Over 50 years old and still among the most powerful addiction scenes. Diana Ross got an Oscar nomination - she lost to Liza Minnelli. Sad to see how a lovely woman could fall from glamorous to miserable. The movie's opening is also very moving.

It was 20 yrs later after I became addicted to pain killers that I really understood what she was feeling in this scene.to be addicted to a drug and desperate to get a dose of the drug so that you don't go into withdrawals.i don't think this scene had anything to do with wanting to be high but wanting the drug to not get withdrawal sickness.the music beginning at the 4:16 timestamp is just amazing
That is one of the most beautiful and powerful scenes ever. And it’s definitely not given its proper credit. It’s also the ugliest scene 🎬 due to the horror of what drug dependency does to people and their families
