Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park, USA [Amazing Places 4K]

The Grand Prismatic Spring offers one of the most stunning views in the Yellowstone National Park. It is the largest pool in the park and the third in the world. It is located in the Midway Geyser Basin and its major feature is its amazing coloration, caused by bacteria, living on the edges of the mineral rich water. The pool is about 370 feet/113 m in diameter and is 121 feet/37 m deep. Several smaller springs are located in close proximity.
This video was shot from two locations: from the nearby hill at noon, and by the spring in the late afternoon.
Recorded September 2014 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100.

I've only been to Yellowstone once & that was in '17. There were some thermal specimens I didn't get to see far beyond Old Faithful as there was so many & so much walking for my old hips, lol. I did see all of the Upper & lower Norris Basin stuff. Very awesome place to visit.

I'm glad for national parks and that governments and men of the wildest heart had the forseight to preserve he natural wonders of the world. A place where humanity has gathered and said, this does not exist for some cheap exploitation. It belongs to the creation of time and it is Mother Earth that gave such mundane clay for such majesty exhulted for all, for the creatures of the feild as they forage for the day's events and the highest order that the gods have chosen to shine on. A painter can paint this, a dreamer can dream this, but it has been proven by the sights of our eye. And for that on the darkest of days I will be thankful.

Beautiful. So crazy because here in North Florida we have 4 magnitudes of springs that feed the Suwannee, Alapaha,and Withlacoochee Rivers. Even in the rivers where you can't see them there are cracks with vents. Seeps and spring fed streams. But they're a constant surface of 68 to 72 degrees with a few exceptions of warm springs in central Florida. To see this spring that looks so similar at the main vent and the seeps around it feeding other streams and river. It's beautiful and amazing. Same thing but different environment as it's scalding deadly hot 🔥 Never been here but where I live we have secret beautiful turquoise pools and you have to keep them a secret so they aren't destroyed by human recreation. Secret meaning mouth shut and don't put it on social media. So many visit these Yellowstone hot springs so I wonder what treasures they have nearby that aren't seen online! ❤

this place has a huge possibility to erupt and sink down and create a lake with a volcano within it. bc this is exactly how Taal Volcano in the Philippines was long long time ago. the whole area is the volcano itself. people have no idea how huge the eruption on this place is going to be and how damaging it will be.

lovely video. We are going there again in June. This time we want to get up high on to the hill behind the spring to get better photos. Where did you park and walk from when you took this video?
@milosh9k
@milosh9k 9 лет назад
helen a'court Use the parking lot that is less than a mile south of the Grand Prismatic spring - this is the trail head for Fairy Falls. Follow the trail and you will see some people climbing the hill, from there you can get great view - better in midday and in clear day (or mixed clouds, like in my video). You can get an idea for the trail also from Google maps zoomed in

Amazing videos.... I am amazed by the Sony AX100 quality too. I would like to know why you choose it over a DSRL like the Panasonic GH4... from the reviews I read it seems the Panasonic has some advantages...but to be honest the best quality 4k videos I have seen so far are actually from your channel ... very nice work indeed..
@milosh9k
@milosh9k 7 лет назад
GH4 has many advantages, but not what I need, and AX100 has other advantages that I badly need. AX100 has better detail (I was looking at this 3 years ago when I had to chose my first 4K camera). AX100 has a form factor that is better fitting run and gun style, when you have to move fast sometimes in hard conditions, and any lens change is a problem. The dslrs and mirrorless have advantage for the lenses but I prefer not changing lens, and AX100 zoom lens is very sharp and high quality. I have also a6300 which has great video quality and average to low quality kit lens. AX100 is worse for shallow depth of field, but I always need max depth of field. GH4, a6300 have s-log or similar - feature that can increase the dynamic range, and it is great, but I have many reasons I do not use s-log with grading. The cameras are better for timelapses too, compared to ax100, because hey use images for each frame, but again this is something that I do not do or if I want to, I would use my a6300. So my choice is just selection of what I need, not necessary the best, for many other people cameras like a6500 and GH5 are the best choice. Anyway I am waiting for something new soon that would meet my criteria for improving my videos. Best regards!
@lumenetumbra4223
@lumenetumbra4223 7 лет назад
I much prefer the look of AX100 footage than that of the GH4... Thanks for the info!
@milosh9k
@milosh9k 7 лет назад
It depends not only on the brand but also on the specific model. Reviewers say that AX53 has much better stabilization than AX100, even though its video quality is lower, because it is easier to stabilize smaller sensor

The quality of your videos is outstanding. Not only the footage, also the editing and the musical settings are brilliant.You mentionend that you use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit your videos. What Kind of Hardware is required to edit the 4k-footage ?
@milosh9k
@milosh9k 9 лет назад
Pere Grinus Not much difference from HD, I have not updated the hardware (PC desktop i7, 3rd gen, 16MB RAM, low end graphics card). Only the Export in full 4K takes somewhat longer, but you do not do this frequently. Having better graphics card can make big difference as Adobe use it for the processing.

hi i have few questions here, im curious to know: 1. how hot is the water and the land around it? because i see no railing at where the people steps, guess its not that hot? 2. is there any video of any man or mechanism doing a diving tour into the lake? 3. what kind of micro organism is that on the land around the lake? is it a good or bad one?
@milosh9k
@milosh9k 9 лет назад
CookieeMonstarr666 The water is close to the boiling point, but the temperature drops to the edges. I have not heard of diving in the lake, but sure the scientist should have tried something to learn more. There are descriptions of the microorganisms on the web, but I do not think in general they are classified as good or bad, as they do not live in the human bodyBest regards :)

Amazing Places on our Planet by the deep of the pool i think it doesn't connected to deep side of earth (where it is hot), the weather also doesn't look that hot and i was about to ask why is it hot, is the water safe, whats the contents, and while it is close to the boiling point which means it is close to stop bacteria activities does it mean the water is safe? but since u never heard any diving activities i guess we didn't know the answers yet? um whats the specific name of the microorganisms? i may read about it on google, before, i only knew people were not allowed to touch the microorganisms because "the microorganisms want to live like us too", last, does the place not heavily guarded for safety or at least we need to pay before we can go see it and it only opens for adults? cuz i see the place is lack of safety measures :|

There's a place you can wade around in warm waters that is safe and it's just north of the park on the Montana/Wyoming border. It's called Boiling River & there is a small parking lot for it. Just a short little trail to the river & you can soak in the warm water.

Why aren't there any railings on the boardwalk? Someone could push another in the hot springs. This is very dangerous & I wouldn't take a chance.

Why does the video need that god awful music? Is sound of nature not good enough. Couldn't watch for that creepy music.
