You sir are hereby nominated for the nobel peace prize in Medicine because you have lowered my blood pressure considerably and likely added 10 years to my life. This issue was driving me nuts and multiple suggestions I saw elsewhere repeatedly failed to fix the problem. This worked perfectly the first time, your instructions were clear and easy to follow, and I am now considerably more pleasant to be around when using my PC. Thank you!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH DUDE, i've been struggling with video players in VR, always getting that pop-up issue window, your video was the only one that helped me, I reccomend everyone having that problem giving this a try!
Hey, just wanted to thank you for this tip. I've had incredibly bad stuttering issues and some crashing ever since AMD brought out the sound suppression update for Adrenalin (22.7.1?). Impacted gaming, impacted any video play on websites, slow loading for Chrome/Edge, etc. Bonkers. And super-frustrating. Followed your DDU tip today and I'm back to silky smooth once again. AMD 6700XT here. Your video was simple to follow and everything went exactly as you described even using WIN 11. Cheers and thanks!!
Hey man I also have a 6700xt and I am using the latest drivers right now. I feel like there is a weird stutter even tho my fps and frametimes are all good. Did you only disable noise suppression or did you do anything else?
I have always removed the old drivers with DDU, putting a fresh driver install for which ever graphics card I am using. Though lately since an update from Windows the PC started shutting down when trying to run a game. The pc is fine outside of games, had to roll back to the previous update. Thankfully that has fixed my problem.
Thank you so much for your help i have actually same problem in Apex legends then i saw your video and i do samething you told about then problem fixed 😍 Thank you again 😍😍
I hope this works for you too please post your results. So far this has been a fifty fifty works for people sort of fix. I very much am frustrated with AMD's driver's
I did all the steps before only the one with windows updates I didn't know !maybe that's why it always crash after a while! I'm gonna try your steps and see if it's working ..thank you so much
Hey, I have the AMD Adrenalin time-out issue, but it has been weeks since I last updated (haven't been any more updates since), so my issues didn't start untill a long time after the update. You mentioned the updates being on top of eachother being an issue, but can that still happen weeks after your last update? Edit: unfortunatly your method didn't work for me
Great vid, title could be more DDU specific though. I bought a new 7900xt to replace my rtx2060 and couldn't get it to work because of what I believe to be a driver issue. Used DDU, although before I saw your vid, and unfortunately it didn't help. Ended up returning the 7900xt and back to old 2060. Probably going to shell out the extra money and go back to Ngreedia...
I am so sorry I have a friend who has a 5700xt as well and has had problems. Anywhere from his go pro not working becuase AMD to his GPU running at 110c This weekend we fixed the over heating problem with some really nice thermal paste and washers. Running an ice cold 50 to 70c on the Hotspot now. However the other driver problems are still present
Same here man. Built my first PC in August 2019. Bought the new Ryzen 7 3700x and the RX 5700xt. Been driver timeouts since day 1 and have tried everything. DDU, Bios update, AMD Radeon settings. Honestly ridiculous that we have to deal with all of this. Now my PC just collects dust and I use my work PC that has a 2060. No problems with this Dell.
@@cos0 I got literally the same build as you at the same time for my first pc except I have a ryzen 5 3600. I tried so many different fixes and I still get driver timeouts.
Just wanted to do a quick update in this thread. We fixed all the issues he was having by updating his BIOS. So give that a try and see how it works for you.
I upgraded from a Nvidia 760 to a Radeon 5600xt, I've been getting those random driver timeouts all year, but lately it's been happening more often and worse. Also in my attempt to fix this issue I've done a clean reinstall of win 10. I'll try this next since I've used the amd removal tool instead of ddu.
I have a friend irl who has a 5700xt and has had nothing but issues 😔 sux because it seemed like a great buy at the time. Now I am so frustrated that I suggested it. I will say my Vega still makes me happy and with basically no bugs that I don't induce myself
@@FoggyDigital before with Nvidia 760 I had zero driver timeouts and I've had that gpu since 2013! I was able to get the 5600xt last January before the gpu apocalypse. At first everything was good and got the occasional driver timeouts but the last few months it's happening a lot more. Even after clean reinstall of win 10 the issue came back even worse. Did some tweaks but noticed this still happening more with certain games than others. One of them is unplayable now. Been thinking of going back to Nvidia but GPU prices are insane.
