[Graphic] Giant cat eats people (ATGW) 

This is actually the *second* (and literal) hunger game that the students in the manga and live-action are put through. They are all dressed in mouse suits, and presented with a Maneki-neko (lucky cat) - but unlike the porcelain statues, this one is animated by a kami (Shinto god) and is quite alive. The students have to figure out how to get a bell-ball through the basketball hoop on the cat's collar. Just one problem: If any of them move in sight of the cat, *NOMF.* And they die just as if they are eaten by a flesh and blood cat. The ones that aren't eaten are crushed. A certain character not part of the original game figures out the cat's weakness: She has an itchy back. When they give it a scratching from *behind* her, she goes limp, and gives them a chance to bell the Maneki-neko, winning the game. At the cost of about 30 lives. Then him and two others go on to kill all the other survivors AFTER the cat is neutralized. It's that kind of manga. Pure Junji Ito style horror.

This must be one of the most fascinating films I've never heard about.

This is surprising, I think I must look this movie up. I see about the black screen parts, I wondered if you were shielding us from some especially traumatic gore parts. Interesting scene, reminds me of Gantz.
