This is a nonsense comment. First, machines are made by humans to do perfectly and copiously that which we cannot. Handcrafted work is wonderful, but it doesn't mean machines don't have their place - these devices we are typing on are machines.
My lecturer dreams that someday machines will replace laborious jobs and human will focus more on jobs that really needs our brainpower. He hopes that it will increase people's welfare.
Respect. 😊
That joinery at 1:10 - Wow! That's the most complicated joinery I've ever seen done by hand! Grandpa, every time you smile, you make me smile, too. :-)
My grandpa was a carpenter too. At home, we have 3 of the second stools in the video. Grandpa made these by hand with no nails nor glue. Once my cousin was being naughty and put his head inbetween the legs and could not get out. Grandpa had to dissemble the stool and gave him a good spanking. When I was little, Grandpa would hold my hand in one hand and carry the stool in the other hand when we went to pick my mommy up from the bus station. He had to sit down sometimes to rest because he had a bad knee.
All without glue or nails!! I really like the join in the bottom part of the round stool that holds the legs!! I would enjoy more of the normal speed videos too. It’s very meditative to watch you Grandpa, just as you actually are working. It’s beautiful. I imagine the smell of the wood. And then at the end, the smell of those delicious looking buns. Thanks 🙏🏽 so much. Stay well stay safe. Until next video, take care.
Hes a man of focus, commitment and sheer fucking will. Seriously though, these videos are amazing. As i sometimes mess with wood myself, i can say that although the stuff he makes looks very straightforward, sometimes its not easy at all to desing it to be simple and work simply. Leave alone manually creating it, especially with the limited tools that he has. I would love to see what he could make with access to workshop well equipped with fine quality tools.
Everyone pay attention,he made all those tools himself, all u need r a few key parts like the blades for the 2sided saw chisels, must keep blades sharp at all times,God bless Grandpa Amu.
Wish I could visit you, you are a example for persevering! All that work you do without electricity! Also I would like a jacket like you are wearing, it is beautiful, and good for working in!
Grandpa Amu is a master of his craft. He doesn't need electricity and computers for stable furniture. Our furniture industry should consider this and deliver better quality. Many greetings from Germany.
Thank you Grandpa Amu and the people making the videos. More stuff like this needs to be documented like this. It's so sad there are RU-vid channels of 24 hours of a guy watching the same music video over and over. I would not mind if these videos where shown in full. Would you consider full start to finish video? What a treasure documented here. Your family members for generations will be able to see your work and the joy it has given to millions of random people around the world.
Good job, I love the instruments and the ancient technique that You use whit great ease and creativity yo crear this beatiful and divers woden benchs. Greetings from México.
Next time when you consider buying another shiny saw from veritas, think about this guy doing better woodworking than you with a saw that is basically three old rods / and a work bench that is literally a bench
It’s basically a variation on 7 ways to make a stool. Haha. Just kidding I love what you makes and the way you make it. With a lot of skills and patience you make everything you want. Love it. Thank you very much.

wait a second I remember all the stools, we used them back when I was living in our villages in childhood, so these kind of skills are actually used everywhere in China? wow, feel quite proud of it!
Yes, they were used everywhere in china, at least a couple decades ago. My dad make the stool , window frames and table at home when I was a child thirty years ago. More modern techniques have been used now. But I bet u can still found lots of people who know and using the skills now.
Vovô Amu me faz lembrar muito meu finado Pai.
