Shortly after being discharged from the military in 1981, I moved to Beaver Dam Valley in Asheville, NC, where my husband is from. It was beautiful. We didn't have a penny to our name, and was renting a tiny little place at the top of a hill. When it snowed, I remember riding a tobogan down the steep hill holding our little son, down to the main road so we could go to work (to me, that was kinda fun). I'm from CA and of course always heard about the Appalachians, so Asheville was the closest I got to it and was always intrigued. So when your RU-vid channel popped up from nowhere, I had to watch it and have been hooked ever since. You and your family are great, and yes, I've subscribed to your daughter's channel, as well. LOVE your cooking videos and all that you do. I made your Pimento Cheese recipe yesterday. It's amazing! What a special gift y'all have being from the Appalachians! Thank you for doing your part in keeping it alive. Many blessings.

My birthday is tomorrow! But my kids ,all but one, came and we celebrated my birthday yesterday! We had a great time! Great food! I didn’t do much but mix up bake beans! Everything was cooked on the grill or smoker! Had gluten free cupcakes, gluten free cheesecake, gluten free cake balls, very delicious! What I enjoyed the most was we walking thru the garden! But I asked them to pick it for me, I have had back issues this week and couldn’t! Then I sent 2 or 3 bags full of tomatoes squash, peppers, okra ! They we’re surprised, they just thought they were picking for me! But really my back just needs to rest this week and I would have tried to pick it and my back would have gotten worse! Now I don’t worry about wasting those vegetables! I have plenty of vegetables still green on the vine! Especially tomatoes!

Memory /wisdom:The movie White Christmas came out when I was young, and my father would sing to us the song “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sleep”. Such a good message (and movie) 70 years later!! And then I saw something similar that I love - “It’s important to realize you are living inside one of your answered prayers while you wait for your next one. There’s always a place for gratitude.” Have a blessed week!!
