One of my all time favorite songs since it was first released. Vocals, guitars and, drums were ok. The bass needs to kick it up. Over all good rendition.
I was working on my computer and this was playing in the background. I went back to RU-vid to see if this was a live version of GrandFunk. Shock! Great job man!
Hey Greg, I worked for your dad a long long time ago. So so so impressive! I absolutely love what your doing and hope you keep making these!! totally blown away!
Hey, thanks so much! I really enjoy making these vids so yeah, there are more coming. I bet I worked for Pete a lot longer ago than you did ;-D This is Bob, right?
Sometimes I have nothing to say but “wow”... just “wow”.... that was phenomenal....must be so fun to have such talent...there better be no thumbs down for this one!!!
Excellent cover, man! Perfect rendition that supercedes the original with quality recording and vocals that eliminate all the deficiencies of the Grand Funk recordings. A beautiful song that is oddly, not covered very often. A favorite of mine since my older brother bought the album in 1970 (I was 7 years old). Thank you! As a side note, I was born in Flint, Michigan. Mark Farner literally lived just around the corner from our house, so my oldest brother was hanging around with him in the early 1960's.
Thanks for the kudos! That's really something that your brother hung out with Mark Farner as kids. I always assumed Farner was an extraterrestrial sent down here to make the rest of us feel bad that we couldn't sing that well. 😁
@@OverTheHillmusic Well, my brother is 7 years older than me and was always a transitory figure in my life. I don't know him that well ;-) Then there's the Flint water. Ironically, the Flint Water Department was (and still is, I believe) located less than a mile from that house. I prefer your voice.
Out-flippin' standing! You must have such fun making these songs and vids. Super great. I imagine you don't have a lot of personality conflicts in your band. You guys keep it up.
Hi Greg, You nailed it, sounded great. I got the chance to see GFR in concert in 1971 at the Hollywood Sportatorium near Fort Lauderdale Florida. They were one of the best bands then and still have some of the best songs ever. They were the loudest bands out there, my ears rang for four hours. Keep up the good work.
Showin our age there bro...hehe. Lotta talent still in that noggin and finners....rolled my share listenin to this tune! You rock it... Love your vid skills. No idea how you sync it all up but it is cool!
Hi Greg, Thank you very much for the video. I think that it is best cover of the “Closer To Home”. You are very good musician. Your guitars sound excellent. Please explain how you did construct your guitars.
U guys (or one guy) which is it? Anyway whichever, ya done real fine here. A lot going on in here. I can tell that there was a ton of work here to get it down. Best cover of this monster rock song I have ever heard in my 68 years. Mark and Mel would be way impressed with your rendition for sure. (I could care less what Donnie B. thinks of it.)
You may call this "over the hill music" but it's not only it's a GREAT song but you do an AWESOME job covering it!... my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, so I HAVE to ask you, cuz I'm interested in film as well as play guitar- are you just ONE guy, playing the bass and the guitar, or twins?..because I can't figure out how you could be playing 2 instruments in the same frame, unless you have super video effects!
Thanks! Yes this was the first music video I've created and I'm the only person in this video. The digital video editing software commonly available today makes special effects like this very simple.
@@gregoryvpencheff3091 Ive seen these types of videos before- but NOT with the SAME GUY in the SAME ROOM, next to himself, haha- Good Job! And most importantly, love the song version!
