles from east to west, and, the 950 miles north to south in my home state of Texas that'd be enough. Nope! I've been retired from the trucking industry since February of 2015, and, hopefully, soon, I will return to the road once again! Only, this time I'll be living full time in my Class B Roadtrek 190! No bosses, no schedules, no weight cops, no scales, no log books....just me, my music, the open road, and, the smell of the desert wind in my face! I can't wait to see the things I couldn't before when I was behind the windshield of an 18 wheeler! The road is calling me, and, the road is where I will live until the end my life! Thank you for this wonderful video; it brought back a lot of memories! (7:56pmCST Friday 5/4/2018 Houston, Texas)
I retired in 2016 after 44 yrs of driving a truck. I took a 2 wk vacation with my wife right through this country he is showing, I enjoyed it. I hope to make the drive again. I'm from Carlinville, IL
Monument Valley is such a beautiful, lonely, desolate place! I'd had it as my wallpaper on my desktop for so many years, it was surreal to drive through and see the monuments in real life!
there really isn't any place like it ! finally got there a couple of years ago and loved it ! i hope i can spend the rest of my vacations exploring the desert southwest !
I spent 6 months in NYC and then had an idea to go to the monument valley, after watching 'Forest Gump' again, and this video helped me to make my mind on this trip, and it was the best road trip I have ever had, it worth a visit absolutely!!!!!!!
Very nice thanks for showing ! i rode that back in '94 on a Mountainbike from Las Vegas to trough Monument valley, painted dessert, Grand canyon and all those other wonderfull places in the States.
Monument valley is a must see God’s gift too us all. It is breathtaking and magnificent. First time I saw it I could not believe a place with just butte’s and Mesa ‘ can be so beautiful. Put it in your bucket list, you will never regret it.
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen, and the music is perfect for this trip, thanku very much, this was great, take care and drive safe guys..
I have driven from Las Vegas to Phoenix through Zion Canyon via Monument valley. We rented a car on 9 AM and returned on next day's 9 AM. The girl of Hertz was astonished. That journey has been the greatest one in my life.
It's nice that somebody took the time to film the entire road. I played some great music and dreamed I was there. Thank you, you made me travel... from Paris, France to the U.S
Delphine Heger I live in Arizona, where Monument Valley is located, and in 38 yrs, have still not been to this place. I'm thinking of a drive up with my sons, for Easter. Also, look up Havasu Falls on RU-vid, another treasure of Arizona. I've been there four times and, I'm telling you, it's a life changing experience. Arizona is amazing.
What an amazing place Takes me back to my days in India watching western movies with my Dad God bless America the beautiful the land that gave me Elvis Ricky Nelson Johnny Cash and all my favourite western stars Thank you from Melbourne Australia
We drove this same road on our way to Monument Valley last month. What an awesome trip! The icing on the cake was that we ended up getting what amounted to a "personal tour" of Monument Valley with Yvonne; we were the only ones on that tour!!
Hi Sheila we did this road trip in 2009 its like lot of things in life be careful not to leave it too late i promise you wont regret it My wife has Ms and i new if we did not get on and do it soon we would not be going at all as her walking was getting worse and i was right as her mobility is now so bad she could not do it now. the whole of that part of the USA is amazing and is a must see. we also did route 66 in 2012 again for the same reason. that's a 3 week adventure starting in Chicago and ending in Santa Monica pier California 3000 miles all the way. you don't need a company to organize these kind of trips book your flights with the airline book your car with a car hire company work out the route with as many sites of interest as possible then book all of your hotels with a free breakfast on that route allowing about 200 miles a day . 200 miles in a day is easy peasy on their roads. use google earth for the route and emails for every thing else
i (from the uk) have made three visits to various places on this trip( las vegas, zion, bryce, monument valley, grand canyon north and south rims etc), and next spring will be visiting them again plus many more including capitol reef, moab, arches, canyonlands, sedona, prescott valley etc....american roads i find your videos inspiring, and have helped me search for and visit some beautiful awe inspiring places in the south west....so thank you friend, i often feel like i am in the car with you
Thank you very much. That road was a highlight of our 2012 US road trip. Going down 163, I was looking left, looking right, looking in the rear view mirror until we saw that "iconic" shot from Forest Gump (and many other movies). One of my favorite shots from the trip.. We also had the same view from our hotel room....Going to download to keep the memory alive.... ....Jim from Australia...
