A perfect half day's walk in the Lake District, complete with a halfway stop for coffee and cake! Grand view of the lakes with exploring of caves and admiring waterfalls.
We start at the car park at Pelter Bridge and head uphill towards Rydal Caves whilst along the way we are able to admire the views of Rydal Water. On reaching the caves we explore the inner chambers and test the echoing effects.
We leave the caves and continue heading towards Loughrigg Terrace, from this path we are able to have a birds eye view of the River Rothay as it connects the two lakes of Rydal Water and Grasmere. At the Grasmere end of the river we head towards the shoreline of Grasmere. Here we see the ducks and approve with 'thumbs up for the ducks'.
Now on the shoreline footpath we continue until the path ascends the hill away from the lake to gain the very minor road that leads into Grasmere village. On reaching the village we visit Heidi's Cafe for some coffee and cake. Before we leave Grasmere we visit the grave of William Wordsworth and then pass the Gingerbread shop.
We leave the village behind and head over to Town End which houses the Wordsworth museum and Dove Cottage. The cottage was used by Wordsworth for nine years before he moved to Allan Bank.
We now head towards Rydal village whilst admiring the views of Rydal Water below. Eventually, we arrive at the last place that Wordsworth lived which was Rydal Mount and where is descendant still live today. Having admired the house we cross the road and next visit the grounds of Rydal Hall.
At the end of our visit we visit the Grot that was built in 1668 to perfectly frame Rydal Waterfall. We admire the various angles of the waterfall before finishing our circular tour which has included the lakes of Rydal Water and Grasmere.

Hi Nigel, I just wanted to say thank you so much for all your trail videos. I’m making my way through them all and glad there are so many! I watch them whilst I eat twice a day as I’m eating separately whilst treating myself for cancer - so your trails are helping me get through all the veggies and supplements, which takes a long time. Also, you look just like an older version of my brother and even similar facial expressions. This particular trail was a lovely treat as if I could do a walk, it would be something like this one. Beautiful!

Hi Fiona, glad you enjoying all the videos, it’s great to have such positive feedback and really helps me to stay motivated to share all the journeys. Really funny about your brother’s look a like! The strange think is that within my family they are amused that this happens to me quite often. I’ve been stopped on the side of mountains by complete strangers claiming that they know me from years back and similar experiences when I’m out about. Thanks for sharing your story and I wish you a speedy recovery. If you have any questions or comments on any of the videos, do please feel free to drop a line, I always try to respond the best I can. Cheers, Nigel

Just to add, I particularly like the added bits of history, footage of old bridges, dates on quaint houses and the way you make us feel we are on the walk with you. 😊

Hi Fiona, just dropping by to say hello and wondered if you have seen this video. I was just reviewing some of my old videos and came across this one, which I made to celebrate reaching 100 subscribers. It's in the countryside of the Cotswold and I thought you might enjoy it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MShekHqt_ZY.html

Most enjoyable, as with all of your videos. I did a similar walk in 2016 so it brought back good memories. I'll do it again when I visit the Lakes in April.

Lovely video and such variety - great day for your walk. Noticed some storm damage - shame so many mature trees uprooted…Thanks for sharing

Yes, breaks my heart to see all the storm damage. Also, the number of trees that I saw that had fallen on the old stone walls, suspect some will never be repaired. Thanks for watching.
