@@TheShagdog1313 There's a youtube vid of a compact derby where a guy is driving a 60s Mustang; he got folded up just as bad but still managed to get around and lay on hits for several minutes.
That's one of the best heats I've watched. Reminds me of derbies in IL back in the 90s when it was all old iron and stuff bent. Shared vid on FB. Subbed. Awesome channel.
Its so much better when they go forwards to crash. Coming from a UK background and an avid watcher and ex racer of Banger Racing i really struggle to get into Demo Derbies which are slow reverse hitting for 15 minutes untill someone runs out of fuel. This was one of the better DDs ive seen as drivers were crashing what i would deem as properly. Good stuff
@@DemolitionDerbyMN @Demolition Derby MN Thanks for the reply! Youl be surprised. Theres far less deaths than you think. Theres alot of safety build rules that we follow, as well as a full race harness and now the majority use 'HANS' devices which restrict forward movement of the crash helmet on a foreward impact. Plus i feel the cars are a bit less prepped strength wise than yours so that the cars feel the impact more than the drivers do. Although the ideas are the same in a sense of the cars are built to take hits and 'bend' in the best way possible to prolong the life of the cars.
