A drone flight around Grangemouth's main industrial complex's taking in the oil refinery, the docks, Kinneil FPS plant, KG plant & Versalis rubber plant.
All footage filmed from public areas using a mini 2 (sub 250g) drone.
Although legal to do so and no flight restrictions in place I chose not to fly directly over any of the sites.

Looks very different these days. I worked there for 25 years in the drawing office and made many drawings of all of these areas. Great video. Thanks

Cool shots. amazed you got permission to fly. Ineos didn't want me filming. I have been trying but can't get it for security reasons and flying over houses, main roads etc.

Ineos do not own nor control the airspace therefore you don't need permission from them for anything. The CAA control the airspace and they decide where aircraft can fly. They deem this airspace as open so you can fly in it. If I wanted to I could have flown directly over the site but decided not to as having worked there I know the dangers involved.

This refinery could be converted to produce biofuels to help reach net zero emissions. All of the agricultural residues produced by British farms such as wheat straw could be converted into bio crude and biochar (for use as a carbon negative soil amendment) via pyrolysis. Bio crude can be refined at existing oil refineries like the one shown in this video to produce biofuels which are equal in energy density to liquid fuels made from crude oil.