@J W Yeah the GPU apocalypse is terrible. I also wouldn't blame you going from a stable gpu that's old to one that is unstable and new is not a good experience
@@FoggyDigital ya the last new new AMD GPU I had was way back 2002 I think. I don't remember which GPU it was but it was the newest release from amd in 2002. Then I upgraded from that amd gpu to the Nvidia 760 in 2013. I don't remember having the same issues back then compared to what i have now with the 5600xt. But I was surprised with a PS5 for Xmas so I have something to scratch my new tech itch until the GPU apocalypse ends, if ever.
@@FoggyDigital that's it I'm done with amd. I tried ddu tool and I'm still having driver timeout issues and even with zero overclocking also no 3rd party overclocking apps. Now actively looking for 3060ti.
Just done this didn't know windows trys to install old drivers over new ones ive ddu and reinstalled the drivers more times i care to count seems to be running alot better now not had a black screen or a driver time out today Thanks for the video
this could be the possible solution for my problem, I got high temps on my ASUS Rx580 ranging 70°c to 73°c on unengine benchmark, then on the middle of the stress test my display would suddenly turns black and the fans are going wild producing loud sounds.
@den4961 Okay, so the temps seem awful high. I would pull your GPU and replace the thermal paste then run the benchmark once more and see where you are at
I have never had these issues with an Nvidia card. With Geforce Experience it uninstalls the old driver for you when you update the drivers. I have upgraded from the GTX 1080 to the RX 6700 xt and my games are always stuttering like crazy even after doing this. AMD drivers are trash in comparison. I love the 6700 xt performance when it works but it only works well in a few games or a few matches of COD.
Hmm that is a bit weird 🤔 however as long as you follow those instructions things should be good to go. Sometimes a full shutdown may need to happen. But no worries just continue on
My RX 6700XT continues to be an issue. Continue to do everything in this video at least once a week. It’s horrible. My next purchase will be a Nvidia card.
Ok so for whatever reason turning off Freesync in both my monitor and in Radeon settings stopped my crashing. Why? No clue since both supposedly support free-sync. That solved the issue tho. I’ve been trying this technique in your video for months to no avail but shutting off freesync worked. Glad this solution works for others tho for sure.
Also just to clarify I was not trying to sound like I was criticizing you since it works for others and has worked for me in the past. Just figure I would put my solution so if someone else comes along with the same issue it might help them.
@@FoggyDigital completely agree with you. It’s only certain games like Borderlands 3. Dying Light 2 and other games I can play fine but certain games with freesync on causes issues after about 2 mins of playing. It’s the most annoying thing lol
@@NewEnglandParanormal how do you turn off freesync from youre monitor?? I have a gigabyte 144p monitor and I am running the 6700xt aswell and had these problems literally 2 days after buying it and installing with 100% brand new build.
Hello, my one gigabyte rx 550 2gb ddr5 , I have a problem when I open my video editing program , after effects or sony vegas , the screen blinks and gives this message "we detected a driver timeout on your amd system" and the program crashes, then when I uninstall the amd video card driver and go to open the program it doesn't happen. strange what can it be can you help me? Pc monitor aoc 75hz freesync i5 2310 8gb ram amd rx 550 2gb ddr5 hd 500gb ssd 240 kingston Hoopson 550watt windows 10 home
Straight up the driver is having problems. You should follow the instructions in my GPU problems video. Make sure to really go through the steps AMD drivers and honestly all drivers can do weird thing if something even something small is not right
Mine just always happens after startup. Right after start up , no matter what application i try to run it freezes for sometime . And im not using a graphics card. Im using 5600G
For me my gpu memory clock speed consistently stays the same number , it don’t go up or down, then I bottleneck so I’m confused what’s wrong with my pc!! I’m soo close to sell it & just keep the sdd & buy a prebuilt
Hmm try the process one more time and make sure you have disabled windows from updating your drivers. That maybe be the problem. And as silly as this sounds you may try another cable too. I one time had a bad cable screw me over
Mine keep uninstall like when sometimes after 4-5 days when I open my PC it crashedh and gives me black screen and when I close it and open again the drivers aren't in my PC I don't know what to do
I have 4k youtube video lagging problem with sound ( but not with external speakers) but gameing run fine , i have ryzen 7 5800h 3050rtx 8gb ram what's the problem?
