I often wander what it would be like to go back in time to 2002 and show those guys who wrote game magazines like playstation UK and PSM back in the day these tricks and I think you would blow their minds. VC in under 3 hours would have been unthinkable.
When you dupe certain missions inside a cutscene (bombs away in this case) it causes memory corruption, in this case making the street lights fall over as soon as they spawn
It's a weird side effect of duping missions (bombs away) inside cutscenes that leads to memory corruption. It also causes the streetlights to turn random disco colours as well
@@englishben Oh, my bad for not paying enough attention then, apologies. Interesting stuff though, cheers for the info! Is there a known technical reason behind it?
@@DinosaurBytes I forget the exact technical reasons, but it's just memory corruption. It's also why streetlights become like a disco with random colours sometimes, just the game being corrupted in silly ways
This was such a fun run to watch, I saw it in one go straight, without going for a juice break lol. I enjoyed your commentary too alo h with MH's. But man after the 1hour 20mins marker, it was tough to follow! All I understood is x is difficult for some y reason :D Would be interested to see if you did proper explainer videos of all these glitches abused, in another video, like a primer for speedrun viewing. You know what I mean? Anyway, thanks so much Ben, this was a GG
Thanks! I know the commentary is a bit hard to follow, as it's years of work condensed into just a few hours. I do have a beginner's tutorial on all missions so maybe that would help? Might be worth a watch if you're interested - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--aBxGhQDL9E.html
People reunite each other like it was some special event and donante up to a hundred dollars just for seeing somone speedrun a game. Chances are that video games will be admited to the olympics or something in the years to come.
Man, i love watching speedruns. Especially when the atmosphere around it is funny and when it's about some popular or popular forgotten games. Like, i would not watch this one, if it were about GTA VC Stories because, i never played it as a kid. Sure, i played it these days on emulator, but considering the bad performance and the fact that i didn't beat it do to the performance, i have no interest in that game. So yeah, cool speedrun. Also, is japanese version of GTA VC any different from original or later PC release? Like, is there any kind of changes besides translation or bugs??
great run. Is it possible to turn down the in-game voice/dialog volume? I enjoyed the commentary but with all the phone calls and glitched cutscenes going on at the same time with the commentary it was a bit jarring at certain points where it felt like there were 4 voices talking over each other. Just a suggestion for the future if there is a setting for that (i dont remember) nevertheless I watched the entire run and enjoyed it :)
In a lot of places I need audio queues etc so the in-game audio is important. Plus not to mention that this was done at an event, so none of the tech setup is mine :)
@@leoblanco4644 there is a specific exploit that is done with the replay feature which is PC exclusive and allows you to duplicate weapons and trigger different game states.