Nostalgic! I am fortunate enough to be there last year and explored the entire Canyon across all three states Arizona, Utah and Nevada. This was one of the most memorable drive in my lifetime.
I can't believe people are passing you when you are driving this fast! Seriously though you can just imagine John Wayne riding by the Mitten Buttes in the 1939 classic movie 'Stagecoach.'
Amazing place. Was there last year. Feel like going back again! I was also in valley of the gods. Amazing place This summer I'm going to arches, Canyonlands, and dead horse point in Utah. Can't wait.
We visited W-America last year. We've seen beautiful things, a dreamtrip, drove many many Miles but we never got tired of the landscape. It changes a lot. So thank you for this video, it all comes back...
Went to the art store today and dropped a load of money for art supplies. Then I came back here for the inspiration to create what my soul cries for. Thanks once again for this burst of energy. Peace
Well done ! A great place to finish !! - the Southwest is just a fabulous part of your country and can't wait to go back another time. Really enjoyed your whole tour - good job :-) !
Thank you for that great Video. Everytime I come to the US I try to at least drive some part of the Grand Circle and LOVE it every single time! Especially liked the part when you passed Mexican Hat. Stayed there in 1999 for a night and missed the landmark three times since it is way smaller than I had guessed from the pictures I had seen berfore.
By watching this video, you did. I suggest you check out the Google Earth 360-degree street views along US163. I don't believe the local Native Americans allowed Google Earth to take images along their 17-mile road but there are a lot of 360-degree panoramas taken throughout the reservation of incredible high-definition views.
Wow, once again amazing job. I truly believe you are one of, if not the, most talented road videographer(s) out there. Your content is always excellently produced, with a very distinct niche to boot!
I've been up to Mexican Hat from Kayenta on my motorcycle, spectacular riding area. The Southwest is a great area for riding on 2 wheels! Songs were great choices too!
My wife and I have traveled to Monument Valley twice in the last 40 years. Such a beautiful place, to put it mildly. Like the Grand Canyon, everyone needs to see it at least once.
I'm from Scotland/Hong Kong, my fiancé and I recently had a road trip from Phoenix - Sedona - Grand Canyon - Antelope Canyon - Zion - Vegas. Too bad we didn't have enough to time for Monument Valley. The US South West really is one of the most astonishingly beautiful and captivating places on Earth. We'll be back for this for sure!
I've been through this area about a dozen times in the past 10 years. I put on my favorite song from driving through 'the 4 corners' area, slowed down the video to .25 and enjoyed the route. The part where you skipped ahead 3 miles, you missed the Mexican Hat and also the turnoff for Natural Bridges National Monument. Before you get to Mexican Hat, there's also a turn off/ off road trail for 'Valley of the Gods' which is just as awesome as Monument Valley with 1/1000th the number of visitors.
Hello, I've been watching your videos. Thank you so much for sharing. I just love national parks and out west. Anyway, can I ask? Do you need some kind of permit to take video like yours. Like you're taking video of your road trip to national park and upload in here? I've been searching I didn't get any clear answer. We love road trip and would like to share more video of our trip. Thank you in advance for your reply.
you all prolly dont care but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost the login password. I would love any help you can give me.
@Aaron Maximus thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I personally traveled this road 8/11/2017 on my way to and back from Colorado, I seen it before but I wanted to see it again one Last time before I died because there's no other place like it in the world. It truly is a record and testament of time.