Got a new GPU and worked great 1st day, now it's been crashing and crashing. Reinstall the recommend drivers and the optional drivers and just many issues. Odd square pixels popping up idk if my card is defective or not. Did DDU 5 times still won't work right.
The part you said odd square pixel does it come in random colours? Mine is something like that then proceed to crash the game, yea i forgot to mention it only happened during playing games
Does this work on a APU, I'm using a Ryzen 3 3200g and I play valorant it randomly crashes. I don't think there hours or minutes specifically that my game crashes. the issue is Driver time out black screen suddenly goes back to normal hope u can help me, that would be great.
my old PC has gts 450. it's kinda weird everytime a boot it up the drivers are uninstall. so frustrating.. I can't fix the problem. I thinking the GPU is faulty or system os is not compatible.
@@FoggyDigital it worked eventually. I just left my PC off for a day and then it started. Unfortunately, my graphics card continues to crash. I believe it's a hardware problem
Wild man. I am glad your PC turned back on. I also learned since that video that a motherboard bios update can help too. But that's a whole other video for sure. I definitely am happy your stuff is going again though
@FoggyDigital I am facing driver timeout problem after 3 4 days when I bought this card and I also followed ur steps but didn't work idk why so how we can update motherboard bios?
Me also. I got a 5500xt at first i got no Problems. After 8 Months of Gaming my Drivers didn´t work an i am drying to fix it but nothing help. I watched every video on RU-vid and tryed every solution but nothing helped. I am very confused. For my to go to school to by a new card is very expensive because i only got my pocket money every month. I hoppe i will find a way in the future to fix the Problem.
It's really weird, for me I'll just be sitting watching a video or playing a game, then with audio still playing it freezes for a few seconds then black screens and gives a driver timeout. It just started yesterday, no hardware changes, no driver changes, no new programs installed.
@@FoggyDigital Yes, RX 570 4GB. Your fix seems to have fixed it for now at least, but the issue had just randomly started without updating drivers or windows at all.
@@wyattevans1827 I have had a lot of comments about AMD GPU drivers being problematic. Sadly as a fan of what AMD has been doing in the PC space, it is a bummer to see the drivers still causing problems
@@wyattevans1827 hey I've been having the same problem with the same gpu as you I was wondering if you still encounter crashing after the fix or did the pointers in the vid actually help permanently?
that totaly didnt work at all i didnt had any graphic card before this one and i still getting that error in some games i play, rx580 same as you and i did uninstall and and clean with new windows and recent drivers and still nothing
Did you make sure to stop windows from Installing its own drivers? I have had this be a huge problem 😕 sadly AMD drivers can be a total pain in the ass sometimes and I have had to do this trouble shooting more than once. Sorry it hasn't helped up to this point
Man, that's not right. I have had other people with AMD gpus have issues. I swear I hear so much about them. It's too bad. AMD really needs to do better with driver support. I feel like that is 80% of the battle
It definitely can be. Windows always tries to install a driver and that alone can mess up the drivers when you go to install the correct one. It is best to start with no driver and an ugly screen aspect vs. a nice clean one that your monitor likes.
@@FoggyDigital right what if I were to do a fresh install then disable the windows update in service that should stop update untill I start the service
@@noorabdul2426 yeah you can go the nuclear route just make sure you are not connected to the internet during install until you have turned off the feature in windows after your fresh install

i have a problem my rx 580 shuts down pc running no display while gaming it was not a problem with older version like 20.10 something updated my driver to 21.5.2 display shuts off while gaming
You can wipe your driver's and find the exact one you know works and reinstall it. Make sure to turn off any auto updates in adrenaline. They should be off by default but still
