I remember a teacher casually slapping a boy in the face as he entered the classroom when there was a bit of a lunchtime racket going on. Then he went out again. The boy sank to his desk with his head in his hands before rushing out of the classroom, presumably to cry in private. Saw quite a lot of this sort of stuff at my old prep school in the 60s!
Children behaved way better and had way more respect in those days,than the trash nowadays. They get away with anything,and are even known to attack teachers and other students,or bring weapons into school as well.
This happened in the 1981 edition of Grange Hill is series 4. Mr Hopwood probably shouldn’t had hit Alan Humphries for smoking 🚬 underneath the desk. This is not how teachers 👩🏫 👨🏫 🧑🏫 should treat school 🏫 pupils 👩🎓 👨🎓🧑🎓. Yes 🙌, smoking 🚬 is dangerous, vulnerable, causes a hazard and fire 🔥 inside the building. This happened 42 previous years ago in 1981. Smoking 🚬 has been banned from shops 🏬, trains 🚊, buses 🚌, taxis 🚕, pubs, restaurants, cafes 🍵 🍽️ ☕️, aeroplanes ✈️, helicopters 🚁, ferries ⛴️, boat ⛴️ 🛥️ 🚤 🛶 , railway 🚃 stations 🚉, hotels 🏨, colleges and surely enclosed public places. Grange Hill was screened on BBC1 for 30 years from Wednesday 8th February 1978 until Monday 15th September 2008, did 31 series. I honestly wished that Mrs McCluskey stayed on Grange Hill beyond 1991 to perhaps 🤔 2001 which she would’ve done ✔️ ☑️ ✅ a subtotal to around perhaps 🤔 220 episodes. Actress Gwyneth Powell died in September 2022. Rest in peace ☮️ ✌️ Gwyneth Powell. The school 🏫 had changed over the years. I was slapped on the right ear by my Geography teacher laughing at a school-friends joke as I entered class when an eight-year old. The blow almost lifted me off my feet. It was Big Ben striking midday in my head for days. In the end he made me stand in the corridor, for a minute or two, then bade me enter, but in complete silence. This was 1974. If that happened today he would have got the sack. And charged with assault and child abuse. But hey, I sure got taught a lesson alright!😮
