It really is Roland as a grown up, you can tell the young Rolly is still there. Brilliant to see him. Thank you Sir.

Is a tad over dramatic that they weren’t allowed in the classrooms, it’s a school not a nuclear weapons factory.

In my opinion the golden era of GH was 1978-84. I did watch it for a couple of years after 84 but it was never quite the same.

Zelda Fitzgerald, I agree with you and I feel the same, but times change and by 1984 our generation was getting too old for Grange Hill . I stopped watching it around 1985.

Last episode of 1989 is generally considered the end of the classic era.

I remember when i was young, and our dad would bring us to greyhound racing at wembley stadium, i got to see one of the stars of grange hill back then Being a kid fan of grange hill back then. Funny how you remember seeing someone famous, and you can still remember it years later. Its one of the people in this video, just makes me laugh that fans of a show can remember someone from when they were kids, i was a kid going to wembley stadium on friday night with my dad, as we lived just a short distance from wembley stadium Weird how you can remember such things, as all this time you did not have that memory, but seeing the video triggers that memory.

John Pearson: I've watched this 3 times in as many months now, it looked really good, I only just managed to clock some of the older students. I was between 5 & 9 yrs old first time round with the 81/85 seasons, my actual era would've been the "Justine & Tegs to the Arnie & Mr Robson era's. I'm up to season 26 now over the space of a year, have been really enjoying them. The Roland/Erkan/Zammo/Jackie era was quality, I remember being about 7 and fancying all these older girls haha. I got goose-bumps looking at some of the coridoors, all those filming memories, it was a better era back then, weather, tv programs, people etc. If they do another one would love to find out when and have a chat with the old cast. Mrs McCluskey hasn't changed at all!!!!....

Erkan says that the school they are at is where Benny Green walked through the gates. That is incorrect, that scene was filmed at the old Kingsbury site.

@Spike0000
@Spike0000 5 лет назад
@mistofoles: I think he meant Terry Sue Patt "Metaphorically" walked through "Grange Hills" gates....Although..in the christmas episode of 81..Benny Green/Tucker etc did walk through these particular gates and passed the baton onto Zammo & Rolands era....

Grange Hill was indeed first filmed in Kingsbury High School. As a fan of Grange Hill at the time it made it easier to find my way around the school when I started there. We never had a Tuck shop like Grange Hill though. We had Kitkat machines instead which were removed by the time I left. A few kids tried to climb the Tower like Tucker did but still got into trouble eventhough they didn't start a fire.

To be fair we were in the last term of junior school in February 1978 when GH was first broadcast. I always wondered why the bbc didn’t start every new GH seris off September?.

TBH I'd have been a bit disappointed had I paid what Erkan Mustafa hints at was an expensive price for this tour. It all appeared very rushed and as though Erkan was just trying to remember things off the cuff and make them sound more exciting than they actually were by constantly using words such as 'Iconic' and 'Poignant'. There are lots of locations around Greyhound Road not far from the school that were used in GH and are still recognisable today that would have made a far better tour than showing people inside the school grounds random bits of wall and areas where buildings had once been.
@kingkenny2635
@kingkenny2635 6 лет назад
Mr H's Hot Pot agree seemed very rushed and I don’t think he’s very good at it. Needed a proper guide. I wouldn’t have paid for this and I love Grange Hill.

He was probably a bit nervous doing it, hence the numerous iconic saying, plus benny came through the gates of another school, most of classroom scenes where studio filmed too.

I wonder if the original cast from 1978 have ever thought abòut doing a tour of the first school used for filming Grange Hill which was Kingsbury High School.

A really iconic scene was the moment when Mr Hopwood stopped a racially motivated fight from taking place between Gripper’s firm and Randir, Woody and his mates. The moment when Gripper’s firm blocked off the entrance.

wtf, that old woman on here seems to know every single scene, thats a bit over the top and did my head in a bit, im a fan and have great memories of the show, although i was a teenager in the 90s when the show was shite i remember the mid to late 80s stuff best from when i was very young because i used to watch it with my older sisters. this aint the school which i remember, they had just moved to the newer site after the fire when i started watching. how much did they charge for this tour ?

Kingsbury high school was used for the first two series then Willesden for the third & forth and then this location in Fulham for the fifth to the eighth series, 83-85. Very little was actually filmed inside any of these locations. It was all mainly done in studios.
@mistofoles
@mistofoles 6 лет назад
Correct, just the odd shots of pupils entering/exiting the school. It was all edited together afterwards to make it look continuous.
@samanthahardy9903

The outside shots in the first 2 series were in the Kingsbury High playing fields. The assembley halls and the Tower scene where Tucker waved from the Tower was the actual Tower on the school in Princess Ave. Kingsbury High was split between Princess Ave and Bacon Lane. 1st, 2nd and 3rd years Bacon Lane. 4th years and above in Princess Ave. The lettering of the classes were similar as well. A,B, G, R.
