Thanks for sharing this one of Grandpa with us. He was the same in person as he was on stage, never changing and a funny answer to everything that you asked him. He was always entertaining and such a lovable person.......Rog
Like many others, I have Grandpa on cd singing ' Dear old sunny south by the sea' and I cantell you its clear as a bell and pitch perfect! In this clip old age has spoilt his voice but he has a good try. Have you heard Roy Acuff singing when he was old? I just hope i can still HOLD a guitar if I reach over 80 let alone play AND sing!!!!!!!!
You can't help but love and adore this man. Him and Stringbean. Both have amazing legacies. I cried soo hard recently when I saw his tribute to Stringbean on Hee Haw.
Grandpa Jones also does a full length version of Dear Old Sunny South by the Sea on the Grand ole Opry. If by any chance you also have that one, I wish you'd post it.
"Dear Old Sunny South By The Sea",written by "Father of Country Music"-Jimmie Rodgers & Ellsworth T.Cozzens, released 1928. Grandpa Jones, sung a few of Jimmie Rodgers songs.