EXCELLENT !love this scenery and that Dwight Yoakam song. This is on my bucket list! 1/16/2023 What drove me nere in the first place I first seen the monument in the movie , Wind Talkers, I beleive with Nicolas Cage , So when I found this video with the song, I have too go there, Don't know why , but I must, Here it is years later and I have not gone yet, I've got a foot problem now but when it heals, Here I come 🤞
I take a trip down to California every other year from Canada. Specifically from Toronto, Ontario. I'll never get sick of the drive. Although I make a pit stop on the way there in Vegas.
My wife and I drove to Monument Valley from the Grand Canyon, it was absolutely breathtaking, like every John Wayne movie you ever saw. It was in September, I don't think we saw another car for hours. I got stopped by a cop for speeding, he must have been hiding behind a cactus. He said " where you folks going" I said "Monument Valley" he said "why, there ain't nuthin out there". He let me off with a warning because we were British, God's truth.
Haha! The cop who stopped me looked like a native American, he probably takes his country for granted and is unaware of its savage beauty. It certainly is a stunning place and will live in our memories forever. On the downside, the temperature was up in the 90's out there and my hire car started to overheat, we only just made it back to Kayenta. It was in '97 I had no mobile phone and very little water. It brought home to me that I was stupid and lucky and people who travel out there should'nt go unprepared like I did.
I'm dying, but I hope I can just bicycle around the southwest with no travel plan for a couple of months. I have done 9,000 miles of all terrain/weather/areas of U.S bike touring over the years, and the desert southwest (avoid Death Valley) is still my favorite. Bicycling through much of it is like riding through a beautiful landscape watercolor painting.
I know. It was my first time in the area, so I was a bit clueless as to where to stop. I was also on a rather tight schedule to arrive at the Grand Canyon on time to capture a sunset.
The view was great. The music is simply awesome. I will probably never get there because it is on the other side of the world for me so this episode is a real dream to look at. The blockbuster that every fan is waiting for.
Amei a carona . Lindo vídeo. É incrível a imensidão desse mundo de meu Deus. Nossa, deve ser o máximo viajar nessa estrada. Fico imaginando o ar fresco desse lugar.
Excellent looking video and an absolutely amazing ride. The scenery was breathtaking and amazing. Loved it .The music was great too. Thanx for posting this.
Amazing video!! Thank you so much. If I did not have a mortgage and other bills, I would leave my job right NOW and head down 163-South. And, the music was perfect for this video. Again, thank you from one fellow traveler to obviously another.
Loved this. Visioned John Wayne galloping on his horse in the distance. So how far in between gas stations and or should you pack extra gas? Thanks for posting. Beautiful. On my bucket list.
That day, I was actually on the way to the Grand Canyon from Moab. Along the way, I visited Monument Valley. I completely filled up at Moab, drove all the way to Grand Canyon, and still had plenty to drive around the South Rim the next day. However, if you urgently have to fill up, the closest town is Mexican Hat (shown in the video).
Have to throw in this tip..... Was there middle of last year. If you're traveling, leaving Moab to head to Kayenta (southern terminus of 163) or vice-versa, you're not doing yourself any favors if you pass up locations along the way like Valley of the Gods, Goosenecks, and Mexican Hat Rock. Especially Valley of the Gods. Very similar to Monument Valley, but without the romanticism or the glamour (and the crowds, too.) If you plan on going to Moab/Monument Valley on your next road trip, do yourself a favor, make little side trips and PLEASE VISIT THOSE LOCATIONS!
Este tema country en alusión al monument Valley es formidable. Se complementa co el paisaje. Siendo monument Valley mi lugar favorito. Maravilloso. Felicitaciones.❤🙂🐅⛰🙋♂️
I found this video really helpful. We're planning yet another trek from Australia to the USA - torn between the four corners states or the west coast from top to bottom, flying into Seattle and out of San Diego. My vote is for the Pacific North West but we can watch these videos and hopefully agree on our next itinerary.
