I lived two minutes from the Richmond hospital. I went to the CBS. Generations of my family are from D7. Poverty unemployment bad housing.I spent all my youth playing in the gorman as we called it. We played handball,ga and soccer. We also had our chaces from the male patience. Sometimes we slagged and jear them for a chace. We were ignorant children of their plight. it was a foreboding place it was edgey for us because of the whole area. Not only was there a psychiatric unit part but also there was the Regina chailey, the Vincent de Paul. Also there was a hidden area for unmarried mothers living in units like caravans. Then we had the area Smithfield and the market's at the four court's and the Bridewell. What a mix the area had.So much has changed and not for the betterment .Heart and soul gone because the local people are no longer there. Gentrification is very obvious over in Dublin 7.They pretend to be the people who they displaced. They dont have the binding ingredient to achive this.Poverty is one of the ingredients in that binding. People make communities.✌️☘️
