It is such a privilege to have your work available for free on youtube. You are passing on such a wonderful skill to people who would otherwise never have the chance to learn the craft. And you do it with such pleasure and patience - it is truly remarkable. I've improved my scrollwork drawings drastically by watching all your videos, following along while drawing and dissecting your work. Thank you for what you do!!!
I am only the sharer …lol The majority of the work here is Ken Hunt’s but it is certainly my pleasure to share it as I am in AWE of it also ..Ken is my Mentor and I have learned so much from him ..Trust me it is a great pleasure to share these videos with you all …Thank you for your kind words ..
More proof YT is misaligned. I don't want to think about how much time I spent digging through all the garbage results before finding something worth subscribing to. Thank you for actually trying to make the world smarter.
I am not making carvings or jewels or anything, just drawing. I had no idea scrollwork had its entire world behind it, but I'm glad i do now. Really good video.
What a wonderful tutorial! It makes you feel like a one to one with an old friend, no wonder Ken Hunt is a Master Engraver, no one comes close. Chris B.
I appreciate that you showed how a beginner would do it. Art teachers are often so preoccupied by proving their skill that they can’t imagine what it feels like to be a learner and I don’t enjoy most art classes for that reason.
Oh man, I just spent several hours making my honey a bracelet out of silver with scrolls on it. I wish I had waited until I saw this. It would have elevated my work somewhat. Thank you!
I really enjoy your work, examples, and friendly explanations. It feels like I'm hanging out with a good friend and enjoying your good company. Thank you, good sir.
Thank you for mentioning the different disciplines and grades of workmanship early in the video. Gives a nice scale of what a beginner can expect getting into scrollwork. Excellent for a beginner like me. 😁
I have been drawing for years, I have used those knead erasers since Jr. High and learned something new from you. I have always used the knead erasers like a normal pink rubber one, except to get into tight places I's stretch it out and the rub. Rolling it to lighten is GENIUS!! I have watched to get into firearm engraving for many years and have watched probably 65% of the videos on here to learn how. I think I'm at a point I might buy some tools. Thank you for this video on drawing your filigree/scroll work.
I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home, when all a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.
@@CarverEngraver Thank you. Let me share a bit more if you're interested. A while after that happened, I was watching a preacher on RU-vid. I felt this compassion come over me by the Holy Spirit. So I prayed for him. "Father, I pray you double this man's ministry, his finances, and his marital life, in Jesus holy name, I demand and I decree. Amen." The next day he released a new video. He was standing on stage for a bit, smiling. Then he said "The Lord has just doubled his ministry. He's doubled his finances and He's doubled his marital life... My heart started pounding from shock, because he was saying my exact prayer from the night before. I wasn't even thinking about how I had prayed when he said it. Then later that week another prayer just as impossible was answered. It went on like that for months. I've had trials and tribulations, and ups and downs, but it still happens.
I just stumbled across your videos; looking for a vine design that would wrap around a 1.25 inch pole. And I have started martial arts with my fiance and I am making her a staff to use in testing for her next belt. I am curious how you would make this design on a rounded surface.
if you go to my Facebook page there is albums filled with Ken Hunts drawing and engravings where he has done engravings on the caps and curved surfaces .. my Facebook is under carver engraver or Cheryl Edstedt .. you will find what you’re looking for there
I'm very new to engraving....I work on wood mainly but have an inch think fake glass piece I'm trying. Thank you for your lesson. I like doing free hand but have been told to use a stencil...I feel that using those takes a little bit of my individuality away from the piece. I carve one piece at a time to make 3d wall art
@@holeika I totally get what you are saying about hand work … and I guess it depends on what you’re going for as far etching … using fine tipped burrs and for finer work and rubber burrs stone burrs etc…
I am going to start out laughing here as I know you are British …but what in the world are you speaking of ? If you cannot come out with your name and not hide behind a HAHA .. and contradict you about what ? Please define …
What Ken Hunt portrays here in his drawings is the best of the best .. you will not find this anywhere else .. If you are not enjoying these videos , then move on .. do not ruin for the people who want to learn the correct way …
