This song is simply amazing and true. Sometimes things happen when you least expect it. I was living in Iowa for a bit and had an old 1980 Chevy K20. I got stopped at a gas station by a kid wanting to buy it. I wasn't interested in selling at the time but he wanted my number anyway. His phone was dead so he had his girlfriend take my number. Fast forward almost a year and the truck was gone and I lived 300 miles away. I was up visiting family and got a text from this kids now ex girlfriend asking if I still had the truck because her and some friends got a truck stuck in the mud. Unfortunately I couldn't help but that started us talking non stop. A month or 2 later I bought a newer truck and a buddy needed my help moving so I drove up there and got to spend an amazing day with her. We talked, drove, listened to music. I taught her how to drive my truck as it was 5 speed. Drove the long way home the next day just so I could see her again. The next month I was having a bad week and my buddy messaged her and she drove 300 miles to spend a day with me and drive 300 miles back. She didnt know my buddy at all but she knew I needed cheered up. Then I messed it up. Met a local girl, got married, she cheated on me, and then we divorced. Always thought of her though. This past weekend I was up visiting family on my vacation. I was drinking at a bar and went outside to smoke. I'm about halfway done with my smoke and I look at the crowd outside the next bar and there she is staring at me with the biggest blue eyes and the same cute smile. We hadn't seen each other in 6 years. We hung out til closing time talking and reminiscing. She told me if I would have said how much I loved her back then we would've been married and already started our future. Instead I settled for less and suffered a failed marriage and she suffered an abusive relationship. She took my number and told me to text her but I never heard anything. I believe she's in a relationship currently. I still remain hopeful. Turns out after 6 years she still talked about me with people that frequented that bar. She would tell them about our good times. She would still play our songs. Our relationship has been based off fate. And I remain hopeful that fate will bring my dream girl back to me. I watch my phone hoping it will go off and I'll see her name there. A lot of your songs help with the hurt of losing her again and songs like this remind me that there is a chance.

I just heard this song and I can't stop listening to it and watching the video. This song really captures my life with my wife. We met while I was deployed and she was back here in the states. It was completely out of coincidence that we met and everything else just happened. Now we have an 11 month old son, who actually looks like the boy in the video. Every time I see Granger catching him it reminds me of my son and I. So Granger you did an awesome job with capturing the moments in your lyrics and with this video. Keep up the awesome work! I've never met your family in person but every time I see Riv in any of the music videos or in The Smiths my heart aches. I know what I feel is nothing compared to what you guys have gone through but I do understand the pain. I lost the love of my life 7 years ago this coming October and it still doesn't seem real to me. I find myself at times just breaking down because I miss her so much. Sharing this in a public setting is really hard but I know someone out there will read this and know that they dont have to go through this alone. Find someone to talk to it does help.
