i had his job...summer '95 and '96...well boat driver and sometime tour guide when park ranger decided to let me give tour while they drove boat....met my wife there that second year and got four kids out of the deal....skied around it , biked around it...but nothing compares to being on it...and in it....and on top of wizard island....etc,etc,etc...
The first time I saw Crater Lake, I was not prepared for it. My jaw fell open, the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in nature. Just to stand there on the edge of the crater, it is really hard to comprehend it all just from the sheer size. The Lord sure made some beautiful stuff.
I really wish they would use electric motors in these boats or give the people paddles. The gas and noise pollution is doing damage to what makes this place so wonderful...besides it’s much easier to get electricity up there than gasoline.
We loved Crater Lake when we were there last Summer! The hike up Wizard Island and the boat tour were fantastic! We have a couple of videos about that on our site. Thanks for the great info!
They encourage fishing because there are no native species of fish in the lake, all were added by man and eat native things. But you cant have a boat, not even an inflatable innertube.
Yes you can. Do not need a fishing license either. Huge trout and Kokanee are caught from the shore and lots of them. I don’t think you can use bait but imitation flies and lures are fine.
