Sylvie is unbelievable in this piece and I am grateful to the person who shot it despite the dubious quality of the footage. This is a virtuosic pas de deux, and Sylvie does not disappoint. She has it all: grace, flexibility, balance and bravura. She is the most exciting ballerina I have ever seen!!!!

What I love more than her extensions or her technique or her feet is Guillem's supreme confidence. She owns her dancing fully. She could fall and lose her balance but she'd still be the bomb and she knows it.

This choreography is so difficult and Sylvie sets the standard . She is the best classical ballet dancer of the last 100yrs.. T the stars were allianed when she was born !!
@Fadyocean I think you're right to a certain extent, but I think Guillem's decisions can be justified for this particular ballet, because it is simply a gala piece, and there is no character or storyline to put much emotion into. I agree with you 100%. I saw a rehearsal of "Don Quixote" pas de deux recently and she had some trouble with the "style." I am glad she has gone on to explore more contemporary choreography. I don't think she is a dancer who is just satisfied with the classical repertoire. Nowadays everyone hoists their foot up to their ears. LOL.
diese version mit sylvie ist wirklich unglaublich. sie ist tatsächlich eine der größten ballerinen die es jemals gab. hat sie eigentlich auch mal den sterbenden schwan getanzt? ich freu mich jedenfalls immer wieder sie live erleben zu dürfen
A little underwhelmed by Cope. Some of those ultra-high developpes really contort the tutu ridiculously. Save them for a more appropriate costume. Sweet balances tho. LOL.
@Fadyocean quel pisse froid vous faites ! sylvie est une danseuse pas comme les autres dans tous les sens du terme, le jour où on aura compris ça, on arrêtera de de vouloir la formater et la faire rentrer dans un moule.....d'une certaine façon, elle a révolutionné les codes de la danse classique et tant mieux ! She is wonderful but the quality of the video, costumes do not give her, them much credit. There is a wonderful one, with her and Manuel Legris, 9 min. So clear, elegant, classy, with close ups.
i think it must have been difficult for her NOT to get to leg up to her ear, as people expected it from her. No matter what role she danced everyone wanted her legs all over the place. I love her extensions but I once saw her as Juliet and the legs took away the young girl she portrayed when they started reaching the high 170 something degrees... There is a time and a place for everything, I wish the audience would remember that too when they watch her. :)
It`s true, and not only the legs... the only role in which I found Silvie awfull was Juliet: no inocence at all, no first love, it was more like watching Black Swan dancing Prokovief music... Having said that I consider her unique, still there`s no one like her, she was just perfect and not only legs and balances but style and strenght... and I had the chance to see her dance lots of roles during a whole year even watching her in class and rehearsals...She will alwas be the best ballerina ever
